Example From Class 7 Chapter 4 Simple Equations

Ques. Write the following statement in equation form”

  1. 'The sum of three times x and 11 is 32'
  2. 7 when subtracted from y is 3.

Ans. 

  1. The given unknown number is x.

As per the question, the sum of two numbers, i.e. x and 11 is 32.

Representing this in the form of a simple equation we get,

x+11=32

Therefore, x= 32-11

x=21

  1. The given unknown number is y

As per the question when 7 is subtracted from y, the result is 3.

Representing this in the form of an equation we get,

y-7=3

Therefore, y=3+7

y=10
