| Spring 2027 master’s final close | 1 December 2026 | Priority deadline was 1 October 2026; still open for standard review |

University of Texas at Dallas Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
UT Dallas expects Indian applicants to demonstrate a strong academic base and verified English proficiency, with a preference for a four-year bachelor’s degree at the PG level.
- Bachelor’s academic eligibility: Overall CGPA 6.0/10 or 60% or higher (recommended, mapped to the 3.0/4.0 UT Dallas benchmark); three-year Indian bachelors reviewed holistically per the official international student guide
- English proficiency: IELTS Academic 6.5, TOEFL iBT 80 (for tests before 26 January 2026) or TOEFL iBT 4 on the new 1-6 band (for tests after 26 January 2026), PTE Academic 67, or Duolingo English Test 105; test scores must be less than two years old
- Credential verification: UT Dallas conducts its own foreign credential evaluation; external WES or IERF reports are not required or accepted
- Standardised tests: GRE is optional for most MS programmes; GMAT or GRE required for MS Finance and MBA
Key insight: Indian applicants whose bachelor’s degree was earned through English-medium instruction and examination can request an IELTS or TOEFL waiver, but this must be documented via an official letter from the awarding institution before the application deadline.
University of Texas at Dallas Acceptance Rate 2027
The University of Texas at Dallas acceptance rate is 79% (estimated), derived from Common Data Set filings by the university across recent enrollment cycles. This is a broad institutional rate; competitive PG programmes such as MS Business Analytics, MS Finance and the Full-Time MBA admit closer to a 40% to 55% band based on academic profile and test scores.
| Year | Acceptance Rate | Trend |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 | 79% (estimated) | Stable |
| 2025 | 85% (estimated) | Slight tightening |
| 2024 | 85% (estimated) | Baseline |
Indian applicants with a 65%+ bachelor’s average, an IELTS 6.5 and a targeted statement of purpose sit safely inside the admit band for the Jonsson and Jindal schools. STEM PhD tracks with assistantships are considerably more selective than the headline institutional figure.
Reality check: The high headline rate at the University of Texas at Dallas does not extend to funded PhD offers or MS Finance seats, so Indian applicants should not treat the 79% figure as a guaranteed admit for the flagship Jindal programmes.

University of Texas at Dallas Campus, Facilities and Student Life
The University of Texas at Dallas sits on a 645-acre campus in Richardson, a north-Dallas suburb inside the Telecom Corridor tech cluster, twenty minutes from downtown Dallas and thirty minutes from DFW airport.
- Location and transport: Free campus shuttle connects to the DART Red Line at the Arapaho Center Station, giving direct rail into downtown Dallas
- Housing: On-campus rooms cost roughly $850 to $1,200 per month; UT Dallas does not guarantee international housing so most Indian PGs live in University Village or private apartments off Waterview Parkway
- Facilities: The Naveen Jindal Trading Lab, a dedicated ATEC media arts complex and the Cecil H. Green Hall computer-science building anchor programme-specific facilities
- Indian student community: Active Indian Students Association, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalee cultural groups, on-campus Diwali and Holi events, and Indian grocery stores at Mahatma Gandhi Plaza three miles from campus
What Indian students say: New Indian arrivals typically cite the affordability of Richardson housing versus coastal campuses, and the walkable proximity of Indian grocery and food options at Mahatma Gandhi Plaza, as the two features that make the first semester easier than expected.

