MET 2027: Registration Open, Exam Dates, Eligibility, Syllabus and Cutoff

MET (Manipal Entrance Test) 2027 is a national-level, computer-based entrance examination conducted by MAHE (Manipal Academy of Higher Education) for admission to B.Tech programs at its campuses across India. The exam is held in two phases every year — Phase 1 in April and Phase 2 in May — and you can appear in one or both; MAHE takes only your best score for the final merit rank. As of October 2026, the MET 2027 registration portal has reportedly been activated at manipal.edu, though the official notification with confirmed dates is still awaited.

• Registration: The MET 2027 registration portal reportedly went live at manipal.edu around October 10, 2026. Phase 1 registration is expected to remain open until around March 31, 2027 — last year the deadline was March 23, 2026 (extended once).
• Phase 1 Exam: MET 2027 Phase 1 is expected in the second week of April 2027. Last year it was held on April 13–14, 2026. Slot booking typically opens 2–3 weeks before the exam date.
• Phase 2 Exam: MET 2027 Phase 2 is expected in the fourth week of May 2027. Last year it was held on May 23–24, 2026. You can appear in both phases; MAHE uses only the better score for rank calculation.
• Merit List and Counselling: The combined merit list is expected in early June 2027. Last year it was released on June 8, 2026, with counselling rounds beginning shortly after and running through late July.

What is MET 2027?

MET stands for Manipal Entrance Test. MAHE (Manipal Academy of Higher Education), a deemed university based in Manipal, Karnataka, conducts it for B.Tech admissions at its four engineering campuses across India. The exam is fully computer-based and is one of the few private university entrance tests that runs two separate phases in a single academic year, giving you a second chance to improve your score.

More than 1 lakh candidates appear for MET every year to compete for around 2,700–2,800 B.Tech seats across all MAHE campuses. One of the most important things to know about MET is its 50:50 composite rank formula: MAHE assigns equal weightage to your MET score and your Class 12 PCM board marks when calculating the merit rank. This means your board exam performance matters just as much as your MET score.

How Many Candidates Appear for MET?

MET is one of the most popular private university engineering entrance exams in India. Registrations have grown steadily over the past few years as MIT Manipal’s national reputation has strengthened and more students look for alternatives to JEE-based admissions.

MET 2027 Important Dates

MAHE has not released the official MET 2027 schedule yet. The dates below are expected based on last year’s MET 2026 timeline. Check manipal.edu regularly for the official notification once MAHE publishes it.

MET 2027 Eligibility Criteria

You must check the MET 2027 eligibility criteria carefully before filling the application form. All requirements — academic, age, and nationality — must be met at the time of admission. Applying without meeting the eligibility can lead to cancellation of candidature during counselling or document verification.

Educational Qualification

• You must have passed Class 12 (10+2) or an equivalent examination from a recognized board (CBSE, ICSE, any State Board, IB, Cambridge, etc.).
• You must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as compulsory subjects in Class 12.
• You need to score at least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics combined to be eligible for B.Tech admission at MAHE.
• Candidates currently in Class 12 (appearing in the 2027 board exams) can also apply. They must submit their final marksheet at the time of document verification during counselling.

Age Requirement

• You must be at least 17 years old as on December 31, 2027, at the time of admission.
• There is no upper age limit for MET. Any candidate who meets the academic qualification can apply regardless of age.

Nationality

• Indian nationals, NRI (Non-Resident Indian) candidates, and foreign nationals can all apply for MET 2027.
• NRI and foreign national applicants come under a separate admissions quota with a different fee structure. Check the MAHE NRI/International admissions policy on the official website.

You must score at least 50% in PCM combined in Class 12. Even a very high MET score cannot override less than 50% PCM marks — MAHE will not grant B.Tech admission if you fall short of this academic threshold.

Branch-specific Eligibility Notes

• For most B.Tech branches, the PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Math) requirement applies.
• For Biotechnology and related programmes at some campuses, PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) may be accepted. Check the specific branch requirements in the official MET 2027 notification once available.

MET 2027 Application Process and Fee

The MET 2027 application process is fully online at apply.manipal.edu. There is no offline mode. You must complete all steps carefully to avoid rejection of your application at a later stage.

Steps to Apply for MET 2027

• Step 1 — New Registration: Go to apply.manipal.edu and create a new account using your email address and mobile number. You will receive login credentials on your registered email.
• Step 2 — Fill the Application Form: Log in and enter your personal details, academic information, and contact details. Choose your preferred B.Tech programme and campus.
• Step 3 — Upload Documents: Upload a recent passport-size photograph and scanned signature in the required file format and size as specified in the official notification.
• Step 4 — Select Programmes and Campuses: You can apply for multiple B.Tech programmes and select multiple campuses in order of preference. Review your choices before proceeding to payment.
• Step 5 — Pay the Application Fee: Pay the fee online through net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI. Keep a copy of the payment receipt.
• Step 6 — Submit and Download Confirmation: Submit the completed form and download the confirmation page. Print a copy and keep it for future reference during counselling.

