Tripura Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath announced on Tuesday that admission to the state's 22 General Graduate Colleges will be made online in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said that the decision, the first for the state, was taken by the government for the welfare of students.
Everything will be available in detail on the admission portal and students can fill out their application forms online from their homes.
Admission will be made on the basis of merit. Candidates will have to provide their photographs, their signatures and their marks, Nath told reporters here at the civil secretariat.
He said that no additional fees or fees would be charged for filling out online registration forms.
Once registered on the portal, students will be able to choose their colleges of choice.
Nath said, adding that in the event of any queries, the candidates would be given telephone guidance.
He said the admission process is expected to begin on August 10, 2020 and is likely to continue until August 20, 2020.
Classes are likely to start in the first week of September 2020 via online mode, he added.
