University of Toronto Mississauga Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
UTM applies the same academic and English standards as University of Toronto’s tri-campus admission office, with a separate application to the Mississauga campus recorded in OUAC 105.
Undergraduate Requirements for University of Toronto Mississauga 2027
- Class 12 academic: 85% or above from CBSE or CISCE for Arts, Science and Life Science; 90% or above with Standard Mathematics for BCom, Computer Science and Rotman Commerce (recommended).
- Curriculum: CBSE, CISCE and state boards accepted; state-board applicants typically need 90%+ for competitive majors.
- English test: IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 89 with 22 in Speaking and Writing (tests before 21 January 2026); TOEFL iBT overall 4.5 with 4.5 Writing and 4.0 Speaking (1-6 scale) for tests on or after 21 January 2026.
Postgraduate Requirements for University of Toronto Mississauga 2027
- Bachelor’s degree: 3 or 4-year Indian bachelor’s with mid-B (75% or CGPA 7.5/10) or higher for most programs (recommended); MEng and Rotman MBA require 80% or CGPA 8.0/10.
- Standardised tests: GMAT or GRE required for MBA and select MEng streams; not required for MA Economics.
- Additional documents: Statement of intent, 2-3 letters of reference and WES ICAP evaluation for Indian degrees are standard across UTM graduate programs.
Key insight: Applicants with all-English medium of instruction confirmed by their Indian university may be eligible for an IELTS or TOEFL waiver at the graduate level, but the waiver is program-specific and never applies at the undergraduate level.
University of Toronto Mississauga Acceptance Rate 2027
UTM does not publish a campus-wide acceptance rate; based on class-size and application-volume estimates across Canadian trade sources, admission sits at 30% (estimated) for the undergraduate intake and 20-25% (estimated) for competitive programs like BCom and BSc Computer Science.
| Level | Acceptance Rate (Estimated) | Notes for Indian Applicants |
|---|---|---|
| Undergraduate (all programs) | 30% (estimated) | Higher chance for Arts and Science majors |
| BCom, BSc Computer Science, Rotman Commerce | 20-25% (estimated) | Class 12 predicted 92%+ recommended |
| Graduate (MEng, MA Economics) | 25-35% (estimated) | Research fit and letters carry heavy weight |
UTM applies the same admission committee as University of Toronto’s tri-campus review, so competitiveness sits between the highly selective St. George campus and the more accessible Scarborough (UTSC) campus.
Reality check: An Indian applicant with Class 12 predicted 88-92% and IELTS 7.0 sits in the middle of UTM’s admitted range for Arts and Science; the same profile is borderline for Rotman Commerce and Computer Science.

University of Toronto Mississauga Campus, Facilities and Student Life
UTM’s 225-acre suburban campus sits along the Credit River in Mississauga, connected to downtown Toronto by the UTM Shuttle Bus and GO Transit’s Milton line.
- Location and transport: 33 km west of downtown Toronto, 20 minutes from Pearson International Airport, with hourly UTM Shuttle Bus service to the St. George campus.
- On-campus housing: Guaranteed for eligible first-year students; residence spans Oscar Peterson Hall, Roy Ivor Hall Suites and Townhouse blocks, with roughly 50% of residents from outside Canada.
- Key facilities: The Institute for Management and Innovation building, the Recreation Athletics and Wellness Centre, the North Building for Digital Media, and the Terrence Donnelly Health Sciences Complex.
- Indian student community: An active UTM Indian Students Association hosts Diwali night, Republic Day gatherings and monthly meetups.
What Indian students say: Mississauga feels calmer and more affordable than downtown Toronto, yet the GO Transit link keeps Bay Street internships and weekend social plans within a 40-minute train ride. Residence food gets mixed reviews so most Indian students switch to off-campus apartments from Year 2 onward.
University of Toronto Mississauga Scholarships 2027

University of Toronto Mississauga Rankings 2027
UTM is a campus of the University of Toronto, so the QS, THE, US News and ARWU global rankings quoted below apply to U of T as a single institution and by extension to a UTM degree, which reads University of Toronto on the parchment.

As per Times Higher Education, U of T is the top-ranked Canadian university across four of the five major global tables; the QS 2027 drop from #25 to #32 reflects a methodology re-weight rather than any change in UTM’s teaching or research quality.
Key insight: A UTM degree carries the University of Toronto seal, which meets the Designated Learning Institution list for a Canada study permit and satisfies the QS top-100 threshold for post-study work-visa priority in the UK, Germany and Singapore.

