An official statement by IIT Madras entails, the first day of summer placement drive for 2020 was held online. The drive saw participation from acclaimed global and Indian organisations through a virtual conference.
IIT Madras students of Class of 2021, received 152 offers while Microsft stood out as the leading recruiter extending as many as 21 offers.
Earlier, the institute conducted three rounds of surveys for students and two rounds with recruiters to understand the process of an online recruitment drive.

IIT Madras Placements: Summer Internship Drive Offers and Stipend Trends
With 152 offers coming their way on the first day, IIT Madras Placement 2020 breaks previous year’s records that stood at 147 offers. However, the institute received a total of 554 offers in 2019.
Among the global leaders, Microsoft topped with 21 offers while Google, Rubrik and Jane Street a significant number of coveted roles.
Internship Head of NIRF’s top-ranked institute, IIT Madras, also took this opportunity to say, “It took us months of planning, but we made it, and not only did we provide a seamless experience, but we also added new companies to our repertoire.”
Students who got placed at jane Street said, “There was a great outreach in spite of everything that could have gone wrong and I think that this internship will do wonders in shaping the path I take in the future.”

On the successful completion of the online placement drive, N.V. Ravi Kumar, Advisor (Internship), IIT Madras, stated, “We had requested companies to be flexible considering that several of our students were in remote and far-flung locations where internet connectivity may not be as good as in urban locations.
The collective efforts of internships student heads and their teams in collaboration with the companies who participated in this approach resulted in positive outcomes.”
