AP PGECET 2027 (Andhra Pradesh Post Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test) is a state-level entrance exam conducted by APSCHE for admission to M.Tech, M.Pharm, and Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate) programmes in Andhra Pradesh colleges and universities. Before you fill the application form, you must confirm you meet the eligibility conditions for your specific programme. The main requirements are a relevant bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks, Andhra Pradesh domicile, and Indian nationality. There is no age limit for any programme. If you hold a valid GATE or GPAT score, you can skip the entrance test and apply directly through counselling.
Note: The AP PGECET 2027 notification has not been released as of October 2026. All figures and conditions on this page are based on the official APPGECET 2026 instruction booklet published by APSCHE. The 2027 eligibility is expected to follow the same rules unless APSCHE announces a change.

AP PGECET 2027 Eligibility for M.Pharm
To apply for M.Pharm through AP PGECET 2027, you must have a B.Pharm (4-year programme) degree from a university recognised by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). You need at least 50% aggregate marks in B.Pharm. SC, ST, and PH candidates need a minimum of 45%.
If you have a valid GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) score, you do not need to appear for AP PGECET. You can directly register for AP PGECET counselling using your GPAT score. GPAT score holders are given preference over AP PGECET rank holders in seat allotment. Seats are first filled by GPAT merit, and the remaining seats go to AP PGECET rank holders.
AP PGECET 2027 Eligibility for Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate)
For Pharm.D (PB) admission through AP PGECET 2027, you need a B.Pharm degree (4-year programme) from a PCI-recognised institution. The minimum marks requirement is 50% aggregate for General category and 45% for SC, ST, and PH candidates. GPAT score holders are also eligible for direct counselling for Pharm.D (PB) seats, similar to M.Pharm.
AP PGECET 2027 and MCA: What You Need to Know
AP PGECET covers only engineering and pharmacy postgraduate programmes (M.Tech, M.Pharm, Pharm.D PB). MCA admissions in Andhra Pradesh are not part of AP PGECET. If you want to apply for MCA in Andhra Pradesh colleges, you need to appear for AP ICET (Andhra Pradesh Integrated Common Entrance Test), which is a separate entrance exam also conducted by APSCHE. Check the official AP ICET notification for MCA eligibility details.
Minimum Marks for AP PGECET 2027
The minimum marks required in your qualifying degree depend on your category. This is the percentage in the qualifying degree (B.Tech, B.E., or B.Pharm), calculated as the aggregate across all years or semesters.
| Category | Minimum Aggregate in Qualifying Degree |
|---|---|
| General (Unreserved) | 50% |
| OBC (BC-A, BC-B, BC-C, BC-D, BC-E) | 50% |
| EWS (Economically Weaker Section) | 50% |
| SC (Scheduled Caste) | 45% |
| ST (Scheduled Tribe) | 45% |
| PH (Persons with Disability) | 45% |
If your university follows a grading system (CGPA or GPA), convert it to percentage using the conversion formula published by your university. If your university has no conversion formula, APSCHE uses the standard conversion of multiplying CGPA by 10. For example, a CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale is treated as 60%.
Qualifying Marks in the AP PGECET Exam
In addition to the degree percentage, you must also score a minimum in the AP PGECET exam itself to receive a rank. The qualifying mark in the AP PGECET test is 25% of the total marks, which is 30 out of 120 marks. SC and ST candidates have no minimum qualifying mark in the entrance test; they receive a rank even if they score below 30.
| Category | Minimum Marks in AP PGECET Exam (out of 120) |
|---|---|
| General / OBC / EWS | 30 marks (25%) |
| SC / ST | No minimum; rank awarded for any score |
Age Limit for AP PGECET 2027
AP PGECET 2027 does not set a minimum or maximum age limit for any programme. You can apply for M.Tech, M.Pharm, or Pharm.D (PB) regardless of your age, as long as you have the required qualifying degree and minimum marks. There is no upper age cap for General, OBC, SC, ST, or any other category candidate.
Note that the AP government’s fee reimbursement scheme for postgraduate students may have a separate age cap (typically 34 years or 39 years depending on category) under the AP Social Welfare rules. This is not an eligibility condition for AP PGECET; it affects only fee reimbursement benefits.
