    Karnataka PGCET Eligibility is defined by KEA. The basic criteria mandatory for a PGCET aspirant is to hold a Bachelor’s Degree (minimum 3 years) from a recognized university. KPGCET 2020 exam is scheduled to be held on August 09, 2020.

    The state level examination or Karnataka PGCET is conducted to offer admissions to part-time or full-time MBA/ MCA/ M.E./ M. Tech / M. Arch courses. In case, the candidate fails to meet any of the defined standards, his/her application is liable to be rejected. Read on to know more about Karnataka PGCET Eligibility, course-wise requirements and registration procedure.

    Karnataka PGCET Eligibility Criteria

    Karnataka Examination Authority has clearly prescribed course-wise eligibility standards for candidates willing to apply for the examination. The eligibility is segregated as per a candidate’s domicile, academic requirement and other factors. Listed below are the same:

    KPGCET Eligibility: MBA Program

    MBA admissions are offered as full time or part programs. The eligibility for each type is as follows:

    Full-Time MBA course

    • A candidate must have passed recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum of 3 years’ duration or equivalent examination.
    • A minimum aggregate of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects including languages in all the years of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to MBA courses.
    • For SC/ ST and Category-I of Karnataka, the aggregate of 45% marks in Qualifying exam is required.

    ​​Part Time MBA courses

    • The standards for this type remains the same as mentioned above.
    • In Addition, candidate must have worked for at least 3 years after obtaining the degree as of July 31, 2020, in an establishment.
    • The candidate organization must be situated within the radial distance of 40 km from the Institution in which candidate seeks admission

    KPGCET Eligibility: MCA Program

    Aspirants can take admissions to full-time or part-time MCA Programs. Also, Karnataka and Non-Karnataka candidates are also offered admissions to 2nd year lateral entry to MCA course. 

    Full/ Part-time Course

    • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised institution or equivalent examination.
    • Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science/ Computer Applications/ Computer Programming/ Business Mathematics/ Business Statistics any one of the optional subjects are mandatory at the UG level.
    • A minimum aggregate of 50% marks (45% for SC/ ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates) taken together in all the years of the Degree Examination.
    • In respect of candidate who has studied and passed one of the subjects specified above in Pre-University Course with 50% of marks in that subject shall also be considered for admission.

    Lateral Entry to 2nd year MCA 

    • Bachelor’s Degree of minimum of 3 years’ duration examination in BCA, B.Sc. (I.T. / Computer Science) with Mathematics at 10 + 2 level or at Graduate Level.
    • A minimum aggregate of 50% marks taken together in all the years of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to MCA courses
    • For SC/ ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates, 45% of marks in Qualifying Examination.
    Note: There are no Part-time courses offered for MCA degree.

    KPGCET Eligibility: M.E./ M. Tech / M. Arch 

    Full-Time M.E./ M. Tech / M. Arch Courses

    • A candidate with valid GATE score. They are given first preference for admissions to the course.
    • A candidate who has passed qualifying examination or equivalent examination as prescribed by the Competent Authority.
    • Also, a minimum aggregate of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects of all the years/semesters of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to the program.
    • For SC/ ST and Category-I candidates, the aggregate of 45% is required.

    Part-Time M.E./ M. Tech/ M. Arch Courses

    • A candidate who has passed qualifying examination or equivalent examination as prescribed by the Competent Authority.
    • Also, obtained a minimum aggregate of 50% marks (45% for SC/ ST and Category-I) taken together in all the subjects of all the years/semesters of the Degree Examination are eligible for admissions.
    • In Addition, candidate must have worked for at least 3 years after obtaining the degree as of July 31, 2020, in and establishment.
    • The candidate organization must be situated within the radial distance of 40 km from the Institution in which candidate seeks admission. However, the employer has to fill up the NOC duly signed by the Qualified Authority.
    Note:Rounding off aggregate percent is not permitted under any circumstances.

