Remarks

There are different angels through which we can look into the college. Each decisions have its own merits and denerits. In my point of view the college is spoon feeding the students and they are killing the curiosity of a child.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

We were the first batch of a new university named APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University through which all the engineering colleges came under same roof. But in my opinion this move was to help private colleges. Whoever studying in kerala gets same certificate. There is no point in getting admission into a government college in terms of certification. About the curriculum we had less importance in lab subjects. Labs only had internal exams. There was no external facility came for final exams of labs. Also in the opinion of some facilities we the btech students have to study the topics that is as deep as for an mtech student. Also the curriculum preparation was not in good rhythm.

Placement Experience

2.5

They give 100% placement in their sites and flux boards. But there are no such placements. Yes there are some comparatively good companies that come to our college for recruitment but most of them are IT companies and marketing companies. They also give photos of students who got job by participating other pool drives as they gave the placement. Our college never gives internships but they offer some extra courses like CNC, robotics extra. And there is extra course fees for them.

College Events

2

Main event is the Onam celebration. The one day which we can make some good memories. While we were 1st years we were not allowed to attend the onam celebration they said the reason that high chance of ragging may occur. Another event is the Techfest. Years ago each branches will be allowed to celebrate a tech fest on different days. And that branch was only allowed in their techfest. Others will have class on that time. After many complaints raised by students they allowed a single day with all branches to have a good tech fest. Then comes sports and arts day. Both of them are on same day. There is no intrest for the management to have such events so they try to celebrate them for name sake. Other events like college day, holi etc are not celebrated because they say it is hazardous activities.

Fee Structure And Facilities

About the fee structure, 75000 (seventy five thousand) is the basic tuition fees for an year. Then additional fees like caution deposit, uniform and book fees, university fees, hostel fees or college bus fees etc are there. Almost One lack twenty thousand will cost for a student to study one year. It may vary according to the facilities using by the students like hostel, mess , college bus etc. Also we have to pay some amount for Arts and sports. Also library fees is there. Both government allotment students and management qouta students have same fee structure. While we were studying a deposit of one lack has to be paid. They will return it while we complete the course. Now they changed that system. In my opinion it's feasible for an average wealthy student. Also education loan can be taken.

Fees and Financial Aid

In my knowledge the best scholarship given by the government and college for students is the tution fee waiver scholarship. They give this scholarship to top 3 students in every class according to their engineering entrance rank. They don't have to pay the tuition fees of 75 thousand. I was one of those students who got this scholarship. Also cast and religion based scholarships like minority scholarships are available. Also they help us to take education loan.

Campus Life

3.5

As I mentioned above the management have no interest in such extracurricular activities. They does this for just a name sake. They will never encourage sports. The physical trainer will not share any details about subzonal or zonal events. There occurred one incident where we get to know about the dates of zonal Cricket and football match through other college students. The trainers were hiding it from us the principal ordered them to do so. The lab facilities are comparatively good here. But we never use those.

Alumni/Alumna

I just became an alumni. I am in touch with some of my seniors. They are good supportive people. Nowadays while they call an alumni meet the attendance is very low. They are very helpful. They give many opinions.

Admission

I attended the engineering entrance exam conducted by kerala government. I got a rank about 11000+. I needed mechanical branch so we contacted vimal jyothi engineering college and booked a management seat with a small token amount. They said me to give the 1st priority for VJEC while the government admission process started. I could make into some government college but I gave VJEC as my 1st option so I was stuck here. Atlast I got admission in mechanical through government quota here in VJEC.

Faculty

2.5

Many of our facilities were guest lectures. Most of them were so young and had mtech from different National Institute of Technologys. We only had 2-3 lady facilities in mechanical branch. Almost everyone was so helpful through out with some exceptions. Some experienced teachers were rude. I don't know the exact reasons but they were cutting down the internal marks if they have some personal issues. Also not giving attandece by telling simple reasons. The Head of the department is also a tough man with army rules. There was fine system in our college. They were forced to remove fine system because of some students movements. Still no politics inside the campus. The principal is having some serious complex. He never takes a decision that is good for students.

Placement Experience:

Upon reaching s7 students are invited for campus placement but they have to pass different criteria to become eligible for attending the interview, a minimum cgpa of 7.5 and academic skills a these are the basic requirements and an aptitude test will be given and in further selection these criteria are looked. I plan on pursuing a job after completing by btech. More than half the students in a batch are getting placed usually.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is excellent because it contains so many informative ideas and the practical lab is the best. I chose this course to get an idea about the civil engineering field and i m satisfied with it. The faculty members are very supportive and helpful. The student ratio is very low. Faculties at our college are MTech holders and PHD also. There will be two series exams and one university exam in each semester and there are eight semesters in Btech.
