Pune Schools And Junior Colleges are Set to Reopen from November 23; Check Full Details Here

Pune schools have been closed for the past 8 months and the government of Pune has decided to reopen the Pune schools and Junior colleges on November 23, 2020.

Classes 9 and 10 of schools and classes 11 and 12 of Junior colleges were announced to be repented from Monday.

Varsha Gaikwad, the education minister of Maharashtra School stated that after analyzing the situation of coronavirus, the local authorities should decide upon the reopening of the schools.

Guidelines to be followed for the safety precautions of COVID 19 had been issued by the district administration and Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad municipal corporations on November 20, 2020.

The district administration informed the school management that consent from parents is mandatory for students to visit schools.

Pune Schools Reopening Guidelines

According to the guidelines issued by the Pune Administration, the schools should provide the following to the students.

• Thermal scanners/guns 
• Pulse Oxymeter
• Hand wash
• Sanitizer

The following are some of the guidelines issued by the Pune administration:

• School premises and classrooms should be cleaned with disinfectants
• Only one student should be allowed to sit on a bench
• All the teachers and non-teaching staff should undergo COVID 19 tests.

The principal of Jnana Prabodhini, Dr. Milind Naik said that they will be following all the safety protocols before reopening the Pune schools.

The students of classes 10 and 12 will be 160 in total and they would be visiting the schools only for practicals and co-curricular activities between 4 - 5:30 pm, Naik stated.

Naik also said that the school will continue the curriculum activities online as usual. All the staff was tested negative in the COVID 19 test.

Praneet Mungali, a trustee at Sanskrit Group of Schools stated that they would not be reopening schools even if they could provide international standard safety measures.

The possibility of any spike of infection should be overruled post-Diwali. To determine the next course of action, a detailed talk would be held with all the stakeholders including students and parents, said Mungali.

Prasad Joshi whose daughter is in class 9 stated, "I have got a consent form from the school. They have sought my consent to send the ward to school. But the school should take parents into confidence and inform what measures they have taken for the safety of students."

Rajesh Deshmukh, District Collector stated that over 18,000 teachers are handling classes 9 to 12, and over 3,000 teachers have undergone COVID 19 tests so far.
