Delhi University has commenced its new academic session for its UG courses with more than 64,000 students. The new batch has 47% male students and 53% female students.
New Delhi: Delhi University has begun its 2023 academic session for students pursuing their undergraduate degrees from August 16, 2023. The new session has commenced with more than 64,000 students, of which 47% are male and 53% are female.
The new session for DU UG courses has commenced with the Vice Chancellor, Yogesh Singh, conveying his wishes to the students. He also revealed the second round granted a total of 1,05,426 students admission.

Yogesh Singh also mentioned that a total of 64,288 students have confirmed their admission till August 15, after the second round of the DU CSAS Admission 2023. He also talked about gender diversity and informed that more than half of the seats have been secured by female students. Apart from that, he also addressed that DU is a completely “ragging-free university”
Haneet Gandhi, Dean of Admissions, also highlighted that amongst the applications received, DU Affiliated Colleges such as Dyal Singh College, Hansraj College, Gargi College, Ramjas College, and Kirori Mal College were the top 5 choices during the Round 1. However, Swami Shraddhanand College, Deshbandhu College, and Zakir Hussain College were the top preferred colleges in the Round 2.
Haneet Gandhi also discussed the top 5 UG courses which were BCom (Hons), BCom (Program), BA Political Science (Hons), BA Economics (Hons), and BA English (Hons). She also mentioned that approximately 8,000 students were able to secure admission to their first preferred course and college, whereas 5,500 students secured it in their second preference.
