Remarks

No negative remarks since the College is quite deciplined and education friendly with rich library and community hall, the extra carricular activities are given high importance here and I would say that if you come here to study it would the best year of your life.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The new CBCS system has given a new look to every couses and the semester system has made the students work hard for the course. The new syllabus is very good for the students wanting to opt for research oriented career. No the Exams are not frequent as for each semester(occuring in every 6 months) have three core couses and a generic elective and a skill enhanced course or decipline specific course so each exam is of 100 marks where 65 is written and 35 consists of viva presentation for theoritical couses and for lab based they have practicals for 50 marks and 50 written.(before each exam there is 5-6 days gap)

Placement Experience

3

College does not avail any internship. There is placements as icici bank, hdfc bank and many other banks comes to hire. Last year indigo and Amazon came. Since it is a bachelor of science course so students opts for higher studies rather than jobs and at BSc no companies gives a job.

College Events

5

There is a College fest named caledonia which occurs every year in between January and February. In this many interCollege competition takes place apart from it the foundation day is done every year and since the College is a Christian minority College so Christmas is celebrated here with great importance. Many reunion any other fests takes place throughout the year.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Feasible. During the admission it took 16,400 and in third semester the tuition fee is Rs 660 ,annual charges is Rs 3580, laboratory charges for honours Rs 1500 for GE lab charges are 2350 and lab development charges Rs 700 and academy development charges 500.

Fees and Financial Aid

Actually for students passing with 88% marks in WBHS, 96% in ISC , 94% in CBSE avail INSPIRE scholarship from the government except this there are Vivekananda scholarship for students who have got 60%+ maks in graduation except this our College gives some scholarship to the Christian students.

Campus Life

4.5

Gender ratio is just awesome as it maintains 1:1 ratio in extracurricular activities. I am feeling proud to say that from drama clubs to sports our College keeps a mark on the road they take. A particular activity club is opened where students with utmost interest needs to enroll there name to be a part of that carriculum.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Though I have not opted for hostel but I have been there for sometime so I know about it. The hostel for boys are not that much well maintained the toilets are not clean, rooms are not in there best condition. For each person there is one room and yes there is a limitation for rooms. Everyone cannot avail the hostel facility only those will gate the hostel whose home >= 3 hours for the College.

Alumni/Alumna

College seniors are always ready to help and are very friendly. Every year there is a reunion where seniors of our College comes to spend some ample time in there alma mater. They give us more advices for the upcoming future and share stories about there life in this College.

Admission

First of all I filled the online admission form from the College portal and after a moth there was a full merit list. This was the only College which saw the marks of mathematics and physics but not the percentage. My name was not in the first list but after two days there was a second list where my name was present. So a specified date was given for the admission. Clearly, 65 students were there and among them 30 would be selected and the others will be kept under waiting list. Fortunately, I got admission on that day only. The admission process consisted of the approval of the thing that all my documents were original not fake and if found guilty then I will be terminated by Calcutta University (it is affilated to CU and is Naac A grade College) after the signature we were called to the department for chossing of the generic elective and if there was any problem in choosing the electives the professors were giving fruitful advices. After that process they checked my documents with utmost care. Then a payment form was given and after filling it up we had to pay the admission fees to the College cash counter. After the process my name got registered under this College. Now, I choose this College because my school teacher and other seniors who did mathematics honours recommended this College among other CU Colleges and the main reason behind it was the environment it gives to us and the faculty members of this College.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty is good as they are approachable any time within the College hours and are ready to solve new problems and always ready to give advices for a better career. Every week there is a tutorial class.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
