Remarks

The best days of my life were spent here. The friends made, memories earned are for a lifetime. I may have not become a great engineer, but I have become an all-rounder; open, passionate, ready to learn and spear in the forward direction.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course is designed such that along with the lectures, there are tutorial classes which are really helpful. The exam pattern is semester-wise; quizzes, practical exams happen just like in any other engineering college.

Placement Experience

4.5

A whole lot deal of big names come to campus for placements. Be it for Computer science, mechanical, electrical. Obviously, the trend is followed as most of the IT and software companies are the major recruiters but nobody's to blame for that. There is a genuine dearth of good companies who recruit in the core domains.

College Events

5

Grand inter-college cultural & technical fests like Saturnalia, individual events by separate clubs like inter-college/ inter-year Literary fests, nights by dance clubs, dramatics club, etc. The list goes on and on.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Expensive and dynamic, must have increased now. Its difficult to give the exact figures but now the degree cost should fall anywhere between 15-20 lakhs which is obviously a lot for a graduate degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, the college offers both merit based and need based scholarships. The new and existing students can avail these in assistance with the college's Student Alumni Interaction Cell (SAIC) as well as by contacting the administration directly.

Campus Life

5

The college has humongous number of clubs, events. I myself was head and part of Bhangra, Drama, etc. From typical punjabi to typical english showcase plays, the college has something for everyone. A plethora of activities has helped me to hone my personality.

Hostel Facilities

5

Everyone secured a hostel accommodation during our time. Now, the facilities have improved a billion times, the new hostels made are no less than 5 star hotels with all the imminent modern facilities.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, while sitting for placements, the number of seniors that are from college can be contacted and nobody, literally nobody backs off from guiding the new graduates in the right direction. A sense of belongingness is there that drives us all.

Admission

Back then, Thapar was and now still is I believe, the best engineering college in Punjab. Choosing electrical was not a well informed decision as being a naive I just chose what the professors vouched for.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty is really good, some strict, some extremely lenient, but mostly having a good knowledge of the subject they teach. Most of them are supportive, won't shoo you away if you have doubts and are patient when students create a ruckus.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
