The institute is ranked 2nd all over India for journalism. It is very good in every possible aspect. The teachers are very good and the environment it provides for growth and development is amazing.
Course Curriculum Overview
The couse structure is very balanced. We have 6 subjects in every semester which change every semester. For 5 subjects there are 70 marks for written exam and 30 for practical. For the 6th exam it is 100% practical.
Placement Experience
Placement and job opportunities are very decent. Many companies come to PU in search of talented individuals. PU in itself provides various opportunities for internship in public relations and other areas.
College Events
Every festival is celebrated in our institute. Our department has our own annual fest called Soch every year. It is a 2 day fest and includes activities like RJ Hunt, Ad Mad, Talent Hunt and many more. World journalism day is already celebrated with vigour.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It's very feasible. You have to pay Rs 16000 as annual fee. Then rs 4000 per semester as examination fee. The course also provides you opportunities to you to learn while you learn. They also give out scholarships to suitable candidates
Fees and Financial Aid
You can get basic education loans from any bank you like. SBI has a large branch in the PU csmpus only. They give scolarship to students from Haryana and to students who top in examinations. They basically will exempt your fee.
Campus Life
The gender is very skewed in favour of girls. The freshers party is very fun. There are socities like Communis which focuses on academics and 70mm which focuses on movies. The environment is very tolerant. Sports fest is organised in Punjab University.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are quite average in terms of quality as well as quantity. Theycan be based on sharing but that makes them even more crammed. You can find PGs around PU at very reasonable rates like rs 10000 every month. In PU hostels you have to pay around rs 20000 per month
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is very moderate. Our alumnis include Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurana and The Print editor Mr. Shekhar Gupta and many more big guns but many of them are not in contact with the department. Our immediate seniors were very helpful and supportive.
Admission
First you have to fill up the online form for which you have to pay. Then you have to appear for the written entrance exam which is very basic and easy. If you clear it then they call you for group discussion and an interview. After which they post the results on the official PU website
Faculty
The faculty is one of the strongest point of the education. They are masters in their own fields and are very good teachers. They share their own experiences and of alumnis of you department with you and help you grow both as a professional and as an individual.
