03 Aug, 2026 CAT 2026 registration begins. Aspirants can register @iimcat.ac.in till Sept 15, 2026. CAT 2026 is scheduled for Nov 29, 2026. Read News.

IIM Kozhikode Admission 2027 covers three distinct entry pathways. The flagship Post Graduate Programme (PGP) selects candidates through CAT score and a WAT-PI process. The Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) at Kochi campus serves working professionals through its own EMAT test or valid CAT, GMAT, or GRE scores.

The newly launched Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) uses an in-house aptitude test for undergraduate admission. All three programmes operate on a merit-only selection model with no lateral or direct admission route.

Admission Update:
  • PGP, PGP-Finance and PGP-LSM (2027-29 Batch): CAT 2026 registration is open from Aug 3 to Sep 15, 2026. Exam on Nov 29, 2026. IIMK shortlisting and WAT-PI rounds will follow CAT results in January 2027 (Tentative).
  • EPGP (2027 Batch, Kochi Campus): Phase 3 applications open Sep 1 to Nov 20, 2026. PI is scheduled for Dec 12 to 13, 2026. Programme starts April 2027.
  • BMS (2027-28 Batch): The inaugural 2026-27 batch cycle is concluded. Next cycle details are expected around February 2027 (Tentative).
  • PGP intake for the 2026-28 batch was 480 seats across the PGP, PGP-Finance, and PGP-LSM tracks combined.
  • IIM Kozhikode PGP has an average selection rate of fewer than 1 in 100 eligible CAT applicants, making it highly competitive.
  • Minimum qualifying CAT 2025 overall percentile for General category was 85 percentile as per the 2026-28 batch admission policy. Cutoffs for 2027-29 will be released separately.
  • EPGP admission requires a minimum of 3 years full-time post-graduation work experience. Internships and CA/CS articleships do not count.
  • BMS is a 4-year undergraduate programme at the Kochi campus. Admission is through IIMK’s own aptitude test, not JEE or CUET.
  • Reservation follows Government of India norms for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, EWS, and PwD categories across all programmes.
  • IIM Kozhikode has not publicly disclosed any management quota or NRI quota seats for the PGP or EPGP.

IIM Kozhikode PGP Admission 2027

IIM Kozhikode offers three two-year postgraduate management tracks under the PGP umbrella. These are PGP (General Management), PGP-Finance, and PGP-LSM (Liberal Studies and Management). All three follow an identical CAT-based admission process for the 2027-29 batch.

As per the Quora Discussion on IIM Kozhikode interview experience, candidates report that the WAT topic is revealed only at the venue, giving 20 to 25 minutes for the essay. The personal interview panel of two to three members tends to go deep into prior work experience and academic background, with questions tailored to each candidate’s profile rather than following a fixed script.

IIM Kozhikode PGP Eligibility Criteria 2027

Any candidate with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognised university may apply. There is no minimum graduation percentage requirement. Class X and Class XII marks form part of the Aggregate Index Score used for shortlisting.

Category Minimum CAT Overall Percentile Minimum Sectional Percentile (Each Section)
General and EWS 85 80
OBC-NCL 75 70
SC 60 55
ST and PwD 50 45

Cutoffs above are from the 2026-28 batch admission policy (CAT 2025) for reference. Cutoffs for the 2027-29 batch will be released in the official admission policy document on iimk.ac.in.

  • Candidates must meet both the overall and each sectional percentile threshold to qualify for shortlisting.
  • Meeting the minimum cutoff does not guarantee a WAT-PI call. The shortlist is based on the Aggregate Index Score (AIS).
  • Final-year graduation students may apply but must complete their degree before joining.

IIM Kozhikode PGP Selection Criteria 2027

IIMK PGP admission follows a two-stage selection process. Stage 2 creates a shortlist using the AIS formula. Stage 3 determines final merit through WAT and PI performance.

Stage 2: Shortlisting via Aggregate Index Score (AIS)

The AIS determines which CAT-qualified candidates receive a WAT-PI call. The formula (as per the 2026-28 batch admission policy) is: CAT performance (50%), Class XII marks (20%), Class X marks (15%), and diversity and work experience (15%).

  • Gender diversity: 10 points for female and transgender candidates.
  • Academic diversity: 5 points for non-engineering graduates.
  • Work experience: Up to 5 points for full-time post-graduation experience. Duration and nature both considered.
  • Candidates must select IIM Kozhikode during CAT registration to be considered for shortlisting.

Stage 3: Final Selection Weightage

For the 2026-28 batch, the final composite score was calculated using these weightages: CAT Index Score (35%), Personal Interview (35%), Written Ability Test (20%), and Resume Score (10%).

Selection Component Weightage
CAT Index Score 35%
Personal Interview (PI) 35%
Written Ability Test (WAT) 20%
Resume Score 10%
  • WAT is a 20 to 25 minute written essay on a topic revealed at the venue.
  • PI panels have 2 to 3 faculty members. Evaluation covers academic background, work experience, and general awareness.
  • PI is conducted in six cities: Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai, and New Delhi.
  • Resume score evaluates career trajectory, achievements, and extracurricular profile.

