Schulich School of Business, the graduate business school of York University in North York, Toronto, is ranked #99 globally in the QS Global MBA Rankings 2026 and #1 in Canada for both Master of Supply Chain Management and Master of Marketing 2026. Founded in 1966 and named after philanthropist Seymour Schulich, the school sits on York’s Keele campus with a downtown Miles S. Nadal facility for executive learners.

Schulich runs a two-year full-time MBA, a 12-month Tech MBA, and nine specialised masters programmes (Finance, Marketing, Business Analytics, AI, Supply Chain, Real Estate, Accounting, Management and Health Industry). All are taught in English, with a September primary intake and a limited January entry for select masters. Indian applicants make up one of the largest international cohorts, backed by an in-country MBA route through the Hyderabad campus. See the country peer set on MBA universities in Canada.

  • QS Global MBA Rank 2026: #99 (Top 100 worldwide, #4 in Canada)
  • Acceptance rate: 35% (estimated) for the full-time MBA
  • Intakes: September (primary), January (select masters)
  • MBA total tuition (international): CAD 124,011 (INR 84.6 lakh)
  • MBA average total compensation 2024: CAD 95,578 (INR 65.2 lakh)

Schulich publishes term-by-term tuition each Fall, opens Round 1 for the September 2027 MBA on 21 October 2026, and considers every international applicant automatically for merit awards worth up to CAD 12,000. Indian students on a study permit qualify for a three-year Post-Graduation Work Permit after completing a two-year masters, easing the study in Canada pathway to Permanent Residency.

Exchange rate used: 1 CAD = INR 68.24 as of September 2026

Admission Status: Open (September 2027 MBA intake). Schulich’s Round 1 MBA deadline for both domestic and international applicants is 21 October 2026, Round 2 is 20 January 2027, and Round 3, the final round for international candidates, is 3 March 2027. Indian applicants are advised to file by Round 2 to protect scholarship consideration and allow at least four months for study-permit processing. Specialised masters (MFin, MMkt, MBAN, MMAI, MSCM, MREI, MAcc, MMgt) follow their own rolling deadlines listed on each programme page.

Popular Courses at Schulich School of Business Fees 2027

Schulich publishes tuition on a per-term basis and revises it each Fall. The full-time MBA runs four academic terms across 16 to 20 months, while most specialised masters programmes complete in three terms across 12 months. As per Schulich’s 2026-27 tuition schedule, international tuition per term ranges from CAD 24,118 for the Master of Management to CAD 34,064 for the Tech MBA.

Top Undergraduate Programmes at Schulich for Indian Students

Undergraduate applicants from India enter the Bachelor of Business Administration or the International Bachelor of Business Administration, both four-year programmes with a September intake. Tuition is billed on a per-course basis under York University’s Student Financial Services, so the annual figure varies with course load.

Insider note: Indian applicants overwhelmingly pick the full-time MBA, MBAN and MMAI at Schulich. The MMgt suits engineering and science graduates who want a business primer without a work-experience requirement.

Schulich School of Business Admission 2027

Schulich runs three staged admission rounds for international MBA applicants and rolling admission for most specialised masters. September is the primary intake for every degree; January is available only for select graduate programmes and confirmed per programme page.

Schulich MBA Admission Dates 2027

The dates below apply to the September 2027 full-time MBA intake for international applicants, taken from Schulich’s official MBA admission requirements page.

MilestoneDateNotes for Indian Applicants
Round 1 application deadline21 October 2026Best round for scholarship consideration and study-permit lead time
Round 2 application deadline20 January 2027Recommended last round for Indian applicants; most funding is committed after this
Round 3 application deadline (final for international)3 March 2027File only if Round 2 was missed; scholarship pool typically exhausted
Credential verification (WES)Start six to eight weeks before deadlineWES ICAP required for all Indian degrees
Programme startSeptember 2027Orientation typically the last week of August

[Source: Schulich MBA admissions page]

Planning note: Canadian study-permit processing from India runs beyond 16 weeks in 2026. Applying in Round 1 or Round 2 protects orientation week attendance; a Round 3 admit typically forces a deferral to January-eligible programmes or a delayed September arrival.