    Admission to the Part Time M. Tech Quality Improvement Program (QIP)

    • A Candidate who has passed B.E./ B. Tech examination (in the relevant field) of VTU or any other recognized University/ Institution and have obtained a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (No relaxation in this case)
    • Candidate must have experience of at least One academic year, and
    • Candidates working place shall be within 100kms radius from the institution where they seek admission.
    • Not only a candidate who has passed the qualifying exam with the minimum requirement of marks is eligible but also the candidate appearing for the qualifying examination and expecting the results is eligible to apply for Karnataka PGCET 2020.

    The aggregate percentage of marks of the course of the qualifying examination shall be calculated as follows:

    Karnataka PGCET 2020 Eligibility Clauses

    Candidates must satisfy one of the following eligibility guidelines in order to be treated as Karnataka Candidates. Each condition is specified in the clause and is referred by a code. Each clause if followed by the set of documents to be produced during seat allocation process in order to support the claim. The candidates who do not satisfy any of the clauses/criteria given below shall be treated as not- Karnataka candidate and will be eligible to select only the seats surrendered by the management if any.

    Eligibility Guidelines for MBA and MCA:

    1. The candidate must have studied and passed in one or more Government or Government recognized educational institutions located in the State of Karnataka for at least SEVEN academic years (from 1st standard to Qualifying Examination) either continuously or in a broken period as on 1st July of the year in which the Entrance Test is held.
    2. The candidate must have appeared and passed either SSLC / 10th standard or 2nd PUC / 12th standard examination from a Government recognized institutions located in Karnataka State.
    3. The candidate must have studied and passed the qualifying examination within the State of Karnataka from an Educational Institution run or recognized by the State Government.
    4. Either of the candidates’ parents should have studied in Government recognized institutions in Karnataka for a minimum period of 7 years.
    5. Son or daughter of ex-servicemen who at the time of joining the defense service had declared a place in Karnataka as his hometown, proof of such domicile should be obtained and produced from the “Deputy Director, Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement.
    6. Further, the candidate should have passed the Q. E. from a University or Board or any other institution located anywhere in India.

    CheckKarnataka PGCET Reservation 

    Eligibility Guidelines for M.E./M. Tech:

    • The candidate must have studied and passed in one or more Government or Government recognized educational institutions located in the State of Karnataka for at least 7 academic years (from 1st standard to Qualifying Examination) either continuously or in the broken period as on 1st July of the year in which the Entrance Test is held.
    • The candidate must have appeared and passed either SSLC / 10th standard or 2nd PUC / 12th standard examination from a Government recognized institutions located in Karnataka State.
    • The candidate must have studied and passed the qualifying examination within the State of Karnataka from an Educational Institution run or recognized by the State Government.
    • Either of the candidates’ parents should have studied in Government recognized institutions in Karnataka for a minimum period of 7 years
    • A candidate or a parent of the candidate has resided in Karnataka for a minimum period of 7 years.

    I have done my BE from VTU, from 1 to 6th semester i have percentage above 60% in first attempt but in 7th sem 51.11% and in 8th sem 49.47%. I want to apply for PGCET since it says one need min 50% in all sem . am i eligible for PGCET?

    Hi Narayan, you are eligible for this exam as the organization asks for an aggregate of 50% in graduation and not in individual semesters.

    Hi Prashant, yes, students from other states can also apply for PGCET but preference would be given to the Karnataka students at the time of admission.

    I am living in kerala and I finished my sslc, puc in kerala and I am doing my Degree in karnataka my parents are studied in kerala.. I know the 7 years may be the problem, I studied in kannada medium can I have any chance for write PGCET in Karnataka...???

    Hi Vaibhav, date for availability of application form was May 21, 2019 (tentative). But somehow, date has been extended and no update in date has been done yet. You will be notified with the new application dates as soon as it gets confirmed from official website.

    hi, my qualifying degree is BBM bt in Karnataka pgcet application is found as bcom after my final submission, later on application edit I was not able to change the degree option.. I got even my pgcet rank and waiting for document verification...plz do tel me whether it will be a problem for me at document verification?? Wil I be rejected?? What should I do? Plz reply

    my first attempt B.E (civil) overall aggregate is 49.19% and after when considering the second or clearing attempts marks the aggregate is 53.7%.. for my mtech in vtu which aggregate should I mention , and Am I eligible for mtech under vtu?? And last one ... In my resume
