Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI) has begun registration for PhD Program, helmed by Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) for 2021-22 academic session.
Candidates interested to apply for the PhD program can submit an online application on or before November 15, 2020.
Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI), is a research institute of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) leveraging leather and allied sectors in India.

AcSIR PhD Admission 2020: Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility criteria for PhD (Engineering) and Sponsored PhD (Engineering) are as follows:
Master’s in Engineering / Technology after 4-year engineering/ technology or 4/5 year science degree; or an integrated minimum-5-year M.Tech degree; or equivalent.
Candidates need to comply with any one of the following:
- Holds national-level fellowship ( NET JRF) justifiable at CSIR institutes
- Meets conditions required for eligibility for the CSIR-SRF/ INSPIRE fellowship
- Meets conditions of AcSIR for Project Assistants
- Meeting conditions standardised by AcSIR for industry-sponsored* students
According to AcSIR rules, Project Assistants, Senior Research Fellows, Group-IV Scientists and Group-III Technical Staff of CSIR can also apply for admission PhD in Engineering.
Eligibility criteria for the IDDP (Integrated M.Tech-Ph.D) Program are as follows:
Candidates need to complete a 4-year UG degree in Engineering or Science (BE/B.Tech/BS), or even a 5-year integrated degree in Science (MSc), or equivalent.
Candidates need to comply with any one of the following:
- Awarded a national-level fellowship (such as NET JRF) for CSIR institutes
- Meets conditions for CSIR-GATE-JRF
- Meets conditions for INSPIRE fellowship
- Meets conditions stipulated by AcSIR for Project Assistant
AcSIR has opened the application window for both regular and sponsored PhD candidates.

PhD (Sciences) and Sponsored PhD (Sciences): Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for regular PhD candidates are as follows:
- Bachelor's in Engineering/ Technology, Medicine or Master's degree in Science
- Valid National level fellowship (JRF/ SRF of various funding agencies: CSIR, UGC, DBT, DST etc.) or equivalent fellowship as of INSPIRE, RGNF.
- Project Assistants, Senior Research Fellows, Group-IV Scientists and Group-III Technical Staff of CSIR are also eligible to apply (accordant to AcSIR rules).
The eligibility criteria for sponsored PhD candidates are as follows:
- Postgraduate in Science with sponsors from Industry/Academic or Research Institutes with an acquired academic leave and financial support for the program.
- Applicants who receive degree results in percentage should use the formula for CGPA=(Percentage + 5) /10. Candidates with at least 95%, can enter 10 CGPA in the Online Form.
AcSIR PhD Admission 2020: Selection Process
AcSIR admission authority will intimidate short-listed candidates who will be required to appear for the Test and/or Interview at designated centres on stipulated dates. Performance at the test and interview will determine their selection.
AcSIR PhD Admission 2020: How to Apply?
Interested candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria can apply online from 15th October to 15th November 2020 at AcSIR Online-Admission Portal: http://acsir.emli.in/.
AcSIR Admission process will be held in two phases.
Sign-Up phase:
In the Sign-Up phase, after successfully signing up in AcSIR Online Admission Portal, candidates will receive an auto-generated email on your registered email-id. The email will include login credentials and links for completing form fill-up process.
Online Application Form Phase:
On filling the application form, an AcSIR Application Number (AAN) will be generated for future correspondence between applicant and AcSIR.
