Remarks:

Due to some reasons: 1. This is an Institute of National Importance (NIT). 2. The placement of our college is much better than other Nuts or other government colleges. It has secured 8th rank among all NITs for placement records. 3.It has secured 79 rank in NIRF ranking this year. 4.It provides single room per student which is better to study at night as well. It means there is no roommate and you can leave alone and nobody will disturb you and you it is better to prepare for GATE as well. 5.It's infrastructure is better than others. A new academic building is built there and hostels are also new. 6.The Institute is located in Industrial areas sue to which the placement in metallurgy, mechanical and production engineering is good.

NIT Jamshedpur: 1 Answered Question

What is your review about NIT Jamshedpur?

Megha Rohilla
Arjita PathakB.Tech (Hons.) from National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur (2018)

My friend recently graduated from NIT Jamshedpur. Here is her review.

Location: The campus is located in Adityapur, surrounded by industries. It is a bit away from Tatanagar Railway Station. Since Jamshedpur doesn’t have an airport the best way to reach the campus is from Ranchi via NH-33.

Infrastructure-wise: Both the hostels and the computer centers are revamped. The main buildings of the campus are still under further development but are expected to be in maintenance soon. However, the mega hostels, known as J & K, are an enhanced sight of the campus.

Academics

  • The quality of professors or the methodology of their teaching is quite not up to the mark. Few professors of the institute somewhat still follow the old pedagogy and are sometimes not cooperative. On contrary, the newly appointed Ad-hoc faculties are supportive and are willing to guide students.
  • Students of the institute perform well in competitive examinations. Many made it to IITs, IIMs, or various international institutes as well.
  • The Central Workshop and laboratories, substantially Fluid, Thermodynamics, and Metallurgical are not quite well maintained.

Placement Reports:

A few major recruiting companies are (in respective branches) as follows.

  • CSE: Amazon, Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle
  • ECE: Amazon, Oracle Finance, Wipro, Mahindra Comviva
  • EEE: Tata Steel, JSW Steel, L&T, BPCL
  • ME: Tata Motors, L&T, Tata Steel, BPCL
  • MME: JSW Steel, Vedanta, Tata Metaliks, Tata Steel
  • CE: Simplex, L&T
  • PIE: Tata Hitachi, JK Tyre, JK Paper, Tata Motors

FIITJEE, Rao Academy, Career Point, etc, are examples of coaching institutes that recruited as well. The highest package received was 30 LPA while the average salary was 12 LPA

Extracurricular Activities:

The TechnoManagement fest, Ojass, and Cultural fest, Culfest are the major events of the institute. There are several automobile teams as well, like Team Phoenix, the aircraft team; Team Rays, the hybrid car team and Team Daksh, Off road car team.

This is the in-depth scenario of the institute.