Schulich School of Business Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027

Indian applicants must clear an academic threshold, an English proficiency test, and, for the MBA, a standardised entrance test plus two years of work experience.

  • Academic: Four-year bachelor’s degree with a minimum B average in the last two years, equivalent to 75% or CGPA 8.0/10 for Indian applicants (recommended). MBA applicants need a minimum two years of post-degree full-time work experience.
  • English proficiency: IELTS Academic 7.0 overall with 6.5 in each band; TOEFL iBT 100 (legacy 0-120 scale) with 23 in each section, or TOEFL iBT 5 (new 1-6 band scale, from 21 January 2026) with 4.5 in each section. Waived only if the bachelor’s was taught in English for at least two full years.
  • Entrance test: GMAT minimum 550 or GMAT Focus 515 for consideration; GRE accepted with equivalent scores. No minimum applies to Executive MBA.
  • Credential verification: WES ICAP evaluation of all Indian transcripts and degree certificates; typically six to eight weeks in advance.

Undergraduate applicants to the BBA and iBBA submit Class 12 CBSE, ISC or state-board marksheets with an overall average of 85% including English and Mathematics (recommended); iBBA additionally requires a second-language subject at Class 12.

Key insight: Schulich does not publish a hard GMAT cutoff, but its Fall 2025 MBA class averaged around 660 on GMAT and 315 on GRE. Indian applicants targeting scholarships should aim for 680+ or GMAT Focus 645+ to strengthen the automatic merit review.

Schulich School of Business Acceptance Rate 2027

Schulich does not publish an official acceptance rate. Based on class-size disclosures and applicant-pool figures in 2025, the full-time MBA acceptance rate sits at roughly 35% (estimated), with specialised masters ranging 25-45% (estimated) depending on programme demand.

Programmes with the largest Indian applicant pipelines, namely MBAN, MFin and MMAI, run tighter than the school average. The Tech MBA and Master of Management run smaller cohorts and often admit at rates below 30% (estimated).

Reality check: Indian applicants clearing 75% or CGPA 8.0/10 with GMAT 660+ and two-plus years of relevant work experience are well within the admissible band. The bar rises sharply when applying in Round 3, where remaining seats are limited and scholarship consideration is effectively closed.

Schulich Fees and Cost of Living for Indian Students 2027

An Indian student on the full-time MBA should budget total two-year tuition of CAD 124,011 (INR 84.6 lakh) plus roughly CAD 20,136 (INR 13.7 lakh) per year of living costs, taking a two-year investment to about CAD 164,283 (INR 112.1 lakh) before scholarships.

Monthly Cost of Living in Toronto for Indian Students

Toronto and the North York campus sit inside the Greater Toronto Area, where rent is the largest single monthly cost. The table shows shared-accommodation estimates for a student living within a 30-minute TTC ride of the Keele campus.

Accommodation (shared, North York)900 (estimated)INR 61,416

Insider note: A private room in a shared North York apartment runs CAD 800-1,100 a month; the same room within a 15-minute walk of King or Queen Street downtown costs CAD 1,400-1,800. Living near the Keele campus and commuting to internships by TTC saves an Indian student roughly CAD 6,000 (INR 4.1 lakh) across a two-year MBA.

Schulich School of Business Campus, Facilities and Student Life

Schulich’s primary building is the Seymour Schulich Building on York University’s 457-acre Keele campus in North York, connected to downtown Toronto by TTC subway Line 1. A second facility, the Miles S. Nadal Management Centre, sits at 222 Bay Street in the Financial District for executive and part-time cohorts.

  • Location and transport: Keele campus is 12 minutes on the TTC subway to York Mills and 40 minutes to Union Station; the Nadal Centre is inside Brookfield Place on Bay Street.
  • Housing: On-campus graduate residences at York Apartments run around CAD 1,100 a month including utilities; guaranteed housing is offered to first-year international students who apply by the May deadline.
  • Facilities: Peter F. Bronfman Business Library, Rob and Cheryl McEwen Graduate Study and Research Building, four case classrooms, dedicated career-services suite, and 250-plus student clubs across York University.
  • Indian student community: The Schulich India Business Association hosts an annual India Business Conference and connects incoming students to the alumni network in Toronto and Mumbai.

