The Gujarat Board of State Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has decided to postpone GSEB board exams 2021 for class 10 and 12 by two months.
Usually, the Gujarat Board Exams 2021 are held in the first week of March but due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the board has decided to conduct it in May 2021.
Around 16 Lakh students are supposed to appear for class 10 and 12 Gujarat Board exams. The postponement of two months will give more time to the students to prepare for the exam.
Out of this, close to 10 lakh students will appear for Gujarat class 10 exams and the remaining 6.3 lakh will be appearing for Gujarat class 12 exams.

Due to the lockdown situation, the academic session has extended. The state board has announced a 21 day Diwali vacation earlier this year.
The post-Diwali session will be for 155 days extended by 40 days by the Gujarat board. The session generally happens for 115-120 days.
GSEB Chairperson A J Shah announced that the extension decision is taken keeping in mind the larger interest of the students.

Gujarat Education minister also believes that the extended second season will help students to keep up with the study and prepare well for the Gujarat board exams. The minister also confirms that there wouldn't be any change in the exam format.
The Gujarat Board exams 2021 for 10th and 12th will be held in the same format in May 2021.
