IIT Bombay released the UCEED 2027 Notification on October 1, 2026, opening registrations for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design at uceed.iitb.ac.in. The regular fee deadline passed on October 31, 2026, and candidates can now apply with a late fee of Rs. 500 until November 6, 2026 at 5:00 PM — no further extension will be offered.

  • The UCEED 2027 late fee registration window is live at uceed.iitb.ac.in; candidates who missed October 31 can still register by paying Rs. 500 extra.
  • The UCEED 2027 exam date is January 17, 2027 (Sunday), from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon in CBT mode — officially confirmed by IIT Bombay.
  • Last year, UCEED 2026 opened on October 1, 2025, closed in early November 2025 with a late fee window, and the exam was held January 19, 2026 — this cycle follows the same calendar.
  • Qualifying candidates are shortlisted separately by each participating IIT for a Studio Test and Personal Interview for B.Des admissions.

In this article, we cover all updates on the UCEED 2027 Notification, including the active late fee registration window, application fee breakdown, eligibility criteria, complete schedule of important dates, exam pattern, and how to apply at uceed.iitb.ac.in before the November 6 deadline.

UCEED 2027 Registration: Immediate Action Checklist for Students Applying in the Late Fee Window

Four days remain before the UCEED 2027 late fee deadline on November 6. Students who have not yet applied should complete these steps without delay:

  • Step 1: Visit uceed.iitb.ac.in and click "Apply for UCEED 2027" or "Candidate Login"
  • Step 2: Register with a valid email ID and mobile number to generate login credentials (check spam folder for the activation email)
  • Step 3: Keep scanned copies of your photo, signature, Class 10/12 documents, and category certificate ready before starting — mid-session uploads that fail can lock your form
  • Step 4: Fill personal and academic details, then select up to 3 exam city preferences from the dropdown
  • Step 5: Pay the application fee plus Rs. 500 late charge online and save the payment receipt and confirmation page

The entire process takes 30–45 minutes if documents are prepared in advance. An unpaid application is not treated as submitted — the form is only confirmed once the fee payment is successful and a confirmation number appears on screen.

UCEED 2027 Registration: How to Apply Online at uceed.iitb.ac.in Right Now

Step Process Tips
1 Open uceed.iitb.ac.in and click "Apply for UCEED 2027" Use Chrome or Firefox — Safari can cause session timeouts on the portal
2 Click "New Registration" and enter your name, email ID, and mobile number to create login credentials Use a personal email you actively check; IIT Bombay sends all future communications there
3 Log in and complete the personal details form — name must match your Class 10 certificate exactly Any mismatch in name or date of birth is grounds for rejection at the document verification stage

5 Upload passport-size photo (white background) and signature per size specifications Photo: JPG, 10–200 KB; Signature: JPG, 4–30 KB on plain white paper in black ink

UCEED 2027 Registration: Documents to Prepare Before Opening the Application Form

  • Passport-size photograph: White background, recent (not older than 3 months), JPG format, 10–200 KB
  • Scanned signature: Black ink on plain white paper, JPG format, 4–30 KB
  • Class 10 marksheet or board certificate: For date of birth and name verification
  • Class 12 marksheet: For 2026 passouts; admit card is acceptable for those appearing in 2027
  • Category certificate: Required for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, or PwD candidates to claim the reduced fee
  • Government-issued photo ID: Aadhaar, PAN, or passport — needed for identity verification at the exam centre

All scans must be clear and correctly sized. Blurry images or files outside the specified size range are among the most common reasons for form rejection during IIT Bombay’s verification process. Prepare all files before starting the UCEED 2027 application form to avoid incomplete submissions.

UCEED 2027 Notification: Exam Date Set as January 17, 2027 — All Shifts and Timing

IIT Bombay officially confirmed the UCEED 2027 exam date as January 17, 2027 (Sunday). The exam runs in one forenoon session from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon at computer-based test centres across India. No afternoon or evening session exists for UCEED — all candidates appear on the same day and at the same time.

The CEED 2027 exam is also held on January 17, 2027, by IIT Bombay. Candidates applying for both exams should check the official timetable at uceed.iitb.ac.in and ceed.iitb.ac.in to confirm there is no time overlap.

Historically, UCEED is always held on the third Sunday of January: UCEED 2026 was January 19, 2026; UCEED 2025 was January 19, 2025. The January 17, 2027 date fits this pattern.

UCEED 2027 Notification: Marking Scheme for Part A and Part B of the Exam

Question Type Marks for Correct Answer Negative Marking Unattempted
MCQ — Single Correct Answer (Part A) +3 –1 0
MSQ — Multiple Select Questions (Part A) +4 (all correct options selected) 0 (no negative marking) 0
NAT — Numerical Answer Type (Part A) +3 0 (no negative marking) 0
Drawing Task — Part B Up to 60 marks (manual evaluation by faculty) N/A 0

Critical rule: IIT Bombay requires candidates to score above a minimum qualifying threshold in each part separately. A high Part A score cannot compensate for a skipped or weak Part B. The Part B drawing task is evaluated manually by a panel of design faculty, and a minimum Part B score is required before the overall rank is assigned.

The exam is 3 hours long in total. Part A is entirely computer-based; Part B is done on physical answer sheets provided at the exam centre, which are collected and scanned for remote evaluation by IIT Bombay faculty. Candidates should practice Part B extensively before exam day, as it is a significant differentiator in the final rank.
