One good thing about the college is that it really has a mix of diverse cultures which helps you grow in those 4 years you spend on campus. It is really helpful in later part of life. One bad thing about the management is increasing fees which is ultimate

Entrance Preview

The admission process of Thapar University for its BE courses is through AIEEE examination which is currently merged in JEE. I got a rank of AIR 13559. The reason I chose Thapar over other NIT or some private brand is because of the reputation it has. Also it has an alumunus network of people working at top management roles. It still thrives to maintain its position among B.tech institutes and so attracts a lot of good students facilitating scope of peer to peer learning.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course curriculam is drafted keeping in mind the industry standards and latest trends. There are some new subjects like mechatronics also being added. So the whole learning process is step by step.

Internships Opportunities

I did my internhip with Center of Railway and Informatics System. The experience waa really good as I got a hands on experience in the industry for 6 months. Also faculty mentors were alloted during the internship in case of any help required from the college.

Placement Experience

Placements and job opportunities are really good. Some of the best companies ranging from Deloitte,KPMG to Microsoft etc visit the campuses offering good packages. Placements are being handled by H S Bawa who is the placement coordinator at Thapar Institute. Companies visiting the campus also offer a wide variety of jobs with different profiles. So overall scenario for campus placement is really good with 100% placements. In that way it has a good launching platform for students.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
