Gauhati University is the first higher educational institution in Assam, and their faculty campus everything is outstanding for a learning environment. That's why i'm choosing this institution for further learning, and i really enjoying my days in this great institution.
Course Curriculum Overview
My course Women's Studies is a interdisciplinary course, and for today it is very much important to learn a interdisciplinary course because all the traditional discipline are bound with some restrictions but i as a interdisciplinary course students must say that we have to learn each and every course but in a traditional course like economics we couldn't learn other things like biotechnology, zoology, ecological environment but in a interdisciplinary course it's a combination of many discipline. Industrial revolution 18th century we also found in this course. One of the faculty of our department- Poonam kakati Borah, she is really kind. I'm glad that i have teachers like her.
Placement Experience
IAWS- Which is related to our department and it's gives internship opportunity as well. Our alumni networking is also good they are very much helping to us. Recently some of the JRF holder teaching us for NET preparation.
College Events
Campus life is really good; Gauhati University organized many inter- college, inter university festivals such as youth festival, versity week, basanta utsav, bookfair in the month of february, many departmental conference national conference, independence day celebration and lots of events are going on.
Campus Life
Our GU campus have all the learning facilities that a institutions must have. There is library, wi-fi facilities in all the campus, all the hostel, there are also lab for the respective departments. All the campus is evergreen and their have canteen, markets, playground, basketball court, badminton court, indoor stadium, swimming pool, ecological garden, botanical gardens as well and all the campus are very clean and hostels facilities are also clean and it's really safe for all
Hostel Facilities
I am a hosteler and Gauhati University hostel infrastructure is really good and many new hostel building are also constructed. I'm staying in a hostel of AT3 Girls Hall, GU which is single seater and for a single seater room it's a big in size. And food are also better then the PG's.

There are 24 hostels at Gauhati University, 12 for boys and 12 for girls. Yes, the hostel wardens are very responsible and they are assisted by prefects. The campus of the university including the hostels is completely raggin free. Newly admitted students should submit an online Anti-Ragging Affidavit directive received from the UGC.
