MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026: Major Changes Announced at mcc.nic.in

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced major counselling reforms for 2026. The changes apply to National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG). Details are on the official portal at mcc.nic.in.

The reforms come from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Candidates will now report physically only once after seat allotment. Online document verification will replace repeated in-person visits to colleges.

MCC conducts counselling for the 15 percent All India Quota (AIQ) seats. It also handles admissions to AIIMS, JIPMER, ESIC, AFMC, and other central institutes.

NTA declared the NEET UG 2026 result on July 16, 2026. The full counselling schedule is expected soon on the MCC portal.

Who Can Participate in MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026?

Candidates who qualified NEET UG 2026 can register for MCC counselling. They must meet the cut-off marks set by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Class 12 pass with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology is mandatory.

The candidate must complete 17 years of age by December 31, 2026. Indian nationals, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, and foreign nationals may all apply.

What Are the NEET UG 2026 Counselling Rounds?

The counselling will be held in four rounds this year. These are Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up, and Stray Vacancy. Freeze option holders will complete formalities right after allotment.

Float option holders can pursue upgradation online during subsequent rounds. Their allotted seat stays protected in the counselling system. This removes the earlier need for repeated physical visits.

How Will Online Document Verification Work?

Candidate information will be pre-filled using NTA records at registration. The National Medical Commission (NMC) will first validate the seat matrix. Institutes will then verify candidate documents digitally through the MCC portal.

NRI candidates can upload documents on the portal instead of email. Designated officers have been trained to examine these online. Cybersecurity has been strengthened with the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

Trained Document Verification Officers will handle candidate paperwork this year. College nodal officers have also received fresh training.

A Big Boost for PwBD Aspirants

MCC has raised PwBD assessment centres from 16 to 61 nationwide. Designated Medical Boards will now issue Eligibility Certificates based on functional assessment. An Appellate Board will handle appeals from candidates.
