Ques. How can we get internships at IIT Bombay?

● Top Answer By Shikha Singh on 28 May 21

Ans. One of my friends studied at IIT Bombay. He has seen his fair share of rejection selection during placements. Let me share his experience at IIT Bombay and see how he got an internship there.  IIT Bombay enroll interns in the summer i.e, from June or July for a period of 2 months. You can get an internship at IIT Bombay by contacting the professor of IIT.  If you are a B.Tech 2nd or 3rd-year student and know an intern role then you can directly apply from your college. Here are the few steps that you can take: Firstly, choose the area of your interest. You must have enough knowledge of the latest trends in your selected area.  You can also go to IIT Bombay’s official website and the departments. Check the details of professors. You have to choose professors who are working in your area of interest. To apply, you must have a good resume highlighting your achievements in the area you are applying to work.  If you are fresher and don’t have many achievements then you can mention your grades, research materials, seminars, or presentations that you have worked on.  Send an email to professors of respective IIT Bombay departments. Make sure your email is concise and to the point.  If no reply came within a week, you can also send a reminder email.  You can also try calling, but it is not encouraged.  Once the professor sees your email, he can further take or not take a telephonic interview and ask you to join him as an intern.  You can take help from your college faculties and directly get into IIT Bombay if you get the recommendation from any faculty from your college. Remember, interning at IIT Bombay takes ample time to find the right professor to contact. If you are looking for a 6 months internship, then it is better you start looking and researching from now.Read more

Ques. Is it better to take Civil engineering at IIT Bombay than IT at MNNIT Allahabad or not?

● Top Answer By Bhawna Singhal on 29 Apr 21

Ans. My first and foremost answer would be to go to IIT Bombay for Civil Engineering. There are quite a few reasons for this: If you are deeply interested in IT, you will still have different options like department change or do a minor degree in CS or do CS courses independently. Department changes might be difficult, but at the end of the first year, students have the provision to change their departments. However, this highly depends on your CGPA. And at IIT Delhi, only 10 to 15% of students are provided with this. You can move to the CSE department with a high CGPA. You will definitely get to learn a lot in any of these options. You don’t have to worry about placements either as a number of companies visit IIT Bombay every year so you will get placed easily. If you don’t find IT as interesting after you join, there’s still a lot more you can try at IIT Bombay. The environment in the college is extremely enriching and overall, you will be provided with a lot of exposure. You can even choose courses based on humanities and management and get amazing insights. Lastly, you will definitely get some great internships and can even get placed in non-core firms if you work hard enough. All these factors will help build your career and personality. You will also grow a lot. So, you should definitely go with IIT Bombay rather than MNNIT Allahabad.Read more

Ques. Which has a better campus: the IIM Ahmedabad or the IIT Bombay?

● Top Answer By Suresh Singh on 16 Apr 21

Ans. The campus of IIM Ahmedabad has a lot of things to capture. Each of which will be discussed beneath. Before the progression, IIM Ahmedabad is considered India’s best business school and has won the chance to be featured twice in the first slot in the NIRF- rated Top Management Colleges in India in the previous three years. Apart from that, IIM Ahmedabad has been bestowed with numerous things which are briefed below: A digital wall clock, which possibly can be thought of as an ordinary thing, but is definitely not. Amazing gypsum board ceiling tiles of the acoustic pane, which is the eye of the campus. It helps out by noise absorption. The next amazing thing is the organized amphitheater design seating arrangement. The best kind of wooden and metal-lined swivel chairs with leather cushioned seats. Front wall-mounted projector white screen. Various equipment, like desktops, laptops, and more. Remote control of the projector, and wireless presenter remote control. Wifi set-top boxes, which are moreover a significant part of any campus. A ginormous wooden table with a thick glass sheet present before the chalkboard.  A wooden chair with leather cushions. It is the most basic, yet fundamental thing. Chalkboard focusing lamps, which many campuses lack. Linear, rectangular, and round ceiling lamps, and several more. Polycarbonate electric switchboard with on/off switches at each desk, which is rather amazing. The other most important things the campus has to include, separate light and ceiling fans switch panels, wireless hand, and collar mics. These are few amazing things about the IIM Ahmedabad campus which students, for several years, have highly cherished.Read more

Ques. What rank should we get to enter the IIT Bombay?

● Top Answer By Sonal Jain on 08 Apr 21

Ques. What are the differences you noticed between IIM Ahmedabad and IIT Bombay?

