University of Calcutta Reviews on Placements, Faculty and Facilities

Due to this pandemic exams are conducted online. The exam is not that tough to pass because the professor in this college is expertise in their area. The way they teach and clear all the doubts are just awesome.

I wanted to pursue my higher education in Geography after 12th and also wanted to acquire a science degree. I have applied here because Ashutosh college is one of the top-ranking A-grade colleges under Calcutta University. The number of seats available is 60 under this course. The faculty is extremely knowledgeable and student friendly and exams are held semester wise now along with internal assessments

There are no campus placements. No companies visit the college and no as such highest and average package as per company and profiles offered are available. My plan after getting a degree is to go for further higher studies i.e. M.Sc. in biotechnology from out of West Bengal. Then after completing my M.Sc. I will further go for Ph.D.

The college often provides placements. They are even tied up with the big 4 companies. The qualifications fulfillment is required to get the placement. But the college will train you with that by providing practical knowledge and developing skills and personality.

I choose this course for a very interesting reason, I want to be a doctor, but I didn't take admission into government medical college for lack of percentage in exams. So, I decided to get admission into the microbiology course. In future, I will become a successful microbiologist. The best thing about our course is after completion of B.Sc, students can choose various fields in M.Sc like forensic science, biotechnology, medical biotechnology, marine biology and agricultural microbiology. Teacher Student ratio is almost 8:1. Teachers are helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. They are upgraded with their studies day by day with modern technology. All teachers are PhD qualified from famous universities. There are 5 permanent teachers, 2 part-time professors, 3 guest lecturers and 2 lab assistants. Semester exams in this college are moderately tough. The pass percentage in the theory is 30%, and in the practical, it is 50%.

Gokhale is very famous for Economics, mainly because of the faculty. The student-teacher ratio is very efficient. The faculty is very well qualified and do an excellent job is helping students, not only academically but also outside of it. The exams were conducted by Calcutta university every 6 months. Colleges conducted the internal and tutorial exams. The difficulty level is no that high provided you follow your lectures sincerely.

Around 95% of the students get placements after completing the final semester from our college. The average salary package offered was 4.5 LPA. TCS, Infosys and Wipro are the top recruiting companies in our college. Most of the students are not interested in placements. They want to opt for higher studies i.e. MSc and PhD.

The college has a placement cell to make students well versed in the placement process. However most of the students prefer to go for higher education rather than for a job which is why the placement rate is not very high. Also keeping in mind the current job market , it is not very wise to expect a high pay job after merely having an undergraduation degree. Like most of the students ,I have also planned to go for professional courses after my graduation.However its placement cells provides many opportunities for internships and jobs

Placements are provided by the college after the completion of the 5th year (10th) . Around 90% of the students receive placements in their desired companies. The students get salary packages as similar as the ones for government employees. The packages can vary from around 20,000 to 1 lakh per month as per the job opted for.

I chose this course because I love mathematics and I want to get an honours degree in mathematics. In this college, the faculties are very good. Maximum faculties are PhD holders. Student teacher ratio was 21:4. The teaching method was excellent and very practical. There was 2 semester per year and the exams were quite difficult.