What Indian students say: The two-year MBA gives room to complete the strategic-consulting project and land a summer internship, which is the main channel into full-time offers. The North York location saves rent versus downtown but adds a 45-minute commute to Bay Street networking events.

Schulich School of Business Scholarships 2027

Schulich lists more than 15 named entrance scholarships for international MBA and masters students; Indian applicants are considered automatically for merit-based awards on submission, with three additional awards specific to the MBA in India cohort.

Planning note: Most Schulich merit awards are effectively decided at Round 1 and Round 2. An Indian applicant filing in Round 3 is competing only for the small pool of continuing-student awards, which is why the school itself flags Round 2 as the practical deadline for scholarship-seeking candidates.

Schulich School of Business Rankings 2027

Schulich’s strongest positions are its #99 in the QS Global MBA Rankings 2026 and its #1 in Canada rankings for Master of Supply Chain Management and Master of Marketing in QS 2026. As a business school within York University, Schulich itself is not ranked in QS World University Rankings; the table below uses the business-school-specific rankings that apply directly to Schulich.

Schulich’s Master of Marketing was also ranked #1 in Canada and inside the global Top 50 in QS 2026, and its full-time MBA earned a Top 100 place for career growth in the LinkedIn 2025 rankings.

Key insight: Indian recruiters in banking, consulting and tech recognise Schulich for its FT and QS placements. For MBA candidates targeting a post-study Canadian role, the Corporate Knights sustainability ranking has become the credential most cited by employers in the ESG and impact-investing space.

Schulich School of Business Placements and Career Outcomes 2027

Schulich’s Centre for Career Design reported strong post-graduation outcomes for the MBA Class of 2024, driven by consulting, financial services and technology hiring across the Greater Toronto Area.

  • Employment within six months of graduation: 91% of the Full-Time MBA Class of 2024
  • Average total compensation: CAD 95,578 (INR 65.2 lakh) for the Full-Time MBA Class of 2024
  • Top hiring sectors: Technology, financial services, consulting, consumer goods and healthcare
  • Career services: Two-term Strategic Consulting Project with real clients, dedicated MBA career coach and on-campus recruiting from major Canadian and global employers
  • Post-Study Work Permit: Indian graduates of the two-year MBA qualify for a three-year Post-Graduation Work Permit under IRCC rules, the longest work-permit route available in Canada

Insider note: Indian MBA graduates place strongest in technology (Deloitte, RBC, TD Bank digital) and consulting (KPMG, EY, Bain). Sponsorship for Permanent Residency typically follows the first full-time role, not the internship, so an Indian student should optimise for a return offer from the summer internship.

Schulich School of Business vs Peer Universities

Schulich sits alongside four peer Canadian business schools that Indian applicants routinely compare on tuition, MBA rank and career reach. The table uses the QS Global MBA 2026 edition for comparability.

Business SchoolQS Global MBA 2026Total MBA Fee (CAD)Total MBA Fee (INR lakh)Differentiator
Schulich School of Business (York)#99124,01184.6 lakhBroadest specialisation menu, Toronto Financial District access
Rotman School of Management (Toronto)NA (verify at official page)NA (verify at official page)NABay Street network, quantitative rigour
Ivey Business School (Western)NA (verify at official page)NA (verify at official page)NAOne-year MBA, case-method teaching
Sauder School of Business (UBC)NA (verify at official page)NA (verify at official page)NA16-month MBA, Asia-Pacific corridor
Desautels Faculty of Management (McGill)NA (verify at official page)NA (verify at official page)NALowest MBA tuition among Canada’s top 5, Montreal location

Schulich’s edge over Rotman and Ivey is the width of specialised masters and the SEED scholarship pipeline, which drops effective tuition by 25-50% for shortlisted Indian applicants. It trails Ivey on speed to market with its 16-to-20-month full-time MBA versus Ivey’s 12-month cycle.

