New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has launched a Master of Technology (MTech) in Energy Transition and Sustainability program for its newly inaugurated Abu Dhabi campus. Interested candidates can apply for admission till November 27, 2023.

In addition, IIT Delhi and the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) have collaborated with ADNOC to launch a scholarship for students enrolled in its inaugural MTech program at the forthcoming Abu Dhabi campus.

Informing about the MTech program, the official statement reads, “The proposed ET&S master’s, scheduled to start in January 2024, aims to prepare professionals and scholars of the energy industry and associated sectors by offering a comprehensive and multifaceted understanding of technology, public policy, and environmental sustainability issues in the energy sector”.

“The master’s program will provide a robust foundation on technologies and policies related to the energy transition. It will also allow candidates to specialise in two areas which are ‘Technologies for Decarbonisation’ and ‘Economics, Policy and Planning for Energy Transition’, it added.

IIT Delhi MTech in Energy Transition Program 2024: Eligibility, Selection Process

The MTech in Energy Transition and Sustainability degree will be offered to eligible candidates in January 2024. The program covers a comprehensive and multifaceted understanding of energy technology, public policy, and environmental sustainability issues, with the aim to prepare individuals in the energy industry and associated sectors.

The MTech program is open for candidates with a four-year bachelor's degree in any engineering area such as physical science, chemical science, environmental science, or earth science or a master's degree in any of the science subjects. Selection of applicants will be done through a rigorous selection process, which will follow IIT Delhi’s stringent academic standards. 

As a part of this program, candidates will be offered full sponsorship which will cover their fees and other associated expenses. Professionals and interested candidates can submit their applications for admission at abudhabi.iitd.ac.in by November 27, 2023.

Scholarships at IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi Campus 

As a part of a groundbreaking collaboration with ADNOC and ADEK, IIT Delhi will offer up to 15 scholarship opportunities in the master's program offered at IIT Delhi - Abu Dhabi's campus in the UAE capital. Additionally, the institute will offer 10 more fully supported scholarship opportunities for selected students from India, United Arab Emirates, and other countries.

Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Ahmed Sultan Alshoaibi, Acting Executive Director of the Higher Education Sector at ADEK said, “Together with ADNOC and IIT Delhi, we are embarking on a journey that will revolutionize the energy sector's leadership landscape. With plans of expanding its scope to encompass a diverse range of programs in the future, this partnership sets an inspiring precedent for innovation and advancement on a global scale”.

Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Director of IIT Delhi added, “We are excited about the unwavering support we have received from ADEK, along with the invaluable partnership of industry leader ADNOC, who have joined forces with us to provide comprehensive sponsorship to our students. We also expect this program to become a cornerstone of the research and development in the space of renewable energy and energy transition, which we expect to become one of the focus areas of the Abu Dhabi campus”.