As per Collegedunia Reviews, students who cleared the IIMK WAT-PI process noted that the interview panel focused heavily on academic concepts and consistency of goals. Several reviewers mentioned that shortlisted candidates with work experience were asked to connect their domain knowledge to business decision-making scenarios during the PI.

How to Apply for PGP at IIM Kozhikode?

  • Register for CAT 2026 at iimcat.ac.in between Aug 3 and Sep 15, 2026. Select IIM Kozhikode as a preferred institute during registration.
  • After CAT results (expected Dec 24, 2026), IIMK will send Stage 2 registration emails to eligible candidates.
  • Complete Stage 2 registration on the IIMK portal at iimk.ac.in/apps/Admission/PGP/Login and pay the application fee of INR 3,000.
  • Appear for WAT and PI at the assigned city centre on the scheduled dates.
  • Track Stage 3 offer and waitlist status through the AIMS portal at aims.iimk.ac.in.

Note: CAT percentile alone does not determine the IIMK shortlist. Candidates with 90-plus percentile but weak Class X or XII marks have been rejected at Stage 2. A strong academic record across all three parameters (CAT, Class X, Class XII) significantly improves AIS ranking.

IIM Kozhikode Admission FAQs

Ques. What is the minimum CAT percentile required for IIM Kozhikode PGP admission?

Ans. As per the 2026-28 batch admission policy, the minimum qualifying overall percentile for the General and EWS category was 85 percentile. The minimum sectional percentile (VARC, DILR, and QA each) was 80 percentile. Cutoffs for the 2027-29 batch will be released in the official policy document on iimk.ac.in. Meeting the minimum cutoff does not guarantee a WAT-PI call. The Aggregate Index Score (AIS) determines the shortlist.

Ques. Does IIM Kozhikode accept only CAT, or are other exams also accepted for PGP?

Ans. CAT is the only accepted entrance exam for the flagship PGP, PGP-Finance, and PGP-LSM programmes. GMAT and GRE are not accepted for these three tracks. For the EPGP (for working professionals), candidates may apply with CAT, GMAT, or GRE scores. Candidates without any of these may take the EMAT (EPGP’s own aptitude test).

Ques. How is the AIS (Aggregate Index Score) calculated for IIMK PGP shortlisting?

Ans. As per the 2026-28 batch admission policy, the AIS weights are: CAT performance (50%), Class XII marks (20%), Class X marks (15%), and gender and academic diversity plus work experience (15%). Female and transgender candidates get 10 diversity points. Non-engineering graduates receive 5 academic diversity points. Work experience adds up to 5 points. All AIS components are added to produce a ranked shortlist within each category.

Ques. What is the IIM Kozhikode PGP final selection formula after WAT and PI?

Ans. For the 2026-28 batch, the final composite score was: CAT Index Score (35%), Personal Interview (35%), Written Ability Test (20%), and Resume Score (10%). The WAT essay topic is given at the venue. The PI lasts 15 to 25 minutes with a panel of 2 to 3 faculty members. Panels are held in six cities including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, and New Delhi.

Ques. Is work experience mandatory for IIM Kozhikode PGP admission?

Ans. No. Work experience is not mandatory for the PGP. Fresh graduates may apply. However, relevant work experience earns bonus points in the AIS formula (up to 5 points), which can improve the shortlisting rank. For the EPGP, a minimum of 3 years of post-graduation work experience is mandatory.

Ques. How many seats does IIM Kozhikode PGP have and what are the reservation details?

Ans. The PGP intake for the 2026-28 batch was 480 seats across all three tracks (PGP, PGP-Finance, PGP-LSM). Reservation follows Government of India norms: OBC-NCL (27%), SC (15%), ST (7.5%), EWS (10%), and PwD (5% horizontal). Each category has its own CAT cutoff threshold as specified in the admission policy.

Ques. What is the total fee for IIM Kozhikode PGP?

Ans. The total fee for the 2026-28 batch PGP was INR 24,17,000 for the 2-year programme (Year 1: INR 12,42,000 and Year 2: INR 11,75,000). This includes tuition, hostel, and other academic charges. Fees are subject to revision for the 2027-29 batch. The application fee is INR 3,000 (non-refundable), paid after receiving the Stage 2 shortlist email.

Ques. What is the IIMK BMS programme and who should apply?

Ans. The BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies - Honours with Research) is a 4-year undergraduate management programme at IIM Kozhikode’s Kochi campus. It is intended for Class XII pass candidates who want a management degree from an IIM without an MBA. Admission is through the IIMK BMS Aptitude Test, not JEE or CUET. The inaugural 2026-27 batch has begun. Applications for the 2027-28 batch are expected to open around February 2027.

Ques. Does IIM Kozhikode offer direct admission or a management quota?

Ans. No. IIM Kozhikode does not offer direct admission to any programme. All PGP seats are filled through CAT-based shortlisting and WAT-PI merit. IIMK has not publicly disclosed any management quota or NRI quota seats for the PGP or EPGP. Candidates must go through the standard selection process.

Ques. Can final-year graduation students apply for IIM Kozhikode PGP?

