What Is 2nd/Special OJEE 2026

The 2nd/Special OJEE is a supplementary entrance test conducted by OJEEB for students who could not appear in the main OJEE 2026 session (May 2026) and do not yet hold any qualifying rank for Odisha admissions. The results of the 2nd/Special OJEE are used specifically for admission to seats left vacant after the first phase of main OJEE counselling, as per the official OJEE 2026 notification.

Students who already hold a JEE Main 2026 rank (for B.Tech first-year private college seats) or a main OJEE 2026 rank (for all other courses) are not required to appear in the 2nd/Special OJEE. They may use their existing rank to register directly in the special counselling window opening July 23, 2026.

Marking Scheme and Rank Calculation

Each correct answer in the 2nd/Special OJEE 2026 earns +4 marks while each wrong answer deducts 1 mark; unattempted questions carry zero marks. The exam is conducted in CBT mode and follows the same paper pattern and syllabus as the main OJEE 2026 for each respective course. For B.Tech first-year seats, the syllabus is aligned with JEE Main 2026.

After the exam, the total score for each course paper is calculated and students are ranked in descending order of total marks. The student with the highest total score in a course gets the best (lowest-number) rank within the 2nd/Special OJEE merit list for that course. In case two students score identical marks, the older student receives the better rank — this is the standard tie-breaking rule applied across all OJEE merit lists.

The 11-Lakh Rank Series Explained

2nd/Special OJEE 2026 ranks do not continue from where main OJEE ranks ended. They begin from a dedicated 11-lakh block, starting at rank 1100001. This design keeps main OJEE and 2nd/Special OJEE merit lists clearly separate and prevents any mix-up during seat allotment processing.

For example, if a student’s rank card shows 1100478, it means they appeared in the 2nd/Special OJEE and stood 478th among all students who qualified in that exam for their chosen course. This rank card is downloaded from ojee.nic.in after result declaration and serves as the primary eligibility document for Round 3 counselling registration.

The rank is course-specific — a student who applied for both LE-TECH and MCA will receive two separate ranks within the same 11-lakh series, one for each course.

Which Counselling Rounds Use 2nd/Special OJEE Ranks

2nd/Special OJEE 2026 ranks are valid only from Round 3 of OJEE counselling onwards. Rounds 1 and 2 accept only main OJEE 2026 ranks and, for B.Tech seats, JEE Main 2026 ranks. Students holding a 2nd/Special OJEE rank cannot participate in Rounds 1 or 2.

Round 3 covers seats remaining vacant after Round 2 seat acceptances and any subsequent candidate withdrawals. These seats are primarily in private and self-financing institutions across Odisha. JEE Main 2026 rank holders who did not register in the earlier rounds are also permitted to register in this same special window for B.Tech seats.

Round 3 Counselling Registration Steps

Once the 2nd/Special OJEE 2026 result is declared, follow these steps on the OJEE portal to complete Round 3 registration:

1. Visit ojee.nic.in and open the counselling registration link for 2nd/Special OJEE students.
2. Log in using your 2nd/Special OJEE application number and date of birth; create a password for the counselling portal.
3. Upload scanned copies of all required documents (listed below) and pay the non-refundable counselling registration fee online.
4. Fill in your preferred colleges and courses in order of priority; review and lock your choices before the July 27, 2026 deadline.
5. Check the Round 3 seat allotment result on July 30, 2026 by logging back into the portal with your credentials.
6. If a seat is allotted, accept it online and pay the seat acceptance fee by August 3, 2026.
7. Report physically to the allotted college with all original documents from August 3, 2026 onwards to complete admission formalities.
