Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DA-IICT) was established in 2001. It is located in Gandhinagar, a city with seven Special Economic Zones and 10 industrial estates. DA-IICT received a ‘deemed university’ status in 2003. In 2019, NIRF ranked DA-IICT 91st among engineering colleges in India. It also has an ‘A’ accreditation from NAAC.

It is known for its course structure, which is largely project-based in nature, and its faculty members, all of whom have a PhD.

DA-IICT has around 330 seats in all, half of which are reserved for residents of Gujarat. In spite of this, the institute enjoys a pan- India student base.

The institute offers specializations across B.Tech, B.Tech (Honours), M.Tech, M.Sc, M.Des and PhD courses. For B.Tech and B. Tech (Honours), a candidate has to complete 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics, and either Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or Computer Science. For selection, a candidate should take the JEE-Main.

For M.Tech, eligibility criteria vary with the stream opted for. However, taking the GATE is a must for selection.

For M.Sc, a candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in any stream, in addition to appearing for the GATE for selection.

For M.Des, a candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Design, Science, Engineering, Technology, Humanities, Social Sciences, Fine Arts, Applied Arts; or a Professional Diploma from a recognized institution. For selection, a candidate either has to take DA-IICT DAT, or CEED.

Those who are interested in pursuing a PhD must have a Master’s degree, or preferably an M.Phil degree, along with three years of experience in the relevant field.

DA-IICT has consistently enjoyed a 100% placement rate. It has been a regular destination for reputed companies, with Microsoft, Wipro, Oracle, Google, Infosys and Tata featuring among recruiters. The average CTC among placed students is 600,000 INR per year. The highest package offered was 2,200,000 INR.

Ans. DAIICT ranked 91st among the engineering colleges in India. Whereas, NIT Surathkal ranks 21st by NIRF ranking. The best option among these two depends on the course of your choice.  However, here are some of the information about the two institutes which can be useful in choosing between these two institutes.  Academics:   DAIICT: The institute offers specializations across BTech, MTech, and Ph.D. courses. The admission for BTech is a 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths as compulsory subjects. JEE Main is compulsory for selection in BTech. For admission in MTech, the candidates must have 60% marks in BTech. A valid GATE score is mandatory for admission. The fees for different courses at the institute ranges from INR 65,000 to INR 3.75 lakhs. NIT Surathkal: The institute offers a BTech program for Mining Engineering. Mining at NIT Surathkal deals with practices, theories, technology in the extraction of mineral resources. Ans. IIITM, Gwalior, and DAIICT, Gandhinagar are two institutes of technology in our country. Both the institutions have been accredited by NAAC and DAIICT is graded ‘A’ by the same. IIITM is even approved by AICTE, while DAIICT is approved by UGC. IIITM is ranked 100th out of 300 in India by NIRF for BTech. Whereas, DAIICT is ranked 111th out of 300 in India for the same.