● Top Answer By Avinash Singh on 19 Mar 21

Ans. Having friends who studied from both IIT Bombay and then IIM Ahmedabad, I think I can answer this question. Without any beating about the bush, he addressed the question right away. These are some points of the differences that he personally felt: Academics: A topper was respected more at IIM Ahmedabad. Administration: IIM A feels much like a company.  Work Ethic: You will find that people at IIM A works much harder on average than IIT Bombay. Infrastructure: Despite IIT Bombay having a larger campus area of 550 acres, IIM A having just 102 acres campus area has better infrastructure and facilities overall to stay in.  Smartness: One of my friends thinks his peers at IIT B were smarter on average although the ones at IIM A are hard working.  Friendships: Friendships from IIT Bombay have been better than IIM A. Relationships:  It can be said that the relationships go out well at IIM A as compared to IIT B on average. Peer Group: It is true that there is class competition in both of these institutes, but it feels like IITB is a family. COLLEGES IIT B IIM A FEES (IN LAKHS) INR 8 INR 28 PERCENTAGE PLACEMENTS 95.56 100 SEATS 1012 398 Overall, both of these institutes are eminent in their fields, and noticing the difference as such, can depend upon your subjective experience.Read more

Remarks :

It is one of the premier institutes of the country with world-class infrastructure and facilities. It equally focuses on both academics and extracurricular activities like sports and cultural activities. There is immense competition and pressure to get here. I was admitted here after clearing the jee advanced examination on 27/09/2020 then I had to undergo the JOSAA counseling to get to this college and my branch. This was among the top colleges in the country and probably around the globe so it was a no-brainer to get here. Everyone talks of this college highly which motivated me to get here from a very young age.

Admission :

One has to clear GATE with good rank in respective branch then appear in counselling. No Group discussion or personal interview is conducted before the final selection of candidates. GATE checks the technical knowledge along with general intelligence. 6-8months of preparation is enough to crack GATE with good rank.

Remarks :

IIT Bombay is one of India?Ûªs best colleges. It provides great exposure and countless opportunities in every aspect. The courses are relevant and the faculty is world class. Research laboratories are appropriate and a lot of attention is paid on research work. Mtech admits are done through GATE. Chemical engineering is best taught at IIT bombay in India. There are no such drawbacks if you are inclined towards engineering by heart.

Remarks :

It is highly ranked in terms of academics and research facilities. Mumbai has very nice weather as compared to other cities like Delhi, Chennai, Kanpur etc. The campus is located in the heart of the city, with easy access to the airport and other necessities. The admission process is entirely based on Jee Advanced Rank. Toppers have historically chosen this institute and this was a major contributor to my decision for choosing IIT Bombay.

Admission :

After graduation from Jabalpur University, I had two options: 1) to try and get selected to BARC Graduate training engineer (first choice) or 2) Get admitted to a Postgraduate course in Electrical Engineering at IIT B. IIT had the process of entrance examination followed by an interview. Unfortunately, the date and timing of both the BARC interview and IIT test were on the same day same time. Went to BARC as it was the first choice. After the BARC interview visited IIT but the entrance tests and interviews were already completed. Contacted the head of the electrical engineering department (Late Prof C Balakrishnan), who was kind enough to give the test and called me on the following day for an interview. Got selected and joined the program on schedule in July 1967.

Remarks :

The best thing about IIT Bombay was the liberty and exposure it provided to the students. Right from academics and research to a plethora of extracurricular activities. It allowed you to pursue careers in fields one could not even think of before joining college. I have friends from college, who today are pursuing research as Ph.D. students and at some very good core companies, and at the same time, some are among very good athletes & actors. Also, in spite of a gender ratio of 10:1, you can always find boys and girls working together towards common interests.

Admission :

Our college has an elaborate entrance exam called IIT-JEE which is a countrywide exam and the score makes you eligible for all the IITs. The exam is of two stages, one around the first week of April and another on the last week of May. The entrance exam is pretty elaborate and hence people undergo preparation in their classes 11 and 12 in multiple coaching centres across the country. The exam is primarily on 3 subjects: Maths, Physics, and Chemistry. It's highly recommended that people only choose this college entrance if they are already good at it because the actual exam paper is world-renowned to be the toughest of all. Choosing a branch and college are highly biased on the rank you get in the exam.

Remarks :

Our college management is good, thanks to the college student body that are elected from students and actively take part in all the major decision-making process of our college and hence ensure the best for all the students.
