Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum is well aligned with the structure and department. A comprehensive study path with supportive and knowledgeable professors. From the second semester, we study our core subjects, which are very useful for our interview preparations during the internship season. Different internship programmes are provided for research and journal work. The exam structure and lectures are quite engaging but hectic too.

Internships Opportunities

4

The placement and internship season is going quite well. Various companies have come for both interns and placements. Companies like DE Shaw, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, NatWest, Cisco, Visa, Arceusium, Axis Bank, warner bros, etc had visited for internships and for placements like ZS, Zomato, Flipkart, UKG, Oracle, ITC had visited. Many will visit in the next sem. So far, a lot of circuital and non-circuital are placed, and 3rd-year students are grabbing great internship offers too. All it takes is a good and strong resume and a well-executed interview.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure of Bit Mesra is transparent and decent. The fee structure is divided into eight semesters with sub-categories as tuition fee, development fee, hostel fees, and institute fees. Along with that, mess fees are also paid, which are not included in the tuition and are paid separately to the bit welfare society. At the time of admission, a one-time fee of around 90000 is paid. The fees increase every year, and the mess fees also increase. For the 2025 batch, in the 1st semester, the fees to be paid were 2.87 lakh, including the tuition, institute, development and one-time admission fee. The mess fees amounted to around 35-36k.From next semester onwards, the fees to be paid range from 1.95 to 2.7 lakhs + the mess fees. Scholarships are awarded based on CG in the semester performance and also based on crl rank in JEE. This was for the B.Tech programmes. For B.Arch, the course is quite expensive with around 30-35 lakhs in fees for the overall course.

Campus Life

3

The overall campus experience is quite overwhelming. The campus is huge and spacious. There are about 33 clubs, including the tech and cultural. Two fests take place everywhere,Pantheon (techfest) and bitotsav,(cultural fest). Bitotsav is a 4-day fest which includes cultural night, DJ night, heritage night, performances, and club events and marks the end with an electrifying concert. The buildings are huge and spacious, with different classrooms for different departments and lecture halls too. Different departments have different sections and buildings too. The library is vast with 3 floors, countless book-shelves and proper seating facilities. Sports complex is another excellent site to visit with a cricket oval too. Overall the environment and culture is warm and friendly.

Hostel Facilities

3

Girl have two hostels-H9 and H8. H8 has small rooms along with a mess, a gym and a cc store inside the hostel for buying grocery and everyday stuffs. H9 is huge and spacious made up of 2 3 buildings with a basketball court, outer lawn, gym , two mess , different open rooms and the rooms are wide and spacious too. The hostel rooms are pretty good in both the girls'hostel. Boys have hostel h1-h4,h5-h7,h12-13. For boys, the inner hostels are nice and decent. The rooms in each hostel is small but comfortable and the mess food varies in all the hostels, sometimes okayish, below average, decent to sometimes special dinners etc.

Admission

I was preparing for IIT. I could not make it up in the jeed advanced even in my drop year. However, I had performed quite well in JEE Mains, and I was getting premium and prestigious NITS, but my priority and only branch I wanted was CSE. During the Jossa counselling, I had prepared a well-thought-out college list, keeping CSE first. I did not get CSE in any of the NITS due to a large rat race, reservation(I was in other state) and also an increase in percentile. I felt really disheartened and dejected that I could have worked a little harder to increase my percentile by some decimal points.I had applied for CSAB as well, with the last hope that I would pursue CSE in my own state colleges(NIT JSR or BIT MESRA). However I still regret I should have kept NIT jsr first but unfortunately due to my own mistake, I got BIT Mesra. Nevertheless, whatever happend happened. Now I am in my 2nd year and my only target is to build a strong skillset and an outstanding technical skills and get a good intenrhsip in the 5th semester.

Faculty

5

The faculty is friendly, supportive, approachable and motivating. They motivate us towards different internship programmes, webinars, sessions and other professional opportunities too. They provide an in-depth curriculum that is easy and comprehensive. There are about 15-20 lectures per week. The professors provide us with offline and online resources, which are very useful for our quizzes and semester exams. We have 25 marks mid-semester and 50 marks end-semester. The rest of the 100 marks are made up of two quizzes of 10 marks each and assignments. We have different labs as per the department requirements. The labs are equipped and constructed. Each department building is well constructed. Lab marks are given based on lab performance, day-to-day evaluation, manual checking, quizzes and viva.75 percent attendace is mandatory to be appearing for examinations.

Interview Experience

4

The admission was done based on JEE rank under JOSSA Counselling. The seat reservations were same as that of NITS. The home state quota was applied for the applicable students. Students were given their desired branch based on what they had filled in the jossa list, what they were getting based on their ranks and what they got finally after the completion of counselling.

Night Life

5

After the classes, people mostly spend time in the canteens(2 3), the dominos outlet, ic arena(open space). Some like to walk in between the forest roads, some visit the river point, which has 4 entry points. Girls have to follow the proper in-time, which is 9 pm. Spending time with friends at the sports complex is another good option. Gyms are provided for girls in their respective hostels and for boys in the sports complex.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Actually my branch is Electronics and communication engineering but my major interest lies in development area , i have gained all the skills in my college by my own taking some guidance from the seniors as they are very helpful and supporting. Improvements in course curriculum could be like they have to basically add one more course or any training program to help students for making skills and teaching them for their placements.(apart of the course , i am saying not because i am from ECE department , its common from any branch student)
