Ques. How much should I score in CUSAT CAT to get a rank under 1000?

● Top Answer By Praver Katyal on 05 Apr 21

Ans. Firstly what you may want to know is that there cannot be a defined answer to your question because of the wavy nature of ranks each year. If you maintain an average score of 325, then you can surely get a rank under 1000.  If you stay in Kerala, then a rank below 1000 will help you get any branch of your choice, only the Fire and Safety branch will still not be available.  In the CUSAT CAT exam for engineering, only your rank is published, the marks are not published. In 2015, the closing rank for SOE was 4793. In 2016, it was 2915 for the general category for BTCE1F. Here is a table highlighting the cut-offs of previous years- Institute Rank School of Engineering, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Ernakulam 1494 Department of Ship Technology, CUSAT, Ernakulam 150 School of Engineering, CUSAT, Ernakulam 2388 Cochin University College of Engineering, Kuttanad 3823 Cochin University College of Engineering, Kuttanad (Civil Engineering) 5195 The ranks will vary depending on the number of students appearing for the exam and the difficulty level of the exams.Read more

The important points are as follows: Reservation is given to candidates that belong to Kerala SC/ST community. 3% seats are for physically challenged candidates that have at least 40% disability. A quota for candidates who opt for higher education is also there. Reservation is also different in terms of different courses.  A clear description is as follows: MBA 50% seats are reserved for people who have certain work experience of more than 3 years. MPhil 50% seats for people having 2 years experience MCA 2 seats for people having 3 years of experience Oceanography seats /Atmospheric services 2 seats Computer/IT courses 5 seats Naval candidates. 15 seats J&K candidates 2 seats The reservation is quite diversified and is present in all courses in some form or other. Ques. How can i score good marks in CUSAT CAT?

● Top Answer By Kavya Singh on 11 Feb 21

Ans. CUSAT CAT has an easy to moderate level of difficulty in its question set every year. If you have an interest in the School of Engineering at CUSAT and from a General category, then you need a rank within 5000. Getting a rank in between 5000 is not at all difficult.  The division of question in CUSAT CAT is given below. Subject Number of Questions Mathematics 125 Physics 75 Chemistry 50 There are a few methods that can be helpful for the preparation of CUSAT CAT and some of them are listed below. The Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry textbooks of CBSE for 11th and 12th should be followed thoroughly to clear basic concepts. There are several previous year CAT papers available in the market easily. Those can be practiced for getting an idea about the level of difficulty. Solving the papers would be an excellent practice. If it is not followed due to lack of MCQ solving skills, checking the solution, learning the answers, and memorizing can still give some aid for preparation.  There are several questions repeated every year and can be solved easily. These small points will help you to fetch a rank in between 5000 at CAT easily, which is usually enough for an engineering seat.  It is must be noted that CUSAT is not the best-ranked college in Kerala. You can look for better institutes like IITs/NITs or other prime colleges in the state.Read more
