Florida International University Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
Florida International University uses graduate-programme-specific thresholds, but core Indian benchmarks stay stable across departments.
Postgraduate Requirements at Florida International University
- Academic: Four-year bachelor’s degree with minimum 60% or CGPA 6.0/10 (recommended for STEM MS); business and MBA programmes accept 55% (recommended)
- English test: TOEFL iBT minimum 80 (0-120 legacy scale) or IELTS minimum 6.5; PTE minimum 58; Duolingo minimum 110
- Credential verification: WES course-by-course evaluation is required for all Indian degrees
- Standardised tests: GRE recommended for MS Computer Science and MS Engineering; GMAT or GRE required for International MBA
Undergraduate Requirements at Florida International University
- Academic: Class 12 completed with minimum 70% aggregate (recommended); STEM majors expect higher marks in PCM subjects
- English test: TOEFL iBT minimum 61, IELTS minimum 6.0, or Duolingo minimum 95
- SAT or ACT: Test-optional for most majors as of the last published policy; verify at official page
Note: The IELTS waiver applies only if the entire bachelor’s degree was taught and examined in English at an accredited Indian institution, and a formal letter from the university registrar is required as proof.
Florida International University Acceptance Rate 2027
The overall Florida International University acceptance rate is approximately 64% (estimated), placing it in the moderately selective category among US public research universities. This estimate is drawn from published US-government enrolment data and third-party admissions databases and is directionally reliable.
| Year | Acceptance Rate | Trend |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | 64% (estimated) | Stable |
| 2024 | 65% (estimated) | Stable |
| 2023 | 64% (estimated) | Stable |
Graduate programmes such as MS Computer Science and the International MBA are more selective than the university-wide rate. Indian applicants with 60% or higher and a competitive TOEFL or IELTS score have a reasonable chance for direct admission.
Reality check: A moderate acceptance rate does not mean easy entry for tuition waivers or graduate assistantships, which stay highly competitive and typically cover under 15% of the cohort.
Florida International University Fees and Cost of Living for Indian Students 2027
The total annual cost of studying at Florida International University for Indian graduate students ranges from USD 39,000 to USD 60,000 (INR 33.0 lakh to 50.7 lakh), covering tuition and living expenses in Miami.

Florida International University Placements and Career Outcomes 2027
Florida International University reports strong employment outcomes for graduates, supported by its Miami location as a Latin American and Caribbean business hub.
- Employment rate: Career support programme; placement rate not centrally disclosed for international cohort
- Median MS starting salary: USD 65,000 to USD 85,000 (INR 54.9 lakh to 71.8 lakh, market median for US STEM MS graduates)
- Top recruiter sectors: Technology, banking and finance, healthcare, hospitality, aviation, and consulting; representative employers include major cruise lines, regional healthcare systems, and financial services firms
- Post-study work: F-1 Optional Practical Training gives 12 months of work eligibility; STEM masters graduates get a further 24-month extension
- Careers support: Career and Talent Development Center runs coaching, employer meet-ups, and industry mentor circles for international students
Note: Indian STEM masters graduates typically secure H-1B sponsorship through mid-sized technology consultancies in the first OPT year, rather than through large corporate campus hires.
Florida International University stands out among peers at its QS band for its Miami location, R1 research classification, and #1 US social mobility rank. Its hospitality and international trade programmes carry the strongest global signal.
Florida International University fits Indian applicants who want an affordable US public research degree in a diverse city, with a total investment of INR 33 lakh to 50 lakh against a median MS starting salary in the INR 54 lakh to 71 lakh band. The STEM tag on core masters, the 36-month OPT window, and Miami’s Latin American corridor make it a workable route for finance, hospitality, and technology careers.
It is less suitable for applicants aiming at top-15 US brand names or heavy fellowship funding, since assistantships are limited and QS placement is mid-band. A realistic alternative is Arizona State University for those wanting a similar public-research profile with wider programme choice.

- I love the tall and the decorated buildings.
- I'm very proud to be a student of the international university of Florida, mostly because of the people there who made it special to me.
Dislikes
- I can’t think of anything much except a few experiences with racism but it was later resolved amicably, also they make sure everyone receives equal treatment even the lgbt community although it wasn’t always like that at first
Overview
My parents have also studied here and I feel like I have a connection to this place. Also, I would love to access the great opportunities and experiences from such a prestigious school. I've heard a lot about their standards and ethics and it really pulled my attention. It’s really going to be a memorable one I met a lot of interesting people from different culture and ethnicity, different race and also different people with different identity such as LGBT and I got to understand things from their perspective also, and I feel challenged everyday to learn more because it’s a competitive school with a lot of smart kids.
Campus Life
It’s all fun and the experience is amazing, i got to meet wonderful people from different races and interact with them, also we have days for fun and exciting games.
Overview
I have to submit LOR from my high school teachers which should include why I am a good fit for college. Miami was the best location for living and the reputation of the college was good. My overall experience of college is very good and i think it is one of the best and most affordable university in USA.
Campus Life
The campus is very big and full of different technologies. It has all the facilities for students like wifi, computers, food chains, vending machines, shuttle service, etc.
Campus Life
When I went there, the campus was kind of short. So, that's the main reason why I came back in two months. Because of Covid, nothing had really opened up. Apart from that, we always had access to the library and computer labs.
Fees

Overview
Good biology program that is in my home city so I can live at home and commute to campus to save money. My parents also both graduated from here as well as other family members that spoke very highly of the university
Fees
The fees structure is reasonable. There are several payment plans available. The university gives a fair amount of time to pay
Overview
Local and close to my house, I didn't want to go out of state so I chose to go to this university because I knew I would be homesick especially going to school for 4 years would have destroyed me so I decided to just go to school locally.
Fees
What I could recall was that I paid an application fee once, then after that every semester I paid classes and books that's all. But of course, it was a lot cheaper than a lot of people the lived there. I remember they would tell me they had to pay for room on board and food plus books and classes.
