For the social science courses, there is no campus placement normally students after completing thier pg they will write the UGC NET exam or continue by PHD studies. courses in the school of social science are integrated programs. We can quit the course after 3 years if we had completed 120 credits. Normally no other universities offer quite options for the integrated programs. But Pondicherry University offers this is its plus points.
As I mentioned earlier, the placement cell needs to fuction mkre efficiently. Zoho and SGI Global are the 2 companies that I can recall who came for placements. The Alumni network is not as strong as other colleges.
Placement was an average when compare to bschools. But everyone got placed at my time whosoever was interested mostly banks will come for the placement. Like - hdfc, icici, axis etc other banks also came for the placement and lot of companies like - ITC, icici securities, Mahindra and mahindra etc. And if talk about average placement on year on year it is around 70 to 80% of student will get placed.
The placements started from Feb for the last year students right during the 3rd semester of the course. The best companies come first such as TCS,CTC, majorly Information technology companies were the one visiting and later smaller companies, start up's came in for recruitment.

Major travel companies like make my trip, ease my trip, pick your trail, Ebix and do visit our department for campus recruitment. Usually, the recruitment drive consist of a written test and interview. Almost, 100 percentage of students will be placed every year. Our department has a dedicated placement committee for training and preparing students for recruitment drive.
Placements are good. Some departments offer 100% placement assistance. Major companies are CCD, AXIS BANK, HDFC, ICICI, SOUTH INDIAN BANK, PICK YOUR TRAIL, VKC, etc. Many students start business near campus after studies. Placements are also done through alumni.
I opted for a marketing internship at hidesign. Internships are your own duty. You have to search for it. The department will just give you a letter for presenting them.
Students do both summer and winter internships in our course in many reputed institutions. Generally, the banking companies, both public sector and private sector approach our institution for campus placements. Recently, Chegg India visited our campus to select students with subject expertise and hired them. The general steps followed by these companies for the recruitment drive are: 1. They ask for the CVs of the interested students applying for a post. 2. Shortlisting of the candidates based on work experiences, educational qualifications and extra-curricular activities. 3. Personal Interview of the shortlisted candidates (sometimes a written exam and group discussion is also conducted) The tentative number of students placed every year from our campus is 25-30%. Yes, the institution takes special steps to prepare students for the placement season through its 'Equal Opportunity & Placement Cell".