Key insight: UT Dallas comfortably clears the US News Best Global top 501 threshold that Indian public-sector employers and PSU banks typically use to sanction education loans without additional scrutiny, and it satisfies the top-500 preferred-institution list used by several private lenders.
University of Texas at Dallas Placements and Career Outcomes 2027
Placement outcomes at UT Dallas are strongest for graduates of the Jindal School and Jonsson School masters programmes, with the Dallas-Fort Worth corridor absorbing most Indian graduates through OPT and H-1B pathways.
- MS Computer Science median starting salary: $88,100 (₹84.1 lakh) based on the university’s cited career reporting
- MS Information Technology and Management average salary: $100,010 (₹95.5 lakh) as reported by the Jindal School
- Full-Time MBA Class of 2024-25 average starting salary and signing bonus: $140,000+ (₹133.6 lakh+)
- Top recruiters: Deloitte, Bank of America, KPMG, Tesla, Amazon and Toyota lead the full-time MBA and MS hiring lists
- Post-study work: STEM-designated MS programmes give Indian graduates 36 months of OPT, and the DFW tech cluster supplies dense H-1B sponsorship for computer-science and analytics roles
Insider note: Indian MS graduates from Jonsson and Jindal typically report faster on-campus recruiting cycles than at similarly ranked Sun Belt campuses, driven by the density of Dallas-Fort Worth Fortune-500 headquarters and the aggressive alumni network at Texas Instruments, AT&T and Capital One.
University of Texas at Dallas vs Peer Universities
Indian applicants typically compare UT Dallas to other Sun Belt STEM-heavy public research universities on QS rank, tuition load and outcomes.
| University | QS Rank 2027 | Collegedunia Study Abroad | Avg Annual PG Tuition | Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| University of Texas at Dallas | #686 | #424 | $36,532 (₹34.9 lakh) | Jindal analytics and Dallas tech hub proximity |
| Arizona State University | #179 | NA | $34,000+ (₹32.4 lakh+) | Broader online and hybrid pathways |
| University at Buffalo (SUNY) | #460 | NA | $28,000+ (₹26.7 lakh+) | Lower tuition, established Indian community |
| University of Texas at Arlington | #801-850 | NA | $27,000+ (₹25.8 lakh+) | Cheaper Texas-metro STEM alternative |
| Texas A&M University | #89 | NA | $30,000+ (₹28.6 lakh+) | Higher research prestige, less urban campus |
UT Dallas stands out on the combination of a US News Global top 501 rank, sub-₹35 lakh graduate tuition and direct placement pipelines into Dallas-Fort Worth analytics, finance and engineering roles. Indian applicants who prioritise brand-name QS rank over city choice may prefer Texas A&M or ASU, but on tuition-per-outcome the Jindal and Jonsson tracks remain competitive.
The University of Texas at Dallas is the right fit for Indian STEM and business masters applicants seeking a well-priced STEM-designated degree with a total 2-year investment of $130,000 to $155,000 (₹124.1 lakh to ₹148.0 lakh) against a Jindal MS median above $100,000, giving one of the cleaner tuition-to-salary ratios in the US News Best Global top 501. The 36-month OPT window on STEM programmes and the density of Dallas-Fort Worth Fortune-500 recruiters make study in USA a straightforward calculation for applicants targeting analytics, finance or software engineering roles.
UT Dallas is not the strongest fit for applicants prioritising QS top-200 brand prestige, funded humanities research, or a compact residential undergraduate experience; those applicants may find a stronger match at Arizona State University or Texas A&M, both of which offer higher headline research reputations at a similar total cost of attendance.
University of Texas at Dallas FAQs
Ques. What is the application fee at University of Texas at Dallas for Indian applicants?
Ans. The application fee at UT Dallas is $75 (₹7,159 at the August 2026 exchange rate), submitted online through the Applicant Portal at the time of application. The fee is non-refundable and applies equally to Indian and other international applicants across masters and doctoral cycles. Fee waivers exist for a narrow set of programmes such as US military service members and select fellowship recipients, but Indian applicants generally do not qualify for those waivers.
Ques. Can Indian students work part-time on an F-1 visa at UT Dallas?
Ans. Yes, F-1 international students at UT Dallas can work up to 20 hours per week on campus during the fall and spring semesters and full-time during official breaks. Off-campus work needs Curricular Practical Training authorisation after the first academic year, typically for a paid internship tied to the degree. Popular on-campus roles include library assistant, dining services and research or teaching assistant positions in the Jindal and Jonsson schools.
Ques. Does UT Dallas waive GRE for Indian MS applicants?
Ans. UT Dallas has made GRE optional for most Jonsson School MS programmes including Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Data Science, but strong scores still strengthen scholarship review. GMAT or GRE remains required for the Full-Time MBA, MS Finance and MS Business Analytics in the Jindal School. Indian applicants who feel their bachelor’s transcript is average should still submit a competitive GRE score to strengthen the file.
Ques. How does credential verification work for Indian bachelor’s degrees at UT Dallas?
Ans. The University of Texas at Dallas conducts its own foreign credential evaluation internally, so Indian applicants do not need to pay for external WES, IERF or ECE reports. Applicants upload scanned mark sheets and provisional or degree certificates during the application, and submit officially attested hard copies after admission. Three-year Indian bachelor degrees are reviewed holistically for master’s admission rather than automatically rejected.
Ques. Are education loans easy to arrange for UT Dallas from Indian banks?
Ans. Yes, UT Dallas sits inside the US News Best Global top 501 and the ranked-institution lists used by SBI, Bank of Baroda, HDFC Credila, Avanse and Auxilo, so unsecured education loans up to ₹75 lakh are commonly sanctioned for admitted students. Loans above ₹75 lakh usually require collateral or a co-applicant with strong income proof. Applicants should submit the I-20 and the university cost-of-attendance letter to accelerate loan processing.
Ques. What documents does UT Dallas need for F-1 visa financial proof?
Ans. UT Dallas requires proof of funds covering the full first-year cost of attendance, typically $58,500 to $62,000 (₹55.9 lakh to ₹59.2 lakh) for graduate applicants. Accepted proof includes bank statements not older than six months, education loan sanction letters, scholarship or assistantship letters, and a signed sponsor affidavit. The financial documents are uploaded to the international student portal and drive the I-20 issuance.
Ques. Which secondary intake at UT Dallas suits Indian applicants best?
Ans. Spring intake at UT Dallas is the strongest secondary window for Indian applicants who miss Fall priority, with applications closing on 1 December 2026 for Spring 2027 entry. Summer entry is limited to a small set of doctoral tracks and is not recommended as a primary route. Applicants who choose Spring should still book IELTS or TOEFL slots by mid-2026 and start credential preparation well ahead of the December close.
Ques. How long is the OPT for UT Dallas STEM masters graduates?
Ans. Indian graduates of STEM-designated MS programmes at UT Dallas, including MS Computer Science, MS Data Science and MS Business Analytics, are eligible for 36 months of Optional Practical Training. This comprises the standard 12-month OPT plus a 24-month STEM extension. The extended OPT window gives Indian graduates roughly three H-1B lottery attempts, which is the primary reason MS Computer Science and MS Business Analytics remain the top Indian-choice tracks at the university.

