Entrance Preview

I took COMEDK entrance, as this is a christian minority college after the first round of counselling there s a special round called Minority round for . Christian Minorities. Minorities from other states can also take part during this round. Dates are updated on the comedk site. I took up this college because its one among the best college in Mangalore. Its in Vamanjoor a 20 minutes drive from mangalore city.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The college follows the curriculum laid by the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) which is a collegiate public state university in Karnataka State, India. The course structure is updated as per the needs and demands in every 2-3 years. VTU holds 56th position in best university ranking. Its located in Belgaum, Karnataka. Regarding the electives, the curriculum has got diversified disciplines but these are chosen based on the majority counts in the colleges. Please go through the VTU website to get elective details as per your branch.

Internships Opportunities

Sorry to say, the college does not provide or initiate interships solely, but when the students approach the college with their intership letters the college see to that other students also get benefited by arranging for a majority.

Placement Experience

2.5

Placements and job opportunities are more branch based. Placements are nil or to say few for mechanical but great for CS, EE, EC. Most of the recruiting companies are software based such as ITC, TCS, UST global etc. The campus placements are good for CS. Other branch students also get placed in software companies but most of the students deny to take up these offers. Civil branch here s recently started and this year the placements for civil will be taking place. Off campus and pool placements are also informed to the students.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships are available for Minorities and for meritorious students. A good idea of the same can be gained by approaching the college office. Loan availability can also be availed.

Campus Life

4

The gender ratio varies from branch to branch. Mechanical branch is male dominated with one or two girls, rest all branches have got a fair gender ratio. The college supports extracurricular activities like sports, festivals etc but the prior importance is always for the academics. Sports day is organised for college and hostels separately. Those days are full of joy and awesomeness.

Alumni/Alumna

The college has got a great chain of Alumni and hence they keep a good alumni network. Alumni meets are held twice or thrice a year. Open interactions are always a chance for a career during such alumni meets. Fresh ideas and a recollections of memories always happen at these meets. It has helped to keep in touch with many of my friends whom i would have lost during this journey.

Exam Structure

Since the total marks are a combination of internal and external exam, every month there will an internal exam for all the subjects. For labs two internals are conducted and the best is selected. Three internal exams are conducted for subjects out of which best two are selected and the marks are averaged. Each academic year has two semesters. Good number of days are given for Semester exam preparations.

Faculty

3.5

As in every college, there s faculty interested and disinterested towards students, teaching etc. Same case goes here also. But when compared to other colleges in mangalore , I would suggest St. Josephs the best. Mangalore is an educational hub and there are more than 10 engineering college in the city. Some teachers are a boon to the departments and yes there are few faculties which i found to be a boon to the students in this college. Most of the faculties are post graduates with few having Phds.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the NIAT curriculum around four out of five. In my opinion, it is good that the curriculum is not only based on theoretical studies. The inclusion of coding, projects, assignments, and practical knowledge is quite engaging for the students, as they can apply the acquired information in practice. Additionally, I find the curriculum up to date compared to the standard Btech syllabus, which mainly focuses on theoretical background. However the curriculum could have fewer assignments, as some of them are rather time consuming and require additional study to achieve a better understanding of a particular subject.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Personally, I was interested in ECE course since I liked working around chips and was intrigued by how they worked, which is what led me to choosing this course. The curriculum is not the best for real-world applications since the syllabus is pretty outdated. The teaching does involve smart boards and can be visual as well, but it can be utilized better by the professors. A semester lasts for around 5 months, with the last month only involving SEE (Semester End Examinations) and the first four months consisting of 2 CIE tests in the 2nd and 4th months. It also involves practical examinations.

Placement Experience:

KSIT has an average placement rate of 70%-85% depending on the branch . CSE,ISE and ECE branches have higher placements while mechanical and civil have fewer opportunities in IT sector . Average package is about 4-6LPA . KSIT attracts many IT based recruitiers with some core companies for non -IT branches . It also provides pre-placement training, coding boot cams, aptitude tests and soft skills development . Alumni network is moderate, but students need off-campus efforts for high paying jobs

Placement Experience:

The on-campus usually starts in 6th Semester. A company called MathCo was the first company it came for the role of analyst. Around 5-7 people got selected. The average package would be usually around 4-4.5 LPA, but highest package was 6.25 from PlanetSpark for role of Sales. The percentage is nearly to 10-12%. After degree, get a job and work for atleast 2 years for learning current trends is my basic thought as of now.

Course Curriculum Overview:

This course I adopted since I couldn't do my neet. In 2nd year I thought of taking CSE . I GOT MANY SEATS IN OTHER COLLEGES FOR OTHER COURCES. But I wanted to adopt only CSE based . I mean social or economical or design thinking and scientific foundation.. these courses are of no use while learning engineering so this might be the drawback . Exams are conducted very strictly in our clg and I appreciate that !
