What is the scope of BA LLB through Lucknow university?
BA LLB is the study of law with few subjects of arts related to legal study. If you want to become a renowned lawyer then you have to implement your knowledge in practical situations.
- The faculty at Lucknow University is good but it’s best if you make a habit of learning things on your own. It’s better not to expect much from the professors.
- The campus and library is huge. You can certainly use that to your advantage.
- If you want good career opoortunities, start acquiring practical experience. It’s best if you can intern for a lawyear. Learn to draft, work on your English, Hindi and communication skills. If you don’t understand few things here and there you can rely on technology.
Lucknow University is a good institute for a BA LLB, but you will have to make the most of your time there.
How is Information Technology branch of IIEST Shibpur?
IIEST Shibpur is one of the oldest public engineering colleges in India. NIRF/MHRD ranked IIEST Shibpur, 21st in Engineering Colleges in India. It has 19th rank in Week Top Engineering Colleges of 2020. The campus is not par as those of IITs in NITs, and infrastructure lags.
Admissions:
- To secure admissions in B.Tech in Information Technology, a student must have 10+2 with 45% (for general category) and a minimum of 30% marks in English.
- 50% of seats are reserved for candidates outside from West Bengal and 50% of seats for candidates domiciled in West Bengal.
- The entrance for admissions is JEE Main (Paper 1). Final selection is done throughJoSAA Counselling and CSAB Special Board for admissions.
- The cutoff ranking for In-state students in 2019 was between 9524-17031, and Outstate was 11084-13249.
Fees:The fees for BTech in IT are INR 1.37 lakhs per year, and MTech in IT is 81,500 per year.
Placements:
- The students are offered internships to inculcate their skills and experience. The percentage of students placed in each specialization is 75.
- There is relative consistency in placements from the IT section- 75% in 2017, 88.89% in 2018, and 75% in 2019. As of 2019, the highest recruiting batch isInformation Technology.
- The top recruiters at IIEST Shibpur are Microsoft, Maruti, TCS, and HSBC Technologies.The total eligible students for placement were 68and 81 job offers were made.
- The students with dual degree courses got placement in the IT branch as compared to CSE where no student got placed. Almost 50% of students got jobs. 10 were eligible in this course, and 5 students got employment.
Alumni:
Some of the notable alumni of IIEST Shibpur Engineering department are -Sir Rajvendra Nath Mookerjee- Founder of Martin & Co and Indian Statistical Institute (ISI);Sir Birendranath Mookerjee- Chairman of Steel Corporation of Bengal.
IT is one of the most demanded fields in IIEST Shibpur. One should opt for it owing to its growing placement rate. Even the cutoffs are easy to clear if a student is determined to get in. Dual degree courses are also preferred as they have a fixed 50% placement rate.
How are the hostels at SVNIT?
SVNIT has a good hostel facility.
- The hostels have all the basic facilities ranging from bedding to laundry.
- Boys are allowed to stay outside hostel premises till 11 pm, but freshers have to wait for around 3 months to acquire such freedom.
- Hostel rooms have a good LAN connection and Wi-Fi facility.
- Most of the hostel buildings are newly constructed.
- Some hostels have CCF (computer lab) facility. But it does not work properly all the time.
- The campus is located beside a beautiful lake, and birds like peacocks and parrots are a common sight within the college premises.
- The hostels have decent sports facilities, and besides, the college has a Student Activity Center where there are facilities for various sports like basketball, tennis, badminton, chess, etc.
- The SAC has a good gym, and some of the hostels have their own gyms as well.
- The entire campus, including the hostels have a zero ragging policy.
Thus, SVNIT hostels are good. You can consider this institution for your engineering studies.

There is no better college of the two because both are equally good in terms of placements and faculty. Both have their pros and cons. But here I will just cite some pros of both colleges that might help you make a better decision.

What branch can I get in Amrita University with rank of 4396 AEEE, other state, in Coimbatore, Bangalore and Amritapuri respectively?
The All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AEEE) cut off by rank was- 9199 for the general category and economically weaker sections and at 9983 for the OBCs, in 2018. In 2019, it was 8893 for general category students and economically weaker students and 10421 for OBCs.
The merit list will be prepared based on 60% marks secured in AEEE 2020 and 40% marks in the qualifying examination.
Cut-off for Coimbatore and Bangalore:

Cut-off for Amaravati:

It must be noted that Amrita will not be offering Engineering programs in the Amaravati campus this year, 2020.