Schulich School of Business fits the Indian applicant with two or more years of work experience, GMAT 660 or above, and a plan to build a career in Toronto’s Bay Street, technology or consulting corridor. The two-year MBA at CAD 124,011 (INR 84.6 lakh) plus CAD 20,136 (INR 13.7 lakh) yearly living costs pays back in three to four working years at the Class of 2024 median compensation of CAD 95,578, and the three-year Post-Graduation Work Permit gives the runway to convert that offer into Permanent Residency via study in Canada immigration pathways.

Schulich is a weaker fit for candidates seeking a 12-month MBA finish, in which case Ivey Business School at Western is a stronger match, or for those wanting the lowest possible tuition, where Desautels at McGill remains the value benchmark.

Schulich School of Business FAQs

Ques. Does Schulich School of Business accept the GMAT Focus Edition?

Ans. Yes, Schulich accepts both the classic GMAT and the GMAT Focus Edition for MBA admission. The official minimum for consideration is 550 on the classic GMAT or 515 on GMAT Focus, though the Fall 2025 class average was closer to 660. Executive MBA and specialised masters programmes have their own test policies, with several masters waiving GMAT for applicants with a quantitative undergraduate background or CFA credentials.

Ques. Can Indian students work part-time while studying at Schulich?

Ans. Yes. Under current IRCC rules, an Indian student on a Canadian study permit at Schulich may work up to 24 hours a week off-campus during academic terms and full-time during scheduled breaks. On-campus work is unlimited. MBA students typically take a paid four-month summer internship between first and second year, which does not count against the 24-hour limit as it falls under the co-op work permit.

Ques. How do I apply to the Schulich MBA in India programme?

Ans. The Schulich MBA in India runs from the Hyderabad campus and lets Indian candidates complete the first year in Hyderabad and the second year in Toronto. Applications are made through the same Schulich MBA portal, with a separate India-track deadline. Dean’s Entrance Award India of CAD 15,000 (INR 10.2 lakh) and the Kamlesh G Moorjani Scholarship of CAD 5,000 are exclusive to this cohort.

Ques. What documents does WES require for Schulich applicants from India?

Ans. Schulich requires a WES ICAP course-by-course evaluation for all Indian bachelor’s degrees. Indian applicants must send attested transcripts and the degree certificate directly from the awarding university to WES Canada. The evaluation typically takes 20 business days once WES receives the documents, so Schulich advises starting six to eight weeks before your target round deadline to avoid delays.

Ques. Is there a January intake for Schulich masters programmes?

Ans. September is the primary intake for every Schulich degree. A limited number of specialised masters, including MMgt and MHIA, run a January cohort in some years, confirmed on each programme page. The full-time MBA, Tech MBA and MBAN are September-only. Indian applicants missing the September window should look at the twin January cohort where offered, or defer to the next September intake.

Ques. What loan partners do Indian students use for Schulich fees?

Ans. Indian applicants typically fund Schulich through education loans from HDFC Credila, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Avanse and Prodigy Finance. Prodigy Finance and MPOWER Financing offer no-cosigner loans in USD or CAD priced against SOFR, useful for MBA candidates without a large Indian collateral base. Loan disbursement letters are accepted by IRCC as proof of funds for the Canadian study permit application.

Ques. Does Schulich sponsor Permanent Residency for Indian graduates?

Ans. Schulich as an institution does not sponsor PR directly. Indian graduates typically use the three-year Post-Graduation Work Permit after a two-year masters, gain 12 months of skilled Canadian work experience, and then apply via the Canadian Experience Class stream of Express Entry. A masters from Schulich adds Comprehensive Ranking System points, materially improving PR odds versus a one-year credential.

Ques. What is the application fee for Schulich School of Business programmes?

Ans. The Schulich MBA application fee is CAD 150 (INR 10,236), paid online at submission. Specialised masters programmes charge a similar CAD 150 application fee per application. Application fee waivers are extended to candidates from partner outreach programmes and selected Forte or ROMBA events; Indian applicants can request a waiver by writing to admissions before submitting the application.