MET 2027 Application Fee

The MET 2027 application fee is non-refundable. Once paid, it will not be returned under any circumstances — even if you choose not to appear for the exam.

The exact fee for 2027 will be confirmed in the official MAHE notification. For MET 2026, the total fee was approximately Rs. 2,000 (Rs. 800 registration + Rs. 1,200 test fee).

MET 2027 Admit Card

MAHE releases the MET admit card a few days before each phase of the exam. You can download it only after completing slot booking for your exam city and date. Without completing slot booking, the admit card will not be generated. You must carry a printed copy of the admit card along with a valid government-issued photo ID to the exam centre on the day of the exam.

Expected Admit Card Dates for MET 2027

• Phase 1 Admit Card: Expected around April 10–13, 2027. In MET 2026, the Phase 1 admit card was available from April 10, 2026.
• Phase 2 Admit Card: Expected a few days before the Phase 2 exam, around May 20–23, 2027.

You will not be allowed to enter the MET 2027 exam centre without a valid admit card. Carry a government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN card, passport, or voter ID) alongside the printed admit card. Mobile phones and electronic devices are not permitted inside the exam hall.

Top Colleges Accepting MET 2027 Score

MET score is accepted exclusively at MAHE-affiliated engineering institutes. There are four campuses where you can get B.Tech admission through MET 2027. MIT Manipal (the main campus) is the flagship and most competitive. The other three campuses — MIT Bengaluru, MUJ, and SMIT — offer good options for candidates with moderate to lower ranks.

MIT Manipal (main campus) is consistently ranked among the top 50 private engineering colleges in India and is the first choice for most MET candidates. CSE, AI/ML, and Data Science programmes there have the tightest cutoffs. The campus also offers strong industry connections, research opportunities, and placement infrastructure.

MIT Bengaluru is a newer campus that follows the same academic framework as the main campus. It is a good option for candidates who want to study in Bengaluru’s tech ecosystem. Cutoffs at MIT Bengaluru are lower than at MIT Manipal, so candidates with composite ranks in the 8,000–15,000 range can still access CSE or ECE here.

Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) and SMIT are good options for candidates with ranks above 15,000. SMIT also offers scholarship and fee concession opportunities for eligible candidates. Both campuses follow MAHE’s academic standards and curriculum.

How to Prepare for MET 2027

MET 2027 preparation should start as early as possible — ideally alongside your Class 12 board preparation. Since the MET syllabus is fully aligned with the Class 11–12 CBSE curriculum, your board and MET preparation can run in parallel. The main difference is that MET questions test deeper understanding and application of concepts, not just textbook definitions.

Subject-wise MET 2027 Preparation Strategy

• Mathematics (80 marks — highest weightage): Mathematics is the most critical section for a high MET score. Focus on Calculus (differentiation and integration), Coordinate Geometry (circles and conic sections), Vectors, Probability, and Algebra. Practice NAT questions heavily since there is no negative marking for numerical answers — attempt every NAT question even if partially unsure.
• Physics (60 marks): Mechanics, Electrostatics, and Optics are consistently high-weightage areas in MET. Questions are predominantly numerical. Solve as many problems as possible from each chapter, and focus on understanding derivations rather than just memorizing formulas.
• Chemistry (60 marks): Balance preparation across Physical, Organic, and Inorganic Chemistry. Physical Chemistry numericals (Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Solutions) are very important. For Organic Chemistry, understanding reaction mechanisms matters more than memorizing outcomes. NCERT is the most important resource for both Inorganic and Organic Chemistry.
• English (40 marks — easiest scoring section): Spend 20–30 minutes daily on grammar exercises and reading comprehension practice. MET English is straightforward — consistent daily practice should allow you to score 30+ out of 40 marks in this section with little difficulty.

MET 2027 Study Tips

• Start with NCERT books for all subjects. Chemistry and Physics in MET are heavily NCERT-aligned in terms of concepts.
• Solve MET previous year question papers from at least the last 4–5 years to understand the question format, topic distribution, and level of difficulty.
• Take at least one full-length mock test per week to build speed and accuracy. MET gives only 2 hours for 60 questions — an average of 2 minutes per question, and there is no room to linger.
• Never neglect your Class 12 board preparation. Because of the 50:50 composite formula, a higher board percentage can significantly boost your rank even with a moderate MET score.
• Register for both Phase 1 and Phase 2. If Phase 1 does not go as planned, you have 5–6 weeks to revise weak areas and improve in Phase 2. MAHE uses only the best attempt.
• Attempt every NAT question in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics — there is no negative marking for wrong NAT answers, so there is nothing to lose by trying.
• In the final 6–8 weeks before each exam phase, focus entirely on revision and full-length mock tests. Avoid starting entirely new topics in this window.