Besides this, in 2017 the Open Quota Rank at Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri was between 5696-6991 and the State Quota Rank was between 16547-19969.
The possibility of getting any of the branches is open to students with a rank of 4396. Following the trend shown in the table and comparing it to the 2018 rank scale which had the opening rank between 1-750 for the general category and 1-15000 for the reserved categories. State Quota for the AEE saw the opening rank between 10001–12500 and the closing rank between 20001–22500.
Students must note the counseling procedure will be decisive in the process of selection. A rank of 4936 can lead one to any branch they'd like to choose.
Should I join Manipal Institute of Technology or IIITD?
My brother was in a similar dilemma when he got CS in Manipal as well as IIIT Delhi. After consulting a few friends at Manipal, he decided to go for IIIT Delhi. He stated the following reasons for choosing IIIT Delhi over MIT Manipal.
- Selection Criteria : Manipal selection criteria a relatively easier selection criteria than the JEE Main + CBSE criteria IIITD uses. There isn't any kind of negative marking and focus is given to the English language. Thus, the crowd may not be as talented and intellectual as IIIT Delhi.
- CSE : I wouldn't be exaggerating if I said IIIT Delhis CSE program is at par with the IITs. The faculty is highly qualified and the curriculum is very dynamic. The first year is branch-specific and does not have common subjects.
- Higher Studies : IIIT Delhi students are exposed to some of the best research and projects. The faculty's Letter of recommendation can help shape your career for the better.
- Placements : IIIT Delhi does not have mass recruiters and very limited non-tech companies. The overall placement stats are excellent.
If you want laid-back academics with a vibrant campus life, your choice should be Manipal whereas if you want a rigorous curriculum, then go for IIIT Delhi. It’s just a question of what your priorities are.
Which should I go for: IIIT Hyderabad or IIT Ropar?
I visited IIT Ropar in the past. Its campus is in a pretty good condition. The seniors over there had good reviews about their institution. The campus is around 50 kms away from Chandigarh.
I am a student at IIIT Hyderabad and know my institution quite well. Here are some highlights about it-
- IIIT Hyderabad offers one of the best CSE programs in India.
- Strong focus is laid on academics, and great opportunities are provided to students for extracurriculars. You will get to build cool stuff for the IIITH fest.
- Students of IIIT Hyderabad perform really well in ACM ICPC, GSoC, OPW, etc. and during internships. This proves the high quality of the academic environment at IIIT H.
- The course curriculum is rich and you will remain occupied with coursework and assignments.
- The faculty is very helpful and there are regular tutorials by seniors for first year students.
- The professors strongly promote academics and research.You can take up the honors program to understand the research environment better.
- The IIIT Hyderabad campus is big, clean, well connected and close to the city. There are just a few restrictions and a lot of personal freedom is given to the students. However, there is a strict attendance criteria.
- The hostels are great and the mess food is average. There are many restaurants nearby so you can also order from outside.
- The interaction between different branches is great due to the smaller number of students and limited branches. The senior-junior interaction is also great.
- The placements are pretty impressive.
According to me, especially for the CSE branch, IIIT Hyderabad is the right choice due to its great coding culture and strong curriculum. However, your choice can differ according to your situation. Do consult the alumni of both these institutions before arriving at a particular decision.
How is IIT Dhanbad as compared to other IITs?
ISM Dhanbad got the IIT tag a few years back.
It offers pretty good placements and research facilities. The campus is well-maintained and of decent size. It is being further improved and even has its own mall now. Other than that, the college has a fully centralized air-conditioned technical library- the largest in Asia.
IIT Dhanbad is at par with the old IITs. It is the best college in India for Earth Science branches (Mining, Mining Machinery, Applied Geology, Mineral, etc). Other branches have also developed in recent years, especially since ISM has received the IIT tag.
This institute has one of the largest alumni networks in the public sector. It has an MHRD-funded faculty development centre, which is one of its kind in the entire country. It is constructing a Central Research facility within its campus, in collaboration with Australian universities, as a result of an MoU signed by PM Modi during his visit to Australia a few years back. Many centrally funded projects are also taking place within the campus.
So IIT Dhanbad is far ahead of new IITs and at par with the old ones.
How is Fergusson College Pune for BSc in physics?
If physics is your passion, and you genuinely want to learn, this is not the place for you. One of my friends studied here and these are some things he mentioned.
- The faculty is good but they have limited course material. You would not feel like you have learned much.
- Most students take up physics in their final years because they know they can easily memorize the course material and pass. This is just so that they can improve their grades.
- Mugging up theories is definitely not how someone can learn science.
- They don’t have a real interest in the subject anyway and they would be your peers.
- The system at Fergusson is not great and you wouldn’t want to attend classes as it would not matter and you will pass your exams regardless.
If you are only looking for a college life minus the studies and want to have some fun with fests and events, by all means, join Fergusson because marks and knowledge are secondary here.