University of Toronto Mississauga Placements and Career Outcomes 2027
UTM does not publish a campus-only placement report; graduate outcomes are tracked centrally by University of Toronto’s Career Exploration and Education office and by StatsCan graduate-earnings data for the tri-campus institution.
- Employment outcome: 90% of U of T undergraduates report employment or graduate-school enrolment within 6 months of graduation, tracked by U of T’s Career Exploration and Education.
- Median starting salary: Around C$ 70,000 per year (₹47.9 Lakh) for UTM undergraduates in commerce, computer science and engineering (market median; not disclosed by UTM).
- Post-MBA salary: Rotman MBA graduates report a median base of C$ 130,000 per year (₹88.9 Lakh) as per the 2025 Rotman employment report.
- Representative recruiters: Sectors dominated by Big Five Canadian banks, consulting firms, life-science research labs and Toronto-based tech scale-ups; specific hiring lists are not disclosed by UTM.
- Careers support: UTM Career Centre offers on-campus interview days, LinkedIn and resume clinics, and a Career Learning Network that hosts around 40 employer events per term.
Insider note: Indian graduates most often move from UTM into Toronto-based analyst roles at RBC, TD, CIBC and the Big Four consulting firms; PGWP eligibility gives them up to three years to secure a Canadian PR pathway through Express Entry.
University of Toronto Mississauga vs Peer Universities
Peers below sit either within the U of T tri-campus system or among the top Canadian and North American research universities that Indian applicants weigh alongside UTM.
| University | QS Rank 2027 | Avg Annual PG Fee (C$) | Avg Annual PG Fee (₹ Lakh) | Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| University of Toronto Mississauga | #32 (tri-campus) | C$ 55,000 (median) | ₹37.6 Lakh | Flat sessional fees, C$ 180,000 scholarship pathway |
| University of Toronto (St. George) | #32 | C$ 62,000 (median) | ₹42.4 Lakh | Downtown campus, larger PG portfolio |
| University of British Columbia | #38 | C$ 45,000 (median) | ₹30.8 Lakh | Cheaper PG fees, stronger CS ranking |
| McGill University | #29 | C$ 41,000 (median) | ₹28.1 Lakh | Lowest PG fees among U15, Montreal cost base |
| University of Waterloo | #116 | C$ 60,000 (median) | ₹41.1 Lakh | Co-op programs, tech recruiter pipeline |
UTM stands out for the flat program-fee billing that fixes total cost early, and for the automatically-assessed International Scholar Award UTM worth up to C$ 180,000 (₹123.2 Lakh) over four years. On the QS 2027 table, UTM’s parent institution ranks second in Canada behind McGill and ahead of UBC.
University of Toronto Mississauga suits an Indian applicant chasing a top-30 global degree at a lower-cost suburban campus with automatic 6-figure scholarship consideration and a direct 3-year PGWP pathway. Total 4-year cost sits near ₹250 Lakh against a median starting salary of ₹47.9 Lakh, giving a payback window of roughly 5-6 years for graduates who stay in Canada.
UTM is not the right fit for an applicant who prizes a downtown campus, a specialist engineering degree with co-op built in, or a smaller cohort experience; McGill in Montreal or University of Waterloo in Kitchener-Waterloo often make a stronger match for those goals.
University of Toronto Mississauga FAQs
Ques. Does University of Toronto Mississauga offer a January intake for international students?
Ans. UTM’s primary intake for international undergraduates is September; a January intake is not offered at the undergraduate level. Select graduate programs, including some MEng streams and part-time PhD tracks, accept January starts, but every applicant must confirm the January option on the specific program page before applying because most master’s degrees remain September-only for cohort continuity.
Ques. What is the application fee at UTM for international undergraduate applicants?
Ans. The OUAC 105 international undergraduate application fee is C$ 156 (₹10,674) for the first choice, with an additional C$ 90 (₹6,158) fee payable directly to University of Toronto for supplementary Mississauga application processing. Fee waivers are rare and reserved for applicants under UNHCR refugee status. Indian applicants pay these fees online by credit card at OUAC before U of T processes their file.
Ques. Can Indian students at UTM work part-time during the academic year?
Ans. Yes. Full-time UTM international students with a valid study permit may work up to 24 hours per week off-campus during the Fall and Winter terms and unlimited hours during scheduled breaks. On-campus work through UTM’s Work Study Program is unlimited and doesn’t count toward the 24-hour cap. Indian students commonly take Work Study roles as research assistants, library staff and residence dons.
Ques. Which Indian education loan providers recognise University of Toronto Mississauga?
Ans. UTM sits on the pre-approved list of every major Indian education-loan lender because it is part of the University of Toronto, a QS top-100 institution. SBI Global Ed-Vantage, HDFC Credila, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Avanse and Auxilo all lend up to ₹1.5 Crore for UTM programs, typically without collateral for STEM masters below ₹75 Lakh and with collateral for larger MBA loans.
Ques. Does UTM require SAT or ACT scores for Indian undergraduate applicants?
Ans. No. SAT and ACT scores are not required for admission to UTM undergraduate programs; U of T’s admission committee reviews Class 12 predicted and final board results directly. SAT or ACT scores may be submitted as supporting evidence but do not replace the Class 12 academic requirement of 85% for Arts and Science or 90% with Standard Mathematics for BCom and Computer Science.
Ques. How does UTM handle conditional offers for Indian Class 12 students?
Ans. UTM issues conditional offers based on Class 12 predicted grades and unaudited Class 11 marksheets. Final Class 12 boards must reach the U of T admissions office by mid-July of the entry year, uploaded through Join U of T portal or sent direct from CBSE and CISCE. If final scores fall below the conditional benchmark by more than 2 percentage points, the conditional offer is withdrawn without appeal.
Ques. What documents do Indian applicants need for WES credential evaluation for UTM?
Ans. WES ICAP is standard for UTM graduate applications from India. Applicants must send attested transcripts and degree certificates from every Indian university attended, in sealed envelopes direct from the registrar to WES Canada. Processing takes 7-20 business days. Undergraduate applicants generally don’t need WES; U of T evaluates CBSE, CISCE and state-board marksheets in-house through the Join U of T portal.
Ques. Is a co-op or paid internship option available at University of Toronto Mississauga?
Ans. Yes. UTM runs the Professional Experience Year (PEY) and UTM Corporate Internship Program (UTMCIP) for Computer Science, Digital Enterprise Management and Communication majors. Internships last 12-16 months at Canadian and multinational employers with typical pay of C$ 55,000 to 70,000 (₹37.6 to 47.9 Lakh) annualised. During PEY the International Scholar Award payments are paused and resumed on academic return.
