National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra (or NIT Kurukshetra), is a public engineering institute located in Kurukshetra, Haryana. It is one of the 30 National Institutes of Technology established and administered by Government of India. The institute is accredited with the status of Institute of National Importance (INI) in December 2008.

NIT Kurukshetra is ranked 41 among Top Engineering Institutes by NIRF 2019. Dataquest-IDC-NASSCOM survey has also placed it among the Top 20 Engineering Institutes of the country taking into account the following parameters: Placement, Intellectual Capital, Infrastructure, Industry Interface and Recruiter’s Perception.

According to previous year’s placement statistics around 26% of UG students got a CTC above 10 lacs. The highest package offered was INR 40.63 LPA/-  in the field of Computer Science & Engineering followed by Production Engineering and Chemical Engineerin (INR 21 LPA/- for both).

Eligibility - Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and has obtained 50% marks in the board examination in order to apply for the B.Tech course.

NIT Kurukshetra B.Tech Selection Criteria

  • Candidates are granted admission into the course through CSAB counselling based on the JEE Main score.
  • A merit list is prepared which contains names of candidates based on the score in the exam.
  • Candidates whose names are listed on the list have to take part in the counselling.
  • During the counselling, applicants have to register themselves, fill the choice of course and admission and lock the filled choices.
  • The concerned authority allot seats to students based on the rank obtained and choices filled.
  • Caniddates who are allotted a seat need to report at the reporting center for document verification and payment of counselling fee.
  • Upon successful verification, caniddates will be provided with the Admission Letter.
  • At last, students need to report at the allotted institute (NIT Kurukshetra) to complete further admission formalities.

NOTE – Admission to Foreign Nationals/PIOs/NRIs is done through DASA (Direct admission of students abroad) based on SAT Score.

How to Apply for B.Tech Course?

  1. Visit the official website of JEE Main.
  2. Register for Online Application Form by entering the Email ID and Mobile Number. 
  3. As soon as registration is done, the system will generate a unique Application Number
  4. Note down this generated Application Number.
  5. Now create a password and choose a Security Question and fill its answer as well.
  6. Once the password is created and application number is recorded, login to fill the application form. 
  7. Enter the personal and academic details.
  8. Also, upload the scanned images of photographs and signature.
  9. Pay the application fee through Debit /Credit Card /Net Banking /UPI /PAYTM.
  10. After making a payment, print the Confirmation Page and keep it safe for future reference.

Eligibility - The minimum eligibility for M.Tech course is a Bachelor’s degree with at least 6.5 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) or 60% marks in aggregate based on all semesters in qualifying degree examination. For SC/ST candidates, 6.0 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) or 55% marks in aggregate is required.

NIT Kurukshetra M.Tech Selection Criteria

  • The institute accepts the score of GATE for selecting students. 
  • The final selection is based on the CCMT counselling.
  • Candidates who have a valid score in GATE have to take part in the counselling.
  • At the time of counselling, applicants have to register, fill the choice of preferred course and college and lock the choices.
  • Seat allotment will be done for the registered candidates on the basis of rank and choices.
  • Candidates who are allotted a seat need to confirm it by reporting at the allocated center.
  • They also need to carry their documents while reporting for verification purpose.
  • At last, mcandidates have to visit the alloted institute in order to pay the fee towards the seat confrimation.

  • M.Tech. seats are first filled by GATE qualified candidates, then by industry sponsored candidates and if seats remain vacant, by other candidates.
  • The non-GATE candidates are not eligible for scholarship.

NIT Kurukshetra MBA Selection Criteria

  • NIT Kurukshetra accepts the score of CAT/MAT/CMAT/GMAT exams in order to shortlist candidates for admission into the MBA course.
  • Applicants who have a valid score in any of the above exams are further called for GD and PI rounds.
  • Those who perform well in the later rounds are selected for admission.

  • For admission into MCA course, candidates have to take the NIMCET exam.
  • Post declaration of result, a merit list is prepared which inlcudes names of all the qualified candidates.
  • Such candidates have to appear for the NIMCET counselling.
  • During this counselling students have to fill the choice of course and college as per their prefernce.
  • Based on the rank in the NIMCET and choices filled by the candidates, seat allotment is done.
  • There are 3 rounds of seat allotment.
  • After the final round of allotment, caniddates have to visit the reporting center for docuement verification and payment of fees.

How to Apply for MCA Course?

  • Applicants need to vist the NIMCET webiste to register online.
  • Upon successful registration, they need to login in with the registered id and password to fill the Online Form
  • After filling of all the required data and pressing submit button, a complete application form with unique application number will be generated.
  • Candidate must quote this unique application number for future correspondences till the test is conducted.
  • Candidate need to pay the non-refundable processing fee (INR 1800/- for OPEN/OBC and INR 900/- for SC/ST) through NIMCET website before final submission of the online application form 
  • Also, they are advised to take a printout of the generated application form and send it with e-receipt of the payment and all relevant documents to the given address by Speed Post/Registered Post on or before due date:

Students who wish for higher studies to research in their concerned subject can avail the Ph.D course offered by the college. Students can opt for full time/part time/off campus as per their choice.

For admission to the Ph.D. courses, the candidates need to sit for an entrance test conducted by the college which is then followed by Interview and Presentation rounds.

The eligible applicants will be tested by the DRC ( Department Research Committee ) through written test. Based on their performance in the written test, DRC can shortlist a number of candidates for interview as per the number of vacancies available in the department.

The applicants, who are employed in an NIT on a regular / contract (including project staff) for three years or more, are exempted from the Entrance test.

How to Apply for Ph.D Course?

  • Application for Ph.D. can be downloaded from the institute’s portal.
  • Candidates need to address their application to “The Director NIT Kurukshetra”, and need to submit it to the office of the Registrar, Golden Jubilee Administrative Building, NIT Kurukshetra,Kurukshetra-136119.
  • The prescribed application fee of Rs. 200/- must be submitted along with the application form in the form of Demand Draft in favor of Director, National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra payable at Kurukshetra.
  • Alternatively, applicants may deposit application fee of Rs. 200/- online using SBI i-collect facility. In this case they must attach receipt of the online payment along with the application.
