AP POLYCET Eligibility Criteria 2027: Qualification, Age Limit, Qualifying Marks and Reservation

AP POLYCET Eligibility Criteria 2027 requires candidates to pass or appear for SSC or an equivalent Class 10 exam with Mathematics. The AP POLYCET 2027 notification is expected in March 2027, and the 2026 applications opened on March 3, 2026.

SBTET Andhra Pradesh conducts AP POLYCET for admission to the diploma courses of polytechnics in the state. As per the AP POLYCET Eligibility Criteria in the brochure, there is no age limit. You need a score of at least 30 out of 120 marks for a rank. Based on the POLYCET 2026 Information Brochure of SBTET Andhra Pradesh:

• Candidates must be Indian nationals who belong to Andhra Pradesh under G.O.(P) No. 646.
• Candidates from outside Andhra Pradesh can compete for the 15% unreserved seats, and 85% go to locals.
• Students writing the Class 10 exam in March 2027 can also apply for AP POLYCET 2027.
• The qualifying score of 25% does not apply to SC and ST candidates.
• Candidates should keep the SSC hall ticket number ready, since the application starts with it.

AP POLYCET 2027 Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed the SSC exam of the Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh or Telangana. The board also accepts the Class 10 exams of the other boards listed below.

• Every accepted board must include Mathematics as one of the subjects.
• The 35% rule applies to NIOS, APOSS, and other boards recognised as equivalent to SSC.

AP POLYCET 2027 Age Limit

The POLYCET 2026 brochure sets no minimum and no maximum age for the exam. The age rules of the Social Welfare Department still apply to a candidate who claims a scholarship.

• A candidate who passed Class 10 in an earlier year can also apply.
• The date of birth in the SSC certificate is used again at the tie-break stage.

AP POLYCET 2027 Domicile Status

85% of the seats in each state-wide polytechnic are filled by local candidates of the two university areas. The other 15% are unreserved and open to local and non-local candidates.

• The two local areas are the Andhra University area and the Sri Venkateswara University area.
• A non-local candidate competes only for the 15% unreserved seats on the AP POLYCET rank.

AP POLYCET 2027 Qualifying Marks

Candidates need a score of 25%, which is 30 out of 120 marks, to qualify. SC and ST candidates are ranked with no minimum score.

• A qualifying rank does not by itself give a candidate the right to a seat.
• The brochure does not allow revaluation or retotalling of the answer sheet.

AP POLYCET 2027 Reservation of Seats

Open competition takes 50% of the seats in non-minority polytechnics. SC candidates get 15%, ST candidates 6% and BC candidates 29%.

• 33.33% of the seats in co-educational polytechnics are reserved for girls in each category.
• 5% of the seats in every category are held horizontally for candidates with benchmark disabilities.

AP POLYCET 2027 Special Reservation Categories

Three special categories take a fixed share of the seats, and each one needs its own certificate at counselling. CAP seats go only to children whose parents are domiciled in Andhra Pradesh.

AP POLYCET 2027 Eligibility for Residential and Minority Polytechnics

The residential polytechnics follow their own reservation, and all their seats are for boys. The government minority polytechnics at Kurnool and Guntur admit only minority candidates.

AP POLYCET 2027 Eligibility: What Candidates Are Asking on Quora and Reddit

On Quora, a student asked whether the polytechnic entrance can be written after Intermediate first year. A candidate who did so answered that there is no restriction, and the answerer got rank 1890.

On Reddit, a family asked in May 2026 whether a POLYCET rank of 17,000 should lead to a diploma. A reply said the rank was enough for a government polytechnic seat.