Ans. Yes. Final-year undergraduate students may appear for CAT 2026 and apply to IIM Kozhikode PGP. Such candidates must complete their graduation degree and submit proof of passing before joining the programme in April 2027. IIM Kozhikode: 10 Answered Questions

I got selected in IIM Kozhikode but I want to try for a better IIM next year. Will this affect my chances?

NebulaNoble

Honestly, getting selected in IIM Kozhikode is a great achievement, but if you feel like aiming for a better IIM next year, it might affect your chances a bit. The Executive Post Graduate Programme is quite rigorous, and with exams every three months, it can be really tough to juggle preparation for a new IIM while managing this course.

Just keep in mind that each IIM has its own selection criteria, and having IIM Kozhikode on your CV could be a plus, but they’ll also look at your CAT score and overall performance next year. So, focus on that and see how it goes!

How should I prepare for the IIM Kozhikode Interview?

Aafiya
Epil Gagrai

If you have been shortlisted for the WAT-PI round at IIM Kozhikode, then you’ll have to fill up a form and provide details about your academic background, work experience, and extracurricular activities. This is the first step where you need to be very careful about what you are writing, because there are going to be alot of questions being raised from all this.

There will be around 2 panellists during the personal interview round and the type of questions they can ask are:

  • They can start with ‘Tell us about yourself’.
  • There can be questions related to your academics. There could be technical questions and some general questions like why you chose to do this course. Try to be prepared as much as possible about your field of graduation as they can ask anything from it.
  • If you have work experience, then they can ask about your job profile and what was your responsibilities in the company. There can be questions related to your organization like what type of organization it is, what they do, what they sell, who are their competitors, etc.
  • Then again they can ask why did you decide to leave the job and join the MBA program. Basically, you need to prepare why you want to pursue an MBA? Do not miss out on preparing for this question.
  • Then there will also be questions raised on your extracurricular activities. They can ask questions on every organization you volunteered for or any short course or certification you did. They may ask about your experience and what you take back from it.

So overall, you need to know every single detail about yourself. They can ask anything from it. So mention anything that you are not sure about or you have not prepared for it. It is fine if you are unable to answer one or two questions, but try to be confident. The panellists will try to create pressure but try to be calm and keep a smiling face.

What is the admission criteria for IIM Kozhikode?

Rishika BatraStudied MBA from Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (2021)

During the shortlisting at IIM Kozhikode, a candidate is selected on the basis of his/her CAT score, 12th marks, graduation score, work experience and academic and/or gender diversity.

98 percentile is decent enough to get you an interview call if you have a very good academic record and 3 or more years of work experience. But to convert the call, you’ll have to perform well in the GD PI round. The final shortlisting gives a high weightage to GD PI and/or WAT and work experience of a candidate.

Make sure to score high in your CAT exam, and perform equally well in the GD PI/ WAT round. This will increase your selection chances at IIM Kozhikode.

How do I make sure to get admission at IIM Kozhikode provided I have a profile of X-91, XII-89, B.Tech (EEE)-65, and also a GEM fresher?

Rishabh SinghLives in banglore

IIM Kozhikode evaluates your academic accomplishments in this manner- 75% for CAT score, 20% for class 12th score, and 5% for academic diversity.

You have an average academic performance throughout, and do not belong to the academic diversity quota. In this case, a CAT percentile of 99.2+ will be required to get you a call from IIMK. After which, your admission will be based on your performance in GD PI. My brother had the same score in his 12th boards as you. He ended up receiving a call at 99.25 percentile.

Try getting a high CAT score to get a call from IIM Kozhikode.

Which B-school is harder to get into when you have a 'mediocre' academic profile and 1 yr of work experience, FMS Delhi or IIM K, L, and I?

Akriti Guptalives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Among the above B-schools, FMS will be easier to enter because other IIMs like IIM K, IIM L, and IIM I give more weightage to past academic performance. FMS selection will be based on Personal Interviews, Group Discussions, and CAT scores.

IIM K gives 40% weightage while the initial shortlisting of candidates for Personal Interviews is contrary to IIM L and IIM Indore which gives only 20% weightage. IIM Indore gives no weightage to work experience where IIM K gives only 5% and IIM L gives 10% weightage.

All in all, if you are a mediocre student then you have to outperform others in terms of CAT score and PI/GD performance. Indore is home for freshers and competing here will be difficult but you should focus more on FMS then IIM L and then IIM K for your shortlisting and put your best foot forward and convert your calls.

All the best and Best of luck for your D-day.

What are my chances of getting into IIM Kozhikode, with 90 percentile in the CAT if I'm a female OBC fresher engineer hailing from Kozhikode?

Shivam PandeyPGP from Indian Institute of Management Amritsar (Graduated 2020)

To get into IIM Kozhikode, a percentage of atleast 95 is preferable. Being from Kozhikode won’t be of much help.

One major piece of advice to you if you are a fresher is to indulge yourself in extracurricular activities. Get extra certificates through internships or part-time jobs. Paid courses that offer certificates will also be helpful. All this will help you in the GD-Pi process and you're likely to convert your call.
