AP PGECET 2020 Exam Pattern, Marking Scheme, Important Topics

    AP PGECET 2020 for all the 14 papers will be conducted in online (computer-based) mode. Each paper will have objective type question (MCQs) in English medium. This year, Andhra University has scheduled AP PGECET 2020 to be conducted on May 02 – 04, 2020 in two sessions. The official notification was released on March 09, 2020. 

    AP PGECET Registration window has become functional from March 09, 2020. In order to acquaint the candidates with the pattern and syllabus, the authorities also release their own DEMO MOCK TEST. There will be a total of 120 questions against 120 marks. The questions evaluate the ability and competence of all the applicants.     The topics covered in the exam are Mathematics, Aptitude, and qualifying degree major. The break of the questions among the sections are as follows:

    • Mathematics (for engineering): 10 – 15 questions
    • Aptitude: 5 – 10 questions
    • Qualifying Degree Major: 90-100 questions.

    • For each question, four options are provided. You must select the most appropriate option.
    • Each question carries 1 mark and there is no negative marking in AP PGECET. 
    • Candidates can score up to a total of 120.
    • Candidates have to score above minimum qualifying marks to be able to qualify for AP PGECET 2020 Counselling.

    • The qualifying percentage of marks for AP PGECET 2020 is 25% of the maximum marks considered for the ranking.
    • However, for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe, no minimum qualifying mark is prescribed.
    • But their admission will be limited to the extent of seats reserved for such categories.
    • GATE/GPAT qualifiers are not required to appear for AP PGECET exam. The admission procedure is different for them. Also, CheckGPAT Exam

    AP PGECET Exam Pattern: Elementary Mathematics

    Mathematics is one of the most important sections in AP PGECET exam. Test makers at APSCHE devise question paper for AP PGECET to test candidates’ aptitude at engineering mathematics.  The salient feature of the section are listed below:

    The higher education commission of Telangana does not disclose its exam pattern and topic wise break up for the section. Thus candidates are advised to cover all the basic concepts and numerical to score good marks in the section.

    Aptitude is considered to be the most basic section in the exam. AP PGECET exam candidates’ logical aptitude and their approach to check their engineer antenna and their proficiency in solving logical problems in minimum time possible.

    AP PGECET Exam Pattern FAQs 

    Ques.  What are the qualifying marks for AP PGECET?

    Ans. The qualifying percentage marks for AP PGECET 2020 is 25% i.e. a candidate is required to score at least 30 marks out of 120 in order to obtain a rank. However, there will be no minimum qualifying marks for ranking of SC/ST candidates.

    Ques. Is there any negative marking in AP PGECET?

    Ans. No, there is no negative marking in AP PGECET. 1 mark will be added for each correct answer.

    Ques. What is the duration of the exam?

    Ans. Candidates have to attempt a paper of 120 questions in 2 hours. 

    Ques.  Can I take the exam in Hindi?

    Ans. AP PGECET is available in English medium, candidates don’t have a choice of hindi or any regional languages.

    Ques.  Is there an option to take the exam in pen and paper mode?

    Ans. No, AP PGECET 2020 will be conducted in computer based mode only.
