Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, formerly known as Amravati University, is a public state university that was set up on May 1st, 1983 and is located at Amravati in the Vidarbha region of the state of Maharashtra, India. SGBAU has its jurisdiction over the Western Vidarbha areas that encompass five districts namely Amravati, Yavatmal, Akola, Buldhana and Washim. The UGC approved University is Re-Accredited with Grade ‘A’ by NAAC. Admission to SGBAU Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Research Programs will be on the basis of state level entrance exams namely, GATE and MH CET.

The Eligibility criteria for the Courses offered by SGBAU is as follows-
SGBAU offers four-year full-time B.Tech Program and two-year full-time M.Tech Program to the candidates in several specializations. The criteria to apply for B.Tech is Intermediate in a relevant discipline and for M.Tech is B.E./ B.Tech degree with minimum required marks. Candidate will be shortlisted on the basis of MH CET Exam for B.Tech and GATE For M.Tech.
SGBAU offers three-year LL.B. program and two-year LL.M course to candidates who satisfy the required eligibility criteria. The criteria to apply for LL.B. is Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with minimum 45% marks. To apply for LL.M. program a candidate must possess an LL.B. degree with minimum required marks. Shortlisted candidates will be selected on the basis of MH CET entrance exam conducted by DHE Maharashtra.
SGBAU offers MBA and MCA to candidates who possess Bachelor’s Degree in any stream from a recognized university with minimum 50% marks in aggregate. Admission to the MBA and MCA program is done through MAH MBA/ MMS CET and MAH MCA CET/ AIMCET entrance exam, respectively, conducted at state level by DTE Maharashtra.
The University offers two-year PG Programs viz, M.Sc., M.P.Ed., M.Lib.I.Sc., M.Ed. and M.A. Eligible Candidate will be shortlisted on the basis entrance exam conducted by the university. The minimum eligibility to apply is Graduation in a relevant discipline with minimum required marks.
The University offers Ph.D. and M.Phil. programs at the Doctoral level in various specializations. Candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. and M.Phil. programs should have a Master’s Degree with minimum 55% marks in the relevant subject from a recognized university. Selection for Ph.D./ M.Phil. is done based on marks scored in Ph.D. Aptitude Test (PAT) and interview conducted by the university.
