SDMIMD Admission 2027 runs through three separate routes, and each route has its own form and its own deadline.
- PGDM admission is based on a valid CAT, XAT, GMAT, NMAT, CMAT, ATMA or MAT score, followed by a group discussion, a written ability test and a personal interview.
- Ph.D. in Management Studies admission is based on a master's degree with 55 percent marks, and it follows the University of Mysore doctoral regulations.
- Management Development Programs admission is based on employer nomination or individual registration, and no entrance exam applies.
SDMIMD opened its PGDM 2027-29 application window in September 2026 on admissions.sdmimd.ac.in. CAT 2026 will be held on November 29, 2026, XAT 2027 will held on January 3, 2027 and CMAT 2027 will take place on February 7, 2027.
Admission Update
- PGDM 2027-29: The application window is live, and the last date to submit the form is December 31, 2026.
- Ph.D. in Management Studies: Applications are invited through SDM RCMS, and the next deadline is expected in August 2027.
- Management Development Programs: The program calendar is generally offered in May, and the next set is expected in May 2027.
SDMIMD PGDM Admission 2027
The Post Graduate Diploma in Management is a two-year full-time residential program with a sanctioned intake of 240 seats at SDMIMD. Admission runs on a single online form and one selection process. The institute accepts seven national entrance exams, so an applicant needs only one qualifying score.
Shortlisting is not done on the entrance score alone. The institute combines the score with the Class 10, Class 12 and degree record, the extracurricular record and any work experience. That combination is why the institute publishes no numeric cutoff.
SDMIMD PGDM Admission Dates 2027
The application deadline of December 31, 2026 comes before the results of two accepted exams. The institute handles this by letting an applicant file the form first and send the score later.
| Event |

| Phase 1 Application Deadline |

February 2027 to March 2027 |
| Phase 2 Application Deadline |

| Phase 3 Application Deadline |

The institute has fixed the application deadline and the interview window for this cycle. The remaining months follow the order of the same stages in the 2026-28 cycle, where the interviews ran from February 2026 to March 2026.
SDMIMD PGDM Eligibility Criteria 2027
Eligibility is tested on the degree, on the marks record and on the entrance score. The marks rule is the clause that catches the largest number of applicants, because it applies to three qualifications separately rather than to the degree alone.
| Particulars |
Details |
| Qualifying degree |
Full-time graduation in any discipline recognised by the UGC or AIU |
| Minimum marks |
50 percent aggregate in Class 10, Class 12 and the degree |
| Final year applicants |
Eligible, counting marks up to the second year or the last completed semester |
| Accepted entrance exams |
CAT/XAT/GMAT/NMAT/CMAT/ATMA/MAT |
| Score validity |
As per the validity rules of the respective exam |
| Work experience |
Not mandatory, and considered at the shortlisting stage |
Part-time and correspondence degrees do not satisfy the qualifying degree rule. The institute asks for a full-time graduation course recognised by the University Grants Commission or the Association of Indian Universities. A candidate with a distance degree should confirm recognition with the admissions office before paying the application fee.
SDMIMD PGDM Selection Criteria 2027
Selection runs in four steps, and three of them happen after the deadline. The assessment stage combines a group discussion, a written ability test and a personal interview, held at several centres across India.
| Step |
What the Institute Assesses |
| Step 1: Shortlisting |
Consistent academic performance, entrance exam score, extracurricular record and work experience |
| Step 2: Written ability test |
Written expression and reasoning on a set topic |
| Step 2: Group discussion |
Clarity and reasoning within a group |
| Step 2: Personal interview |
Motivation, awareness and fit with the program |
| Step 3: Offer letter |
Seat blocked on payment of the first instalment by the due date |
| Step 4: Confirmation |
Seat confirmed on receipt of the entrance scorecard and the second instalment |
The institute does not publish the weightage carried by each step. Its mandatory disclosure records the basis of the last admitted candidate as an overall assessment of Class 10, Class 12, graduation, the competitive entrance examination, the essay writing performance and the personal interview. An applicant with a moderate percentile and a strong marks record is therefore still in contention.
As per Collegedunia Reviews an enrolled PGDM student described the selection as two rounds, an essay writing task and an interview, attended at a centre of the applicant's own choice.
Online interviews are scheduled on specific request. That matters for an applicant who cannot travel to a listed centre in February 2027 or March 2027, and the request has to be made to the admissions office rather than assumed.
SDMIMD PGDM Expected Cutoff 2027
SDMIMD does not release an official cutoff for the PGDM program. Its mandatory disclosure describes the cutoff of the last admitted candidate as an overall profile assessment rather than a percentile. The figures below are expected bands and not the final scores.
| Entrance Exam |
Expected Percentile for PGDM |
| CAT |
60 to 70 |
| XAT |
60 to 70 |
| CMAT |
70 to 80 |
| MAT |
70 to 80 |
| ATMA |
70 to 80 |
These are expected bands, not the final scores, and the institute has confirmed none of them. The applicant pool decides the working bar in any given cycle, because all 240 seats are filled from one merit route. Year-wise figures for each accepted exam are collected on the SDMIMD cutoff page.

