Course Curriculum Overview

4

The main reason behind choosing this course was the choice of specialization offered. I have AI/ML specialization course. The whole course is designed according to the latest tech world requirements and is updated on regular basis to keep the students up to date. The curriculum prepares us for real world applications by encouragin us to practice on many websites such as: Hackerrank, leetcode, github, regular hackathons, coding competitions, etc. I feel there is not requirement for improvement in course curriculum as it is Up to Date. The frequency of CA is 3 in each sem. Almost having a gap of 2 weeks between any type of exam, let it be MTE, ETE or CA.

Internships Opportunities

4

The interniship and placements cell at LPU is very active. There are too many companies visiting the campus for Internships such as Google, Amazon, TCS, Infosys, ISRO, DRDO etc. with stipends ranging from 15k to 1.5lakhs per month.

Placement Experience

4

The placements at LPU are decent, the University provides placements to almost every student. The placement cell here is really very active. More than 1000 companies visit LPU during placement drives providing average package of 6-7LPA in CSE field. The highest package recorded was 2.5 crore from robotics and automation and 64 LPA in CSE department. 99% of students at LPU get placed. My plan after getting the degree is to join the corporate and work as a SDE or AI/ML engineer at MNC.

Fees and Financial Aid

The actual fee structure for LPU CSE (AI/ML) is 3.4 lakhs per year tuition fee + Hostel and mess Fee. The Hostel and Mess fee is divided further in categories such as : 1) Hostel: a) AC or NON-AC (150000 for AC single Seater and 120000 for NON-AC Single Seater) b) AC 2 seater - 130000 c) AC 3 seater - 120000 d) AC 4 seater - 100000 e) Non AC 2 seater - 100000 f) Non AC 3 seater - 85000 g) Non AC 5 seater - 65000 2) Mess: a) 4 Meals mess - 46000/year b) 3 meals mess - 42000/year c) 2 meals mess (Breakfast/Dinner, Lunch/Dinner) - 36000/year Scholarship Details (Mine): a) I have a Scholarship of 64% on tution fees for whole Btech Program: 55% by JEE Mains Percentile and 20% on tuition fee after applying 55% scholarship due to family's serving background. b) Also scholarship can be availed by LPUNEST exam, which gives 65% scholarship Max in Cat A students. The CON: I am satisfied with the level of scholarship University gives on tuition fees, but the hostel and mess fee is too high.

Campus Life

4

There are many fests organised in LPU, some of the major ones are: a) Nirvana b) Friday Fusion c) Sunburn (the biggest) almost every month there are fests happening. The classrooms are modern, specific according to the lectures they are designed.

Hostel Facilities

4

The resendential facilities are modern at LPU, there are security checks for hostels regularly, turnstiles with face scanning before entering hostels, warden support. and best thing about LPU is there is no ragging at all. All seniors are very friendly to the juniors. The accomodation registration is done while induction process at the time of admission only. I am in BH-6 Presently.

Admission

I had applied for TIET, BITS PILANI, COEP, NIT Srinagar. The TIET and BITS Pilani have a very high tuition fees and low scope of getting scholarships. While at COEP I was getting EE and At NIT Srinagar i was getting Mechanical Engineering. So I had to opt for LPU due to my keen intereset in CSE field mainly focusing on AI/ML. The main reasons behing the decision to choose this college was the specialization offered and lower fees due to scope of high scholarships. The scholarships offered here at LPU are very good. Almost each student studying here is having a scholarship. The admissions at LPU are done by 2 means mainly: LPUNEST examination or any other National Level Exams such as JEE, NEET,CUET. The ranks and scores in the above mentioned exams decide the level of scolarship we will get. There is not cut-off required to study at CSE in LPU except of having more than 60% in Board Examinations.

Faculty

4

The faculty to student ratio in college is decent, around 1:12, and the relationship between faculties and students is good. Many Faculties are friendly in behaviour except some exceptions. We can approach faculties in 3 ways: a) thorugh LPU Live b) through personal grps communication c) DSR query. There are also mentors alloted to each student who keep there record of academic and personal well being record. And also if any student has complaints regaring any faculty or any improvement is required relating to them, they can file an RMS enquiry which helps to interact with the system. Dr. Navneet Kaur and Dr. Anjori Sharma are great faculties of Eng. Mathematics and Eng. Physics. Dr. Sorab Kumar only requires a bit improvement in his interaction, rest all facukties are great in my course of 1st year. There are MTE and ETE in mid of semester and end of semester respectively. And in between of course CA are taken which play a crucial role in CGPA. The exams are not much difficult. If studied regularly, there is no worry at all.

Night Life

4

There are many CC( food courts) in Campus, with some restaurants and parks. Main restaurants are: Buzz, NK, Food factory. the central library is open till 12 pm and in exam season till 2 pm. while there are libraries are hostels also which are open 24/7. Some famous hangout places are: Eastwood Village, Buzz, Open theatre, Zaika, Laziz and Unicentre.

Other Applied Colleges

Pune Institute of Computer Technology- [PICT] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Engineering)

The college was offering Computer Engineering not Computer Science and Engineering, Therefore, I had to opt out from this option due to my keen interest in CSE specifically towards AI/ML.

UPES | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

I had appiled for UPES CSE, but the reason for not joining was the less number of top companies in placements of CSE field.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
