Remarks

Though it's totally free of outside politics, inside the college. One good thing I must say is that our professors never offer us to study private tuition. Which I find very good as it doesn't create any chance of being biased towards anyone.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Our course is divided into 6 semesters under the CBCS system. In our last semester, we'll have to write a dissertation paper. Classes are taken regularly. It's only 5-6 times in a semester when a professor isn't available for any reason that happens in my department. And yes, in this semester we have 5 lab classes on 5 different days in a week. This feels too much irritating that we can't take a proper leave for any personal reason in fear of losing a practical class. Lab exams are a little bit frequent than theory exams and it kind of helps us to keep ourselves on track of study.

Placement Experience

4

No, our college doesn't provide internships as much I know. Right now I'm in 2nd year and haven't appeared in an interview but I've heard that my final year seniors have got job offers from PWC, Delloite, and many other companies.

College Events

4.5

Xavotsav: Probably Kolkata's largest college cultural festival. Many national and international artists have performed here. Exabyte: Tech fest organized by Department of Computer Science including many events like Coding, web designing, data decoding, and many more things. Sigma: Fest organized by Science Association of St. Xavier's College Kolkata To be honest, there are too many events and fests to list out here.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure varies from different streams. And yes, for me, it's a little bit expensive. Other basic streams like mathematics, physics, chemistry cost lesser than my stream. Again, biotechnology, multimedia, and animation, mass communication costs more than mine.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship By the Indian Government is Provided Some Times To The Students. Not Gone Through It Once But Have Heard About It A Few Time's That Scholarship Is Going Yo Be Given Or Something Like That Over Here.

Campus Life

5

Amazing For All Such Things. Has Badminton Court, Volley Ball Ground, Cricket Ground, Football Ground, Other Indoor Outdoor Games Are Also Provided To Student's Here For Their Refreshments During College hr's.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni students are helpful. There are many notable Alumni students from our college like Sourav Ganguly, Monali Thakur, etc. Every year they organize their reunion fest in the college ground. During any kind of bad situation, they have always stood beside our college to help.

Admission

I filled up forms for 3 subjects: Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science. Though my main choice was to study Mathematics, even many colleges published their merit list including my name for admission in mathematics, but I chose this college as it was totally out of political issues and of course, it's one of the best colleges in Kolkata and also my dream college. The admission process was quite smooth. The professors were helping us if we had any doubts about filling out the application.

Faculty

4.5

Except for 1-2 professors, the faculty is really great I would say. They are never denying to help us to understand something. There are different professors specializing in different fields of computer science, and they teach us very well.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Reviewed on Dec 17, 2024(Enrolled 2020)

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
