Karnataka PGCET 2021 detailed Notification is yet to be released and has been delayed due to the COVID 19 crises. Karnataka PGCET 2021 is expected to be scheduled for October 13, 2021. Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) conducts Karnataka PGCET every year which is a state-level entrance test for admission to MBA/ MCA/ ME/ MTech/ MArch programmes. Karnataka PGCET Registration is expected to begin from Sep 16, 2021.

These courses are offered by Karnataka’s Government / University/ Private Aided / Private Un-Aided professional educational institutions. Total 178 institutes in Karnataka participate in Karnataka PGCET for PG admission after qualifying this common entrance test. Candidates can also get a lateral entry for admission in MCA programme. Karnataka PGCET 2021 General Eligibility criteria

  • Nationality: Candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • Domicile:Candidates from the home state must have a domicile of Karnataka for getting reservation.
  • Other State Candidates: Candidates from other states can also apply for Karnataka PGCET but they will not be eligible for getting any reservation.

Karnataka PGCET 2021 Reservation

  • According to Karnataka PGCET 2021 Reservation Policy, only candidates of Karnataka can claim for reservation.
  • The reserved categories are SC, ST and Category-I for Karnataka candidates.
  • Candidates from Hyderabad-Karnataka region can claim for reservation if they produce an eligibility certificate from the concerned Assistant Commissioner.
  • Reservation for Ex-Defence Special Category (Code- U): Ward of ex-servicemen can get a certificate showing the home address of the parent issued by the Joint Director / Deputy Director of the concerned district and countersigned by the Director, Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement, Bangalore. This reservation will not be applicable for M.E./M.Tech/M.Arch courses.
  • Reservation for PwD candidates: Candidates who have 40% or more disability are reserved for 3% of total seats in Government and Government Aided colleges.
Application form

Karnataka PGCET 2021 Application form

General information

  • Karnataka PGCET 2021 Application form fill up will be started from the third week of May 2021.
  • The last date to fill up the form will be the first week of June 2021.
  • Karnataka PGCET 2021 form details will be the candidate’s name, course for which they are applying, date of birth and other personal details.
  • Candidates must upload the scanned images of their photograph, signature and thumb impression in JPEG format.
  • Candidates must fill details in the form correctly because there will be no chance for correction after the final submission of the form.
  • Multiple applications will be rejected. So a single application form for a single candidate must be submitted.
  • Students having a GATE qualified score can also apply for M.Arch/ M.Tech/ M.E admission. Candidates who apply through GATE scores need not appear for the entrance test.
  • Payment of Karnataka PGCET 2021 Application Fee should be done by generating a challan.
  • After completion of the application process, candidates must print the application form and payment proof which must be kept for further references.

  • The exam will be conducted in 12 centres across Karnataka.
  •  Candidates must fill in their preference of cities in the application form.
  • The allotment of the exam centre to the candidate will be done on the basis of preference mentioned in the application form.

  • Candidates should know that KEA has the right to change the exam centre on the basis of the availability of seats.

Karnataka PGCET 2021 Admit Card

  • Karnataka PGCET admit card must be kept carefully because it is an entry ticket to the exam hall.
  • Karnataka PGCET Admit Card will be required at the time of counselling and admission process.
  • The Admit card can be downloaded online from the official website.
  • Karnataka PGCET admit card will have the personal details of the candidate such as name, date of birth, category, gender along with exam center address, date, duration and time of the exam.
  • Along with the Admit card the candidate must carry any one valid Identity Card like College Identity Card, Bus Pass, Driving License, Passport, Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID.

  • In the Karnataka PGCET 2021 Seat Allotment process, the seat matrix will occur according to the government.

  • After the last date and time fixed for entering the options, the seats will be distributed on merit based priority entered by the candidates and followed by Karnataka PGCET 2021 Reservation Policy.

Karnataka PGCET 2021 Seat Allotment Process will be done in the following way

  1. For ME / M. Tech / M. Arch Courses
    1. First seat is allotted to valid gate score candidates. The reservation is applicable only for Karnataka’s candidates and the same is not applicable for Non-Karnataka GATE rank holders
    2. Non-Karnataka GATE rank holders will considered under Open or General Category
    3. After GATE rank holders’ seat distribution is finished, among the remains seats of General category, 90% of the seats are reserved by Karnataka Candidates and other 10% seats left for Non-Karnataka Candidates
    4. PGCET 2021 allotment of seats for all GATE candidates will occur according to GATE Rank List
    5. The vacant seats after allotment for the GATE candidates will be offered to candidates who are eligible for PGCET 2021
  2. For MCA Lateral Entry & 1st year Course
    1. MCA Lateral Entry seats for all reserved categories,allocation for Ex-Defence will occur first, then for General Merit students.
    2. For MCA Lateral Entry rank holders including the candidates, seat allocation for the Physically Disabled and ME / M. Tech courses will occur according to their ranks.
  3. For MBA Course
    1. MBA seats Entry seats for all reserved categories,allocation for Ex-Defence will occur first, then for General Merit students.
    2. For MCA Lateral Entry rank holders including the candidates, seat allocation for the Physically Disabled and ME / M. Tech courses will occur according to their ranks.

Karnataka PGCET 2021 Merit List

Karnataka PGCET 2021 Merit List will be prepared by candidates’ qualifying marks according to the predefined marks set by the Karnataka Examinations Authority.

  • The merit of the candidate will be determined for each course separately.
  • If the merit of two candidates is the same, then it is calculated on the basis of the marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying examination.
  • The higher marks will get first preference. If there are still any clashes, then the elder candidate will be preferred.
  • For M.E./ M.Tech/ M.Arch courses, a merit list will be prepared on the basis of a valid GATE score for GATE qualified candidates. Then the selected candidates’ preference will be based on their employment in government organizations/ public sector/ private organizations.
  • All non-GATE candidates need to appear for Karnataka PGCET 2021.

Well yes, the last date to apply for Karnataka PGCET 2021 was in the 1st week of June, 2021. The registration procedure started from the 3rd week of May, 2021 respectively. You can visit the official website i.e. kea.kar.nic.in for details about the application dates. It was supposed to commence form 3rd week of May 2021 till 1st week of June 2021. Yes, final year appearing students of the qualifying exam will also be eligible to apply for the exam on condition that they will secure the minimum aggregate required once the results are declared. The eligibility criteria will vary slightly for different courses.

At the time of counselling and final seat allotment, marks in the written test will only be considered and not the marks at UG level.

No, the exam will only be conducted in different parts of the state of Karnataka and not outside the region. It is a state level entrance test conducted annually for admission to PG courses like M.Tech, ME, MBA, MCA, M.Arch etc. The exam is tentatively scheduled to be conducted on 1st week of July 2021.