- Diverse Student Community: University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) has large international population, especially at Master's 'level. This makes transition to new country easier for new students and to feel at home.
- Career Services: UTD has a top notch career center which helps everyone in job search and resources needed for it. UTD's job fairs and alumni network are strong and active in helping students secure their prospective career goals. I got lot of help from career center.
- Scholarship and Assistantship Opportunities: There are merit scholarships, research assistantships, teaching assistantships which can ease burden on tuition cost.
Dislikes
- Food and Dining: Somedays the food in dining hall is not that good. But not terrible. It is decent enough. I would like to see it improve a bit.
- Weak Sports Culture: I felt the sports culture needs to improve and create more events and be accessible to many. Minimal sports culture leads to fewer ways to bond.
- Quality of Professors and Course Materials: While most are good, I felt some are outdated and disengaged. I see this as a field for improvement to compete with world class institutions.

Campus Life
- The campus life at UTD was great, with a lot of events, festivals, clubs, and activities to select from. There were a lot of cultural festivals and events on campus throughout the year, which were a fantastic way to learn about different cultures and traditions. The university also had a lot of clubs and organizations, from academic and professional clubs to recreational and sports clubs.
- I was part of the UTD Computer Science Club. It was a great way to get to know other students who shared the same interests as me. The club hosted numerous activities and events, including hackathons, coding competitions, and tech talks. We also had a lot of fun at game nights, movie nights, and other social events.

- Fees is charged on a semester-wise basis (you can pay via credit card, wire transfer or EZ Pay).

