Allahabad University Exam Pattern 2027: Marking Scheme, Total Marks, Marks Distribution

Allahabad University PGAT 2027 examination is conducted every year for admission into various postgraduate courses in Allahabad Degree College and its affiliated colleges. Allahabad University has not yet announced the (Postgraduate Admission Test) PGAT 2027 exam pattern.

• Based on the PGAT 2026 exam pattern, the examination will be divided into two parts: PGAT-I and PGAT-II.
• The conventional courses from Humanities, Sciences, and a few Specialised courses like Music, Theatre & Film will fall under PGAT-I.
• The professional courses like Food & Nutrition, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, along with Law, Commerce and Educational courses will come under PGAT-II.
• PGAT-II would also include vocational courses like Textile & Apparel Designing, Design & Innovation, etc.
• The total marks for PGAT examination are 300, comprising 150 Multiple-choice-questions (MCQs).
• The PGAT 2027 marks distribution will include +2 for every correct answer and no negative marking for incorrect and unattempted questions.
• Section A has fifty questions related to General Awareness, General English, General Hindi, Logical Reasoning and Mental Ability and will be compulsory for all courses except LL.M., B.Ed., M.Ed. and M.B.A./M.B.A.(RD).
• 12 questions are expected to be asked from General Awareness, 5 from General English and Hindi, and 8 questions from Logical Reasoning and Mental Ability.
• The remaining 100 questions in Section B will be as per the applicant's choice of programme.
• PGAT exam duration extends to 3 hours, except for LLB, which will be for 2 hours.

Depending upon the facilities available in the nearest test centre, PGAT-I is conducted in both online and offline modes, while PGAT-II is conducted exclusively in online (CBT) mode.

Allahabad University PGAT 2027: Section-Wise Exam Pattern

Section A, which is compulsory and the same for everyone, carries 50 questions worth 100 marks (33%) and covers General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General English, General Hindi, Logical Reasoning, and Mental Ability.

Section B (67%), on the other hand, is subject-specific. Students will get these 100 questions worth 200 Marks, as per their chosen course: M.A. History, M.Com, M.Sc. Physics etc.

• The total time duration for PGAT examination is 3 hours (180 minutes), which works out to roughly 72 seconds per question on average.
• There's no internal choice in either section, which means all of the 150 questions are compulsory.
• It should be noted that candidates shortlisted through PGAT-II for admission to the MBA course will also be required to participate in a Group Discussion and Personal Interview as part of the selection process.
• The time duration and pattern for the LLB course are slightly different, which will be covered in the subsequent section.

Allahabad University PGAT Exam Pattern 2027: For LLB

The Allahabad University PGAT Exam pattern for the 3-year LLB course is slightly different. Although the total questions and marks remain the same, which is 150 questions & 300 marks but there will be three sections, unlike the other courses.

• The LLB paper is divided into three equal parts, each worth 100 marks.
• Part I– Language Comprehension: It contains 50 questions testing Hindi and English languages, asking questions from grammar, comprehension, and composition.
• Part II– General Knowledge and Current Affairs: This section also contains 50 questions and asks questions from the latest news, appointments, and orders at the national and international level.
• Part III– Legal Aptitude: It contains 50 questions and assesses reasoning, Mental Ability, and Legal Aptitude. It includes questions like logical and analytical reasoning puzzles, basic legal principles and their application to fact situations, and questions on legal terms, maxims, and landmark concepts.
• The LLB Exam Duration is 2 hours (120 minutes), averaging out to 48 seconds per question.
• Just like the other sections, the LLB exam too shall award 2 marks for every correct answer and deduct no marks for incorrect/unattempted questions.

Allahabad University PGAT Sectional Weightage

• Section A of PGAT has no official syllabus, but based on previous year question papers, the following topics are expected:

• Section B also doesn't follow a single -wide weightage; instead, it asks questions directly from the final-year undergraduate syllabus of the subject you've chosen. For instance, a Physics candidate can expect the full breadth of their B.Sc. syllabus, while an Economics candidate should expect coverage across Micro/Macroeconomics, Indian Economy, Statistics, and Economic Policy.

PGAT Exam Pattern: Duration of Exam

• PGAT exam duration will be 3 hours for all the courses listed in PGAT-I. The LLB course, which is a part of PGAT-II, will be conducted for a duration of 2 hours.
• This exam will be conducted over four days, across two shifts a day
