Indian Maritime University (IMU) is a central university which was established in the year 2008 under the Ministry of Shipping, Govt. of India. It is the only recognized university in the country imparting quality education in the maritime field.

The university offers various UG, PG and Research programmes every year through the following schools:

IMU CET (Common Entrance Test)
Admissions to all the UG and PG programs at the IMU Campuses and its Affiliated Institutes is done through Common Entrance Test (CET).
The following CETs are conducted online by the university for shortlisting students to various courses:
- Common CET for admission to all the UG programs.
- CET for MBA programs
- CET for M.Tech programs
Candidates who wish to apply can register themselves online by filling the application form and submitting it along with the required fee. Application Fee must be deposited through online payment mode only. Those seeking admission can confirm their eligibility from the official university link.
Indian Maritime University Courses Offered
At the undergraduate level, IMUoffers B.Tech and B.Sc program in multiple specializations to the students who want to pursue their career in the field of marine engineering and science.
In order to get admission to these courses, the candidates should have studied and passed Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics securing 60% at 10+2 level. Eligible candidates are required to appear in the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the university.
At postgraduate level, IMU also provides Master of Technology (M.Tech.) and Master of Science (M.Sc) program. To get admission to these courses, students should be an Engineering graduate in Mechanical/Civil/Aeronautical/Marine/Naval architecture or equivalent with 60% aggregate in marks. The eligible candidates need to appear in Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the university.
IMU also offers MBA and PG Diploma courses to the students who want to pursue their career in the field of management related work in naval. To get admission, students need to appear in Common Entrance Test (CET) which is conducted by the university.
In addition to various UG and PG programs, the university offers also research program viz. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) via its School of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, only at its Visakhapatnam campus. Students who want to study and research in Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering need to appear in the entrance test, followed by essay writing test and personal interview.
