Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar, popularly known as NIT Jalandhar is a public engineering institute. It came into existence in 1987 and is located in Jalandhar, Punjab. At first, the institute functioned as a Regional Engineering College. Later on, it was accredited with the status of ‘National Institute of Technology’ by the Govt. of India under the aegis of MHRD on October 17, 2002.

The institute is ranked 13th among engineering colleges of India by NIRF 2019. It is spread over 154 acres of land surrounded by greenery. It also consists of many playgrounds such as cricket, football, volleyball, badminton, etc. Thus, students along with their studies are active in sports too.

Moreover, NITJ is close to many hill stations like Manali, Shimla, Dalhousie, Rohtang, etc. Therefore, during summer vacations students can enjoy their time being away from their hectic schedules.

At present, NIT Jalandhar offers B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc, MBA and Ph.D. programs. For admission into B.Tech, applicants must have a valid score in JEE Main. However, the final seat is allotted during the JoSAA Counselling. While in the case of M.Tech admission is done through CCMT Counselling based on the GATE score.

Candidates who are seeking admission in M.Sc are required to have an IIT JAM score based on which they are called for CCMN Counselling. Admission to MBA depends upon the score in CAT/MAT/CMAT/GMAT exams. If an individual does not have any of the scores then he or she can appear in the institute’s entrance test. The final selection is done on the basis of performance in Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology also grants admission in Ph.D. for which it conducts a Written Test. Those who qualify this test have to be present for the Presentation and Interview rounds based on which final selection is done.

Ques. How is PEC Chandigarh at present? Should I go for it over NIT Jalandhar?

● Top Answer By Sakshi Gupta on 04 May 21

Ans. PEC Chandigarh is a good college and has much more reputation and placements records than NIT Jalandhar, moreover Chandigarh city is a good place to live and study.  Below given are some facts about PEC: It is getting renewed and lots of sports facilities are improving, new centers like Siemens Centre of excellence and solar tech park are made. Construction of new hostels is about to begin. With an extensive alumni base spreading from academic stalwarts like Satish Dhawan, Kalpana Chawla, Baadshah and Shalabh Kumar are incredible. Voyagers scheme where students get funded by the college to explore rural India is surely another catching thing about the college.  New faculties that are highly qualified are being brought up into the system with the new DSA and Director things are improving.  Placements are improving everywhere but if the student considers PEC and gets a branch-like CS or Mechanical then for sure they will land a core job. The highest package this year was 42 lacs and only a few students at top IITs got more packages than this. The table shows a brief overview of the institution: Particulars PEC Chandigarh NIT Jalandhar Average Salary Rs. 10 lakhs Rs. 8.57 lakhs Highest Salary Rs. 45 lakhs Rs. 43.5 lakhs Entrance Criteria JEE Main JEE Main Fees Rs. 6.39 lakhs Rs. 6.76 lakhs But the Department of Mechanical Engineering needs to improve its curriculum and teaching standards but that would be the case with academics in every college so maybe that's why self-learning has become so important. Overall PEC Chandigarh is on par with NIT Jalandhar and one can opt for PEC Chandigarh.Read more

Ques. I am getting ECE at NIT Jalandhar, ME at PEC Chandigarh, and BITS at Mesra Ranchi. My rank is near 13000. What should I choose, considering future prospects?

● Top Answer By Komal Chawla on 04 May 21

Ans. One of my cousins is from PEC Chandigarh. So I know about the situation here. It is a simple answer that you should go for Mechanical in PEC Chandigarh. Because PEC is the second-best institute in northern India, after DTU. And the rank at which you are getting Mechanical is the rank at which you would not have gotten Production Engineering in PEC a year ago because PEC has increased the number of seats in each branch. Categories Mechanical Engineering at PEC Chandigarh Course Fee 6.39 lakh Placement Percentage 70-80% Highest CTC 15 LPA Average CTC 6.5 LPA Recruiting Companies JP Morgan, Amazon, Tata, HPCL, Fiat, ITC, etc. Mechanical Engineering is one of the most prestigious branches in PEC with the most distinctive Alumni and Faculty. Read more

Ques. Which one's better, CSE at NIT Jalandhar or CSE at PEC, Chandigarh?

● Top Answer By Komal Chawla on 30 Apr 21

Ans. PEC Chandigarh is a better option for Computer Science and Engineering, considering the factors of placement, curriculum, and the overall development of the students in the institute.  The table below gives a brief level of comparison among the two institutes. Particulars PEC Chandigarh NIT Jalandhar NIRF ’20 Ranking 68 52 Total Fees (B.Tech) Rs. 4.6 Lakhs Rs. 6.8 Lakhs Average Salary Offered (CSE) Rs. 12-13 LPA Rs. 5-6 LPA Total Number of Seats (CSE) 111 158 Cut-off (CSE) JEE Main - 8339 DASA UG - 538 JEE MAIN - 6694 DASA UG - 809 Key Highlights: The curriculum followed by PEC Chandigarh is very much similar to that of IITs. It is updated as per the requirements of the industry. This is a great advantage over the other as NIT Jalandhar follows the same syllabus followed by other NITs across India. PEC Chandigarh provides proper facilities in the institute for the overall development of the student during the course.  Through the engagement of technical societies in PEC, students in CSE get exposure to an in-depth study of subjects relevant to Computer Science and Engineering. Considering all the above factors, it can be concluded that PEC Chandigarh is, without doubt, a better choice for a B.Tech degree in Computer Science and Engineering.Read more

Ques. Which college should I take for mechanical engineering? I am confused among PEC Chandigarh, NIT Kurukshetra, and NIT Jalandhar.

