Remarks

The College is always known for its decipline and education friendly environment. It's rich library attracts the students as well as the professors to have a good time reading books there. So its always a positive remark.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Now the cbcs system has given a new shape to the couses as it has enriched the quality of the subject with interesting topics and gives emphasis on the topics which are of research importance. The exams are held every 6 months and each exam consists of core courses and generic electives with skill enhancement courses or decipline specific courses. Each subject if of 100 marks where 65 marks are written for theoritical courses and 50 marks for practical courses. Other marks ar on either viva presentation or laboratory work.

Placement Experience

2.5

College does not provide any internship. But some companies comies to hire students as last year icici bank, hdfc bank and many other banks and indigo came to hire graduates. Since it a bachelor of science stream placements doesn't take place in a full flow. Students are much inclined to higher studies.

College Events

4.5

Every year during the month of January and February there is a festival of our College named "CALEDONIA" which invited many different Colleges to participate in the fest and be a part of it. it continues for 5 days consisting of many cultural and technical events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure is Feasible. Each semester they take 660 as tution fee, 3580 as annual charges, 1500 laboratory charges(H) and if any lab based ge taken then 2350 for computer general 500 for each physics and chemistry. Lab development charges fee is 700 and academic development charges is 500. The amount changes according to the general subject taken others remains the same.

Fees and Financial Aid

Actually College doesn't give any scholarship to students except the merituous Christians. Except that many avail to the INSPIRE scholarship which is government based. It is given by seeing the 12 th marks(criteria is 88% in WBHS ,96% in ISC, 94% in CBSC) or there is Vivekananda scholarship which gives 18000 to students having 60% or above in graduation.)

Campus Life

4.5

Loosely speaking gender ratio is quite equal. There is a particular activity club for our College where one have to enroll to join s party of there interest and there is always a frequent competition with different Colleges. Every Tuesday is the practice day for the activity clubs. Among all the clubs drama club is more active. Apart from this there is NSS. There is no gender as well as religion barrier this is the very reason why it is a much attracted College in kolkata under Calcutta University. There is a student's union room which looks after the problem faced by the students and tries to solve them.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Though I have not availed hostel rooms. I have been there for some time. Frankly speaking the hostels are not up to the mark(boys hostel). They are not well maintained. The rooms are just so so and yes there is no sharing. One room for one student. Hostel seats are few and everyone cannot avail it because it's a rule that only those are allowed to stay there whose home is more than a 3 hours journey from College.

Alumni/Alumna

Yeah senior students are quite friendly and approachable, they are always there to help us and guide us and make sure that the problem faced by them are not faced by us. Every year there is a reunion held and the ex-students of this College comes to share there experience here and spend an ample time here. They give us useful advices and career paths to be followed for better future.

Admission

I chose this course in this College because of according of the ratings in google there was no better option available for me. The admission process was very simple, first to fill up the online form then wait for the merit list to be declared and then go to the College on the given date to verify the documents and cofirm the generic elective subjects and pay the admission fees.

Faculty

3

The faculty of the College always sticks to the syllabus of the given curriculum the are always available for help during the College hours and they encourage us to think differently and each and everytime.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
