DU Cutoff 2020: Second List to Release on October 17; Check College-Wise Trends, Process of Changing Colleges

In a recent notification by the Delhi University, it was declared that the admission process through the Second Cut off list will be conducted from October 19 to 21, 2020. Unlike previous years, this year’s admission process had been delayed due to the widespread COVID-19.

DU Admission 2020: First Cut Off List Overview

This year’s First Cutoff List has depicted a hike from last year. Many top DU colleges have increased the cutoffs for UG courses, making it more competitive for students to obtain admission.

Hindu College

Hindu College has increased the cut-offs to 99%+ in BSc (Hons) Mathematics, BSc (Hons) Physics and BSc (Hons) Statistics. For BA Economics, the cut-off has increased to 99.25%, a hike from last year.

Shri Ram College of Commerce

Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) is among the most sought after DU colleges for admission. However, the cut off has remained high with 99% for Economics and 99.5 for Commerce Streams.

Hansraj College

Hansraj College has increased this year’s cutoff to 99.25%. The cutoffs for Economics and English have increased by 0.25% and 0.75% respectively. The cut off for Hindi has also increased to 90%, 4% more than the previous year. For Science programs, Cutoffs for Physics and Chemistry have increased by 1% and 0.66% respectively.

Sri Aurobindo College

As compared to last year, Sri Aurobindo College has increased the cutoff for B.Com (Hons.), B.Com and B.A. (Hons.) Hindi by 1%. The cutoff for courses like B.A.(Hons.) English and B.Sc. (Hons.) Electronics remain unchanged. Meanwhile, B.A.(Hons.) Pol.Science has experienced a rise of 2%.

Lady Sri Ram College

Lady Shri Ram College for Women has maintained a record of 100% cut-off for BA Honors in Economics, Political Science and Psychology.

Satyawati College

The cutoffs for Arts and Commerce remain are the same as last year. B.A. (Hons.) History cutoff is at 89%, with a 3% increase from last year. The cutoff for B.A. (Hons.) Hindi dropped by 1%. Girl candidates seeking admission in Satyawati College will be offered a relaxation of 1% in the best scores for four subjects.

Miranda House

Miranda House has increased the average cutoffs from last year, with the cutoff for BA (H) English reaching 99% in the first cut off list. This would make it challenging for many students to obtain admission in the college.

DU Admission 2020: Process of Changing Colleges

Step 1: Withdrawal of the Previous Admission

Candidates will be required to withdraw their previous admission from any of the affiliated colleges they have enrolled with. In order to do so, they will need to download the cancellation form from the official website and enter all the details.

Step 2: Cancel the Fee Payment

Following the withdrawal of admission, candidates will be required to pay the mandatory admission cancellation/withdrawal fee. A nominal fee of Rs. 1000.00 would be levied for each withdrawal.

After this, the fee paid by the candidate would be refunded in his/her wallet and the same would be adjusted in the subsequent course/college where the candidates are seeking admission. A sum of Rs 1000 will be deducted during the withdrawal process.

Step 3: Download the Confirmation Page

Following the cancellation of fee payment, candidates will be to download the confirmation page.

Step 4: Select New College and Course

Candidates will be to select a new college and course after step 3 by logging into the official website of DU.

Applicants will be required to select the college and course depending upon their choice, provided that they meet cut off requirements.

It is to be noted that candidates will be able to choose only one course in one college provided they satisfy the cut-off of the respective college for the selected courses.

Step 5: Document Verification and payment of fees

The process of document verification would be conducted during the time of admission. Once the document verification process is completed, candidates can claim the seats in the respective college by paying the fee.