● Top Answer By Jyotshna Ranjan on 30 Apr 21

Ans. All the mentioned colleges have an excellent brand name in north India. Even the opportunities that these colleges provide are similar. Winning Institute - NIT Kurukshetra: NIT Kurukshetra has a slight edge over the other two institutes. The below-mentioned points will justify the reason for choosing it. The placements of NIT Kurukshetra are lofty. No. of Eligible Students 640 No. of Students Placed 423 Average Package (CTC) INR 10.91 LPA Median Package (CTC) INR 8 LPA Highest Package (CTC) INR 43.31 LPA The ECE, CSE, and IT branch students recorded the highest placement. The top recruiter is Amazon, Goldman Sachs, EXL, Microsoft, Havells, Coca-Cola, IOCL, Futures Fest, Ford, Paytm, Pepsi, Honda, BPCL, Flipkart, Airtel, Hero, Mahindra, etc. The Mechanical department of NITK has some of the best professors in the whole college. The students are competitive. Most of the students crack competitive exams like ESE, GATE, CAT, and others through self-preparation. These are a few perks for choosing NIT Kurukshetra. Although even if you join the other two institutes, it will be a decent choice.Read more

Ques. Which is better in terms of placements: CSE NIT Jamshedpur or CSE NIT Jalandhar?

● Top Answer By Keshav Jindal on 29 Apr 21

Ans. Of all the good things about NIT Jamshedpur, its placements are one of the major attractions. It is a proven track record and the students here are absolutely assured of successful placements at the completion of their course duration. The following table shows the placement statistics of both institutes for CSE: Particulars NIT Jamshedpur NIT Jalandhar Highest Salary 30 LPA 43.30 LPA Average Salary 18 LPA 8.57 LPA CSE Placement Percentage 95% 91.09% The fact that you are getting admission to one of the NITs is in itself a great feat to have achieved. Hence, you must not worry too much about the branch or campus if it is an NIT. The rest of the things will be smooth. For CSE, big companies such as Samsung (SRI), Oracle, HP, Amazon, etc. are known to visit the Jamshedpur campus each year to conduct the recruitments. There is certainly an assurance that posts your completion of the course at NIT Jamshedpur, you will have a good and respectful job in your hands. ….Read more

Remarks :

1st of all it is NIT. National Institute Of Technology an institute of National Importance. I got the Electronics and Communication branch here and placements are really good here in this branch. Admission is done on the basis of JEE MAINS exam rank. As soon as JEE Advanced rank is out counselling starts for both NIT's and IIT's. Counselling is done by JOSAA. Firstly choice filling is done. Then we have to report at the NIT whenever a seat is alloted to us in the process. Electronics branch here has very good placements. Big tech giants like Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe, UHG visit campus for recruitment. Average package is 9 lacs. Infrastructure is very good. But the bad thing is the course curriculum is old and not up to industry requirements. Students learn their own skills required in the industry. The only reason I preferred this college is because of NIT tag and also overall college is good whether it is infrastructure, college life, faculty or placements. So I am happy with my college.

NIT Jalandhar has a culturally diverse student life. NIT Jalandhar offers the most affordable fee structure in the region thus leading to the best return on student investment. The bad Aspect of this college is the placement rate is quite low but overall college is good. NIT Jalandhar takes admission on the basis of CAT/MAT/CMAT score and also takes their own Entrance for admission in the MBA program. Then they release the cutoff list on the basis of that list they take GD/PI for the selection of students. I prefer this college because here faculty member is good and also for business Incubation center.

NITJ is a well-reputed college and ranked 61 in 2020 among the top colleges for engineering. NITJ has a good management system and teaching staff. Also, students get a good placement in the engineering department. The admission process included various entrance exams from CAT, CMAT, MAT. Also, it conducts a personal NITJ test through which some students of the vacant seats are allotted confirmed seats. The admission process starts in the month of March. The only reason for preferring this college is a good infrastructure, teaching staff, and placement. I compared different colleges on Collegeduniya.com as well as Nitj.ac.in a personal site. I also proffered quora questions about asking for the college.

I preferred this college because I was sure about my branch i.e IT and I didn't want to pursue other branches as I had no interest In them. This was the best college I was getting at my rank and general category. The admission process was pretty simple, we just needed to fill a form and upload our documents. I am currently studying online and haven't explored campus yet but I saw some videos and am very excited about campus life.

Remarks :

The top reason for choosing this college is the infrastructure and best in class facilities. Also I considered several factors like placements, ranking, location etc. The best thing about our college is it's college life. There are more than 10 highly active clubs and various other technical societies. Textile Technology is the oldest branch of our college with a very strong alumni base in the Industry and has 3rd highest placement record. All the faculty have PhD and are highly knowledgeable. The campus is completely ragging free and seniors are very friendly and always ready to help.

"Detailed NIT JALANDHAR"

The rank factor affects the overall counseling process but apart from that this college secured a good rank of 53 in the NIRF RANKING. Very many facilities are here in the field of library, practical labs and games and all.

"Overall a good college for CSE or ECE branch"

But the bad thing is the course curr

"I am totally satisfied with my college"

NIT Jalandhar has a culturally diverse student life. NIT Jalandhar offers the most affordable fee structure in the region thus leading to the best return on student investment. The bad Aspect of this college is the placement rate is quite low but overall college is good. NIT Jalandhar takes admission on the basis of CAT/MAT/CMAT score and also takes their own Entrance for admission in the MBA program. Then they release the cutoff list on the basis of that list they take GD/PI for the selection of students. I prefer this college because here faculty member is good and also for business Incubation center.