GATE Exemption Rule for AP PGECET 2027
If you have a valid GATE score, you do not need to appear for AP PGECET 2027. You can register directly for AP PGECET 2027 counselling using your GATE score. GATE score holders are given priority over AP PGECET rank holders: seats are first filled by GATE merit order, and remaining seats go to AP PGECET rank holders.
GATE score validity is three years from the year the exam is held. So for 2027 admissions, a GATE score from 2025 or 2026 is valid. A GATE 2024 score would have expired before 2027 admissions begin.
| Condition | Rule |
|---|---|
| Need to appear for AP PGECET | No; GATE score holders apply directly for counselling |
| GATE score validity for 2027 admissions | GATE 2025 or GATE 2026 (3-year validity from exam year) |
| Seat allotment preference | GATE merit first, then AP PGECET rank holders for remaining seats |
| GPAT exemption for M.Pharm | Valid GPAT score holders also apply directly for counselling (same rule) |
Domicile and Residency Requirements for AP PGECET 2027
You must be an Andhra Pradesh domicile to apply under the state quota seats in AP PGECET 2027. The local/non-local classification follows the Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions) Order, 1974.
- Local candidate: If you studied for the required number of years in institutions located in Andhra Pradesh (or in the specific local area defined by the order), you qualify as a local candidate for that region. Local candidates get priority in local-area seats.
- Non-local candidate: If you do not qualify as a local candidate for any region, you are a non-local candidate and are eligible for the non-local reserved seats.
- Seat split: Approximately 85% of seats in each college are reserved for local candidates. The remaining 15% are for non-local candidates.
You will need a domicile certificate in the prescribed format (Proforma A1, A2, or B as applicable) at the time of counselling and document verification. Check the official AP PGECET 2027 counselling notification for the exact format required.
Nationality Requirement
Only Indian nationals can apply for AP PGECET 2027 under the state quota. NRI and foreign national candidates seeking admission under the NRI quota must apply directly to individual colleges. The NRI quota process is separate from AP PGECET admission and does not go through the AP PGECET counselling process.
Appearing Candidates in AP PGECET 2027
If you are in the final year of your qualifying degree (B.Tech, B.E., or B.Pharm) when you apply for AP PGECET 2027, you can still fill the application form and appear for the entrance test. You are called an appearing candidate. However, you must complete your degree and clear all subjects before the counselling begins. If you do not produce a degree passing certificate or provisional mark sheet by the deadline set in the counselling schedule, your AP PGECET rank will be cancelled and you will not get a seat.
Other Eligibility Conditions for AP PGECET 2027
AMIE Candidates
Candidates who have passed both Section A and Section B of AMIE (Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers) are eligible to apply for M.Tech through AP PGECET 2027. AMIE is treated as equivalent to a B.E. or B.Tech degree. You must meet the 50% marks requirement in your AMIE qualification.
Distance Education Degrees
Bachelor’s degrees obtained through distance education or correspondence from institutions approved by the Distance Education Bureau (DEB) of UGC are eligible for AP PGECET 2027. The degree must be from a recognised university or institution. Check that your institution and programme are on the DEB-approved list before applying.
Lateral Entry Degree Holders
If you completed your B.Tech through lateral entry (after a 3-year diploma), your aggregate percentage is calculated only from the lateral entry semesters of the B.Tech degree. Your diploma marks do not count in the eligibility calculation. You still need 50% aggregate in the B.Tech semesters completed (45% for SC/ST/PH).
Reasons for Disqualification from AP PGECET 2027
Your application will be rejected or your rank will be cancelled if any of the following apply:
- You do not hold Indian nationality.
- You do not meet the AP domicile or local/non-local status conditions.
- Your aggregate marks in the qualifying degree are below 50% (below 45% for SC/ST/PH).
- You are an appearing candidate but fail to submit the passing certificate before the counselling deadline.
- You have active backlogs or an incomplete qualifying degree at the time of seat allotment.
- You score below 30 marks in the AP PGECET exam (for General/OBC/EWS candidates).
- You provide false or altered documents at any stage of the admission process.
