Hi! This is my first post ever so sorry for any inconvenience. I am for sure getting cat 2 cse in vit vellore. (Updated)I got 164 in MET and about 95-ish percent in PME and computer in boards. So I think I could get cse. So what do I choose? I am preparing for bits but I need a Plan B incase I fumble!

Please suggest some of the best colleges other than vit and SRM? How is Galgotias university and THAPAR UNIVERSITY? I want to know the placements of these colleges? Please help me out!!

Not able to decide, I don’t have any interest as such, so don’t know which stream is better for me at this point. I am from North India. So obviously prefer Thapar, but everyone is telling me to choose CS very confused, please help.

Took a drop after Class 12 (2024), no luck with JEE/CUET/VIT/IAT… Now considering Newton/Scaler-type new-gen colleges. Are they even worth it? Please help. So I passed Class 12 in 2024 and took a drop year, but I still couldn’t crack JEE or get anything good in CUET, VIT, or IAT. I’ve been feeling kinda lost and defeated. I don’t have the best board marks either. At this point, it seems like my only option is private college through direct admission — and even those aren’t offering anything special. Today I randomly came across a YouTube video about one of these new-gen colleges like Scaler School of Tech or Newton School. I did look into them last month and I don’t… something feels off? They have insane amounts of advertising, like literally every Quora post, YouTube comment, or review just screams “bot” energy — all like “my son is doing great!” or “my brother loves it!” and it’s just too picture-perfect. I get it, they’re new colleges and marketing is expected, but they’re overdoing it. Feels super inorganic. Still, I also know I don’t really have any solid options left. And I keep wondering… they can’t lie about everything in those videos, right? RIGHT?? Like yeah, the videos are sponsored and over-the-top glossy, but maybe some things are real? Do any of you know someone who joined Scaler or Newton in 2024? Or maybe you’re there yourself? I just want to hear from actual students, not bots or influencers. The registration deadline is July 3rd, and I’m low-key panicking. I’ve already filled UPTAC but I didn’t score well, and I don’t have high hopes there either. Ideally, I want a college in a metropolitan city with better exposure and not one of those ultra-strict private colleges that act like school. I’m also really unsure about the placement scene in these newer colleges. So yeah… if anyone has real input, please share your experience. Are these new-gen colleges worth taking a shot at? Or am I better off looking somewhere else?

Hey Seniore I'm about to join ECE at a tier 2 college (VITV/Manipal Main Campus). I’ve been seeing a lot of stuff around the branch lately stuff like no core jobs, pivoting to IT is impossible, etc. I'm not here to complain or cry, just want to know if that's genuinely the case even if someone puts in the work. is it a good or dead branch Would love to hear from people who've been through it both good and bad. I am a drop year student and want to pursue [B.Tech](http://B.Tech) in Computer Science (Core). I have scored: * 91.4% in Class 10 * 82.6% in Class 12 * 83.33 percentile in JEE Mains * 42,XXX rank in VITEEE * 8,8XX rank in COMEDK I belong to a lower middle-class family with an annual income of less than ?2 lakhs. I really want to study, but I need a scholarship to afford the fees. The problem is that most scholarships require an admission letter first, and I'm not even sure if I'll qualify for the scholarship after admission. I also thought of applying for an education loan, but my parents are worried if I don't get the loan, we won't be able to pay the college fees. Can someone please suggest colleges where I might get a scholarship for [B.Tech](http://B.Tech) CSE? And if there are no such colleges, what should I do in this situation?

Would love to get a solid comparison from seniors on ground reality, college course, difficulty in getting and maintaining a good CGPA, Placements, Brand value, clubs, networking opportunity and so on. (My goal is to pursue an MBA abroad) so pls keep tht in mind while suggesting.

# JEE Mains 2025 – 98.7%ile (~20,000 CRL) | Need Help Shortlisting Colleges Hi everyone, I recently appeared for **JEE Mains 2025** and secured a **percentile of \~98.7**, which gives me a **CRL rank around 20,000** (± a few ranks). I’m trying to figure out the best possible options I have, especially after **JoSAA** and **CSAB** rounds, and would love to hear your thoughts. # Branch Preferences * I don’t have a strict branch preference, but I’d **prefer a 4-year circuital branch** (CSE, ECE, EE, etc.). * **Not keen on non-core branches** like Civil or Mining for various reasons (interest, placements, etc.). * Open to flexible or interdisciplinary options if the college reputation and peer group are strong. Colleges I’ve Shortlisted So Far 1. **IIITs** – Mixed opinions here. Some (like IIIT Gwalior, Jabalpur, etc.) seem promising, but I’m unsure about long-term value vs. NITs. 2. **DTU (EE)** and **NSUT (ECE)** – Hoping for upgradations here through later rounds. 3. **NITs** – I want to avoid most North Eastern ones due to location concerns, but **NIT Silchar** is still under consideration. 4. **BIT Mesra** – Again, mixed reviews. Good brand but varied placement reports. # Not Considering * **VITEEE** – Got around 7,000 rank but not planning to join (too many concerns around transparency, fees, and value). * **Private Tier-2 colleges** unless absolutely necessary. # What I Need Help With * Which **IIITs/NITs are worth it** at this rank?
