Remarks

An competitive college with good opportunities and in my case a strong family alma mater also. So basically Thapar University is an awesome place if you don't get those TIER-1 Engineering Colleges it has a competitive crowd and the professors are really cooperative and available. Being in Thapar for 3 years now I am in love with the Lush green Campus though it has deteriorated due to extra construction in recent years and the campus is lively in its own nature.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course structure is certainly up to date since the college goes through various audits and ratings throughout the year and this is even evident by the fact that Thapar ranks much Higher (even globally) as compared to its indian competitors. Talking about my department the professors are really cooperative and available, if you ask for the best faculty it would be difficult to take one name but Manbir Kaur is a real professor with a tinch of school teacher who cares for her students even though very strict when it comes to exams she is very cooperative.

Internships Opportunities

BHEL/Summer Intern

Placement Experience

4

The campus has a great competitive crowd to its strength various organisations from different fields let it be Consultancy, Finance, Core, Data Science, Manufacturing and various other fields visit the campus for recruitment and offer good amount for a fresher. The thing which works in favour of Thapar University is its strong alumni network which is spread around the globe so this contributes to a good placement season in the college. You are allowed to take 1 placement until your 75% of branch gets placed. The alumni network is managed very well by Special Alumni centre present in the college and the college has a great cell named Center For training and development which prepares you for availing placement opportunities and holds your hand until you get onto the right career path.

College Events

4.5

The extracurricular activities in college are one of the most important things infact for the New Comers it's a place to showcase your talents and get socoalized, Thapar University in that terms ranks much higher than other North India Institutions with wide range of events going throughout the year let it be even semester or the odd semester the cultural fest continue throughout. Thapar University has a reputation of conducting North India's biggest cultural fest Saturnalia when various performers from around the country come to showcase their skills and entertain you. The are many big names who have visited thapar the best one I will always cherish is watching Zakir Khan Live.

Fees and Financial Aid

Their are various kinds of scholarship Thapar Offers it varies from Merit Schorships to Underprivileged scholarships and various other independent organizations also offer scholarship when you take admission into Thapar.

Campus Life

4

The college in it's terms has a really advanced infrastructure with 24x7 High Speed WiFi availability in Hostels and the academic area. The sports infrastructure in the campus is one of the best in Northern India there's a Cricket Ground, a Football cum multi event ground, a small Hockey ground, Tennis Courts, Advanced Badminton Courts, An international level Basketball Court, Vollyball court, Swimming Pool, A 800m synthetic athletic track. Labs are up date as per me.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel infrastructure is good and you have a lot of options in front of you and it's totally your choice where you wanna live all hostels have good Messing and Fooding facility except the Mess with Sodexo which have to forcibly improve their services after vandalizing protests by students. Hostel Seats are in ample amount to accomodate the students present in the campus and it's getting updated year by year this year itself a 500 bed new hostel with advanced infrastructure will come. PG's available if in case you find hostel Fee very expensive.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