Likes
- What I like about UTD is the strong sense of community, with diverse student organizations like ACM and MSA, and the excellent facilities, including a modern library and sports center.
- The university's strong industry connections with companies like Amazon and Verizon offer valuable career opportunities, and the supportive faculty are approachable and help students with both academics and internships.
Dislikes
- However, parking can be a challenge due to limited spaces, and some classes are quite large, which can make personalized interaction with professors more difficult.
Overview
I chose UTD because of its excellent academic reputation, especially in Computer Science, and also due to the good career opportunities that comes with it as a result of partnerships with leading companies such as Amazon and Verizon. For my career aspirations, it was essential that I am located in USA which is known as hub of technology and innovations. Equally important to my decision was the fact that family members live around and they can provide both personal help as well as academic assistance. The experience has been all encompassing - academics apart; I have taken part in such activities like ACM and playing for their cricket team. A lively student life is what the campus offers; one striking thing about it is that there exists a balance between academic pursuits and social activities.
Campus Life
Campus life is good. I am part of a few organizations such as ACM and MSA. I also play cricket for the university team, which has been an incredible way to build teamwork and leadership skills. Balancing academics with sports and extracurriculars enhances my overall college experience, helping me grow both professionally and personally while making lifelong connections.
Likes
- I like the flexibility that UTD offers with their courses and professors. The amount of courses UTD has to offer for programs like Information Technology Management and Business Analysis are really good and are pretty relevant as well. They cover a wide spectrum of domains which allows you to choose which domain you want to enter.
Dislikes
- Now, what I dislike is having a wide range of course collections also puts you in a bit of confusion since you begin to think that every domain might be good for you.
Overview
I chose UTD because the Naveen Jindal School of Management is one of the finest in the country and the courses offered at UTD are really relevant and flexible and that is something that aligned with what I wanted to do. I also chose UTD because of the state of Texas, since there are a lot of Indians as well and cities like Austin and Dallas have plenty of opportunities almost equivalent to the west coast.
Campus Life
Other than academics, I believe there is a lot going on in terms of student led clubs, sports, events, activities etc. You just have to look out for all these events and decide which one you want to go to since there are events going on probably everyday. The student organization network is huge here and there are lot of opportunities that revolve around them as well. These organizations hold multiple events and talk shows with industry leaders. One of the clubs that I would like to recommend is Envision. It is a data visualization student organization at the Naveen Jindal School of Management and its aim is to help students with data and how to sell that data. For freshers who are enthusiastic about joining any student organization, Envision should definitely be one of the top choices. I myself benefitted from this as they held bootcamps and hackathons and I was able to understand and apply these skills in projects. Therefore I highly recommend joining this student organization.
Likes
- Academics, social network, career opportunities.
- My professors were amazing and the facilities were great.
- Many influential people are in the universities, and the networking potential is huge.
Dislikes
- It is a commuter college. Not many students live on campus. You have to go out of your way to network, but when you do, you will get a ton of opportunities.
- The Texas weather - depends on whether you like heat or not! The summers are very hot, but the spring, fall and winter are pleasant.
Overview
I chose this college because it had a good Biotechnology program, good pricing, and this degree is competitive in the job market. Overall, It was a great, enlightening experience where I learned to be independent, make friends, connect with professors and companies, and also where I worked hard and accomplished a lot. Now I have great job offers with good pay and a firm start to my professional life.
Campus Life
There are hundreds of clubs and events, fast WiFi, and an activity center and library free to use for students. I worked in several labs with neat, well-maintained, and new equipment and I got a part-time job as well.
Overview
I chose this university as it had good ranking for masters in business analytics; most people from the batch got job on time. Overall experience has been pretty positive although the fees is higher if you don’t get a scholarship. So try to score well in GRE and get a scholarship to make it worth.
Campus Life
College life was fun. Lots of Indian students around so it never felt like I came to the USA for master’s, it felt more like Amity university.
Overview
I submitted 1 SOP, resume 3 LORs for my application. I wrote about my interest in the MSBA program and I linked it to how my professional experience of 1.5 years is relevant to this degree. I also mentioned relevant projects and extracurricular experience. LORs were given by my professors. My resume consisted information about my experience, educations, skills and projects. I was interested in UTD because of the ability to choose courses from various schools. Also, the location of the college is great and gives a homely feeling. I heard good reviews of this particular program and decided to go with it. I chose this program because I had experience with data in my workplace. I liked my work and wanted to explore it. It is a good university with great professors and academic programs. The infrastructure and extracurricular activities are good too. But I would say that it is very expensive without scholarship.
Campus Life
I feel that the campus life is really good. I am an active person so I get involved in different on-campus activities. I especially make use of the pool tables almost daily. The campus infrastructure is nice and clean and we would want to explore more of it. There is always some activity or the other going on with free food. It is a great thing for international students especially.
Overview
No, there was no interview and or any test. Because, the tuition fee is quite less than other university. Computer Science department has some amazing professors with amazing papers they have worked on and have been working on a lot of recent technologies.
Campus Life
Campus life is quite diverse. Many country based clubs are available as well as clubs related to proper field in tech are also available. E.g. Data Science club, ACM, AIS Artificial Intelligence Society, SWE society of women engineers etc.