How to Apply for SDMIMD PGDM 2027?
The application is submitted online, and the payment of the fee is a separate step from the submission of the form. An applicant who skips the score email after the result is published leaves the file incomplete.
- Open the admission portal at admissions.sdmimd.ac.in and register with a name, an email address and a mobile number.
- Complete the online application form with the academic record, the entrance exam details and the work experience details.
- Pay the application fee of INR 1,500 through the online payment link, or by cheque or demand draft.
- Draw a demand draft in favour of The Director, SDM Institute for Management Development, payable at Mysore.
- Email the entrance exam registration details to admission@sdmimd.ac.in with the application number and the name, where no score is available.
- Email the CAT, XAT, GMAT, NMAT, CMAT, ATMA or MAT scorecard to the same address as soon as the result is announced.
- Attend the group discussion, the written ability test and the personal interview at the selected centre.
- Pay the first instalment by the due date in the offer letter to block the seat, then pay the second instalment to confirm it.
A candidate who has not registered for any entrance exam can still submit the form and send the registration details afterwards. This is the single most useful feature of the process, because it decouples the institute's deadline from every exam calendar.

Documents Required for SDMIMD PGDM Admission
The online form and the selection stages call for the records below. The institute asks for the entrance exam details at two points, once at application and once after the result.
- Class 10 marksheet
- Class 12 or PUC second year marksheet
- Degree marksheets for every completed year or semester
- Provisional or final degree certificate, where the degree is complete
- Entrance exam registration number at the application stage
- Entrance exam scorecard once the result is announced
- Recent passport size photograph
- Work experience letter, where the applicant claims experience
- Government photo identity proof
- Application fee payment reference or the demand draft
A final year applicant submits marks up to the last completed semester at the application stage. The remaining marksheets and the degree certificate follow once the university publishes them.
SDMIMD Ph.D. Admission
The doctoral program is run by the SDM Research Center for Management Studies, which is recognised as a research centre by the University of Mysore. Admission follows the University of Mysore regulations governing the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, framed in 2010. Course-level information is available on the SDMIMD Ph.D. in Management Studies page.
The route carries no entrance exam of the institute's own. Selection rests on the academic record, the proposed research area and the interview held by the research centre.
Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria
A master's degree with 55 percent marks is the base requirement, and three further categories qualify on top of it. Each of those categories still has to meet the 55 percent rule.
| Category |
Requirement |
| Master's degree holders |
Master's degree or equivalent diploma with 55 percent marks or an equivalent CGPA |
| Working executives |
At least three years of experience in industry or an allied corporate sector, with the marks rule met |
| Management faculty |
Faculty member of a business school or a management department, with the marks rule met |
| Postgraduate diploma holders |
Diploma in retailing, finance, marketing, human resources or an allied area, with the marks rule met |

SDMIMD Management Development Program Admission
Management Development Programs are open to working executives, and the calendar is generally offered in May. Programs in high demand are scheduled again later in the academic year. Fee and duration detail for each offering is listed on the SDMIMD MDP page.
There is no entrance exam and no merit list. A participant joins through an employer nomination or an individual registration made with the program coordinator.
The institute also runs the NSE Certified Capital Markets Professional program with the National Stock Exchange. That program runs for one year and covers equity research, merchant banking and portfolio advisory work. Client specific programs are built with the client organisation and carry no public admission window.

Note: SDMIMD accepts the widest set of entrance exams in this group, which makes it the most reachable of the four for a CMAT, ATMA or MAT candidate. It is also the only one of the four that tests the 50 percent bar at school level as well as degree level, so a weak Class 10 or Class 12 year blocks an otherwise strong file. TAPMI and XIME publish their weightage splits, which lets an applicant model the trade-off between score and interview, and SDMIMD does not.
The admissions office handles the PGDM route, and the research centre handles the doctoral route. Score emails and form queries go to different addresses, so the correct one matters.

Ques. What is the SDMIMD PGDM application fee?
