Course Curriculum Overview

5

I chose ece department under parental pressure but now I'm enjoying the subject and it's main credit goes to the friendly faculties. We do 2-3 mini projects every semester and that enhances our knowledge on real world applications. Though, we definitely feel there are a lot of subjects, record writing, practicals and projects which sometimes feel like burden due to lack of time. We have two assessments every semester with a gap of two months followed by practicals and end semester which sometimes get really hectic.

Internships Opportunities

5

Right now, I'm in my 2nd year and hence haven't grabbed any major internship. Official internship starts from 3rd year. But with the help of Mr. Vijaykumar, some students got placed for a training under microbolt systems which is an ic manufacturing company. This training is equipping as with industry level knowledge like working with cadence, designing chips, getting deeoer into the conceps of transistors, learning to implement concepts like reinforcement learning in analog designs and many more. Apart from this as I already mentioned, numerous companies like Qualcomm, wells cargo, bny mellon, amazon do come to our campus from next semester with an intern stipend of 70k.

Placement Experience

5

Placements are quite good in our college, companies start to visit the campus from 5th semester for intern, the average intern stipend is about 30k, companies like silicon labs, qualcomm, samsung, bosch, etc are core companies, software companies like caterpillar inc, wells fargo, jp morgan, paypal etc also hire students. Highest package was 27 lpa last year and average package lies around 8 lpa and almost all students get placed somewhere or the other. So placements are not mucb of a hassle in our college. I am looking forward to take up oncampus offet next semester as I'm in my 4th semester now.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees is 20k per sem for oc general admissions, if you belong to other reservations or first graduates, almost 5-10k reduction in fees is available with proper documentation. Hostel fees is 40k per sem which can be covered with scholarships. Ffe scholarship is the widespread one in our campus, other scholarships are dlso available though.

Campus Life

5

The annual fest called mitafest is one of the viggest fests in tamil nadu with many celebrities visiting our campus. It takes place for 4 days from morning till night and i would say its one of the best fests i have ever been in. During the same period, hostellers have a special fest called Homefest where hostels are full of celebrations. Chakravyuha is our technical fest started from this year. Apart from this individual department fests and alumni meets also take place around march-april. We have numerous clubs in our campus like mitra, csmit, tedc, pda, raptors and many more which conduct regular sessions and help us build soft skills. Libraries are well equipped with all required books, we can take 4 books from regular library and 6 books from department library which is a lot, apart from this clubs also offer book lending. Sports fests also take place with many tournaments taking place and students from iitm and nitt also participate in those events. Our classrooms are equipped with smart boards and all teachers teach using that, computer and internet facilities are also great.

Admission

I applied for vit chennai and srm university, inspite of getting seat , i chose this college because of its really low fees with a great nirf ranking and good enough facilities. Compared to other colleges that take lakhs of fees, i pay only a lakh and a half put together all four years, this really is helpful economically for my parents. The admission criteria of this college mainly depends on 12th marks, students having high cutoff like 199/200 easily grab seat in this college. My cutoff was 197.5 which didn't get me a seat in CT/IT department and henceforth i landed in ece department. Other quotas like lateral, sports and 7.5% reservation do exist which can be looked upon on the tnea website.

Faculty

5

When it comes to ece department, most of the faculties are friendly and push us towards working on industry oriented projects, most faculties teach very well expecially Mrs. Joy Vasantha Rani who is strict but very knowledgeable person. Mrs.Mariammal makes you love analog electronics. Mr. Kannan is one of the toughest faculties but when approached helps us really well. Each subject has an option of two to three faculties and hence pur department is not short of teachers. When listened to their classes properly, their notes are sufficient to get through the paper, bht some students tend to fail who don't take the subjects seriously, almost 90 percent of them easily manage good scores.

Night Life

5

Hostel intime is 8pm in the night, till then students are free birds. Labs are open till 6 and hence we can work till then. Libraries are open till 7.30 and studious folks stay in library. Gyms are present in both boys and girls hostel and quite equipped and functional. The area around our college is full of shops, like saravana stores, pothys all seem to be shopping zones, near our college we have a street called radha nagar and there is literally nothing that is not available there. Jaya mess makes one of the best fried rice i have ever eaten and whenever hostel food seems boring, hostellers flood that shop. Kadhar biriyani is just 20 rs and is one of the favourites among us. Our campus has almost 4 security guards with cctv cameras and is quite safe at the night time

I chose this course because it covers important subjects related to computer science, programming, databases, networking, and emerging technologies. The combination of theoretical knowledge and practical subjects influenced my decision to choose this course. The curriculum provides a good foundation in technical concepts and programming.
